  • to bad he's dead, don't quit your day job.

  • OMG the male co anchor is non other than a very young Randy Price . He's been in Boston for may years now and a proud gay man . Hello Mr. Price !

  • i like them fem gay stars...they can be so funny....loved him on BEWITCHED...Today if Bewitched were made....They would his character gay.

  • "Is H Hot or humid? Its both!"

  • Only Paul could get a laugh by just saying "5 Whaaaat?"

  • He was an Ohio boy. Buried in Amity Cemetery in Ohio next to his parents. Just a very simple grave stone.

  • The Holiday Inn stands empty for four years now, and Dominic's, a colorful Italian restaurant right down the road, where dozens of stars came to eat while in Toledo has been replaced with Olive Garden. Tony Pack's of Mash fame has gone bankrupt (hope they stay open). Toledo is the fast food and chain restaurant capital of the United States given the fact that for 9 months of the year there isn't anything to do but eat and hibernate. Miss Paul Lynde and many other greats that came here though.

  • Paul stayed right at the Holiday Inn about one mile from us that night. Too bad South Toledo doesn't attract the stars like it did back in the 70's. Now we only attract Nazis and gang members.

  • Alpena crackers!!

  • Uhhh...nope. He's funny, but this was a bust.

  • I remember watching Paul Lynde doing the weather on Channel 13 in Toledo. This really brings back a lot of memories, and it's so cool to see it in color. While the family watched CH-7 out of Detroit on the large RCA XL-100 downstairs, I would always watch WSPD TV on my large black & white portable in my bedroom. I had the biggest crush on Jennifer Blome back then.

  • They have his picture hanging outside the auditorium of his old high school to this day. Very nice one too, I just wonder why they don't have any writing on it because kids probably have no idea who he was.

  • 69!!!! OMG... love how he Paul didn't let that one slip.

  • lawl, its roger from american dad

  • Ron Burgundy at 5:14

  • Paul Lynde was/is a comedy icon for all people, regardless of sexual orientation. He was simply funny and likable and I wish he was still around to know how much he was truly loved by his fans.

  • This clip makes me so sad. He was so brilliant, and he was so obviously so ill at this point. They should have been ashamed to put him on the air.

  • The Best. I miss this man.

  • Paul Lynde made me laugh as a kid who was pretty much otherwise suicide prone, i absolutely loved that man and his brilliance!

  • Its Roger from American Dad

  • @TheMerlinOfAR Not really. Seth MacFarlane did base Roger's voice on Paul Lynde. He did the voice of Templeton the Rat in the animated version of "Charlotte's Web", The Hooded Claw in "Perils of Penelope Pitstop", and Mildew Wolf in the Lambsy Divey cartoons.

  • @PatrickRsGhost I always think of Paul Lynde as the voice of the hooded claw from the perils of penelope pitstop cartoon. But I used to get Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly(Hoodoo from Lidsville)mixed up when I was younger. I wonder if the two actors ever appeared on any shows together?

  • @bigguy130 They were both on Hollywood Squares

  • PAUL LYNDE 4 PRESIDENT!!! I bet he could break some shit smooth up.The man had a gift and is truly missed. If you haven't seen the "Driving is the Only to Fly" episodes of Bewitched(3 pts.),then you need to check it,because for me that was his SwanSong....

  • I want to know what he did to make that guy co-anchor laugh so hard

  • i do miss paul. he was funnier than hell. his best gag answer from hollywood squares; true or false; in ww2 guatemala declared war on germany. he said, yes, its true and its a good thing big G didn't ever find out about it. also liked it when he got darren to go "yaga zoozie yaga zoozie, .......on endora.

  • i love him. oh miss thing.. LOL

  • The news anchors kinda remind me if anchor man. Why don't you go back to your home on whore island!

  • I believe that male anchor is Randy Price, who has been doing news in Boston for many years now. They were really fake-laughing very badly

  • fucking brilliant...her laugh is sexy, too

  • Shame he died. He could have founded gay weather dot com.

  • I miss him...he was a fabulous icon

  • I want some Alpena Crackers!

  • You forgot GRAND RAPIDS 83, Paul!

  • Wow, weather technology from back then looks downright archaic by today's (or even the late 80's & early 90's) standards.

  • Hahaha. I love Paul.

  • "Boaters Forecast, Oh! screw them!" lol!

  • Happy 69!

  • he inspired the voice of ROGER on american Dad

  • I would love to have him as a friend! Unfortunately he did die of a heart atatck in 1981. He was only 55 years old, and was found in his Beverly Hills home by a friend. Sad to know that this funny, intelligent, talented guy was alone when he died.

  • paul lynde didn't die from aids,he had a heart attack

  • I think Paul had a few beers while he was out at the pool

  • Paul Lynde was AWESOME!!

    Dawn

  • he is having so much fun. :)

  • its Roger from American Dad !!!

  • Happy 69 !!!! LOL

  • @latka101 wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrong,,, you're an a++hole

  • @latka101 "the AIDs"? First of all, there's no "the", second of all it stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome... which means that the S gets a capital letter, too. Educate yourself, friend... or you'll continue to make yourself look like an internet-moron.

  • hey ROGER!

  • What was the date when Paul Lynde died?

  • @DJ1SCY Jan. 10, 1982 I believe.

  • @DJ1SCY: Have you heard of a thing called WIKIPEDIA?

  • he must have been the first openly flaming gay guy.you never knew who was gay back then.

  • @WIZZINGSHIRE: Not quite. How 'bout Floyd the Barber or Dr. Smith?

  • @kneejerker floyd from the andy griffith show???? NOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Uncle Arthur!

  • Paul was gay when folks didn't say he's GAAAYYY...

  • @FOSEEBOY: No, they would have called him queer. But mostly, folks called him funny. And he was. Very.

  • WSPD TV is now WTVG TV 13. Back then it was an NBC affiliate, today is an ABC affiliate.

  • Hooray for Charlotte.

  • i love that reaction when he sees "69"!!! classic!

  • He WAS Gay! You mean someone DIDN"T know that???????????

  • I kinda get a gay vibe from him. Is it just me? And who ate all the pecan sandies?

  • Who couldn't love him?

  • Paul Lynde : " Oh ! Screw 'um !!! "

  • Only Paul could make weather fun!

  • Wow, I hardly recognized Jennifer. She does the morning and noon news now in St. Louis.

  • "And 69... you know, I have a niece who lives up there!"

  • haha... I bet he was completely stewed while doing this. Good bless 'im. Can you imagine someone allowing this on some uptight, corporate-controlled station today? No way.

  • @orchidtender yea like NBC or Fox lol

  • The commodore 64 blue screen of predicted tomorrow's weather was...there. hahhaha He blows as a weatherman tho.

  • The commodore 64 blue screen of predicted tomorrow's weather was...there. hahhaha

  • Amazing. I was a senior in High School in Toledo, in 1978 when this was on the air. I remember all of them.

  • @DetroitLives313: Truly amazing

  • "Happy 69", that was freekin awsome!

  • This isn't even funny.

  • The anchor(Jennifer Blome) went to KSDK Ch 5 in St. Louis not long after this was done. She had been there for approx 30 years now. She has been an outstanding anchor all these years.

  • boaters forcast, oh screw em'. HAHAHA

  • i think it's hilarious how he mistakes arizona for nevada xD

  • Roger!

  • This is just too funny. Dear Paul, you are missed. We need your humour now. The satellite map: "It looks like trouble." Just fun. :^)

  • Paul Lynde was a treasure. He could always make you laugh. And he has a truly unique character.

  • Don't ya wish he was around today? My God, I wish I'd been a grown up when he was on TV! I always knew he was funny, but now that I GET him, he's even better! I'm 47 now, so I was a kid and in my early teens when he was in his prime.

  • @jimstacy1 I know what you mean. We're in the same generation agewise, and I also never understood his humor when I was a teenager (in point of fact, I was quite naive in that I didn't even know then that he liked men). Now that I understand his innuendo and his implications, he's really quite funny. I suppose all that was necessary was a little exposure to the adult world and a little maturity.

  • @RichHartley19671 "all that was necessary was a little exposure to the adult world and a little maturity" --> so true!

  • Where are you getting your information from????? A friend found him dead because he wasn't answering his door..he died of a heart attack..in his bedroom...NOT IN A PARK..

  • @namasteywhat You wish you were as talented as he..he was an American icon..and gave a lot of people joy and laughter..think about that before you post your inane comments..

  • @Sugarbehr1967

Well said. I loved Paul Lynde growing up. He gave a lot of people a lot of laughs.

  • @ar4216 Thank you...i loved him as well..he was the reason I watched 'Hollywood Squares'...priceless..

  • HE'S SO HIGH ...LOVE IT

  • Roger - "American Dad"

  • Whenever I watch a clip of Paul Lynde I hear the voice of Templeton from "Charlotte's Web" lol. Funny dude!

  • Paul Lynde was certainly unique! "Boaters forecast..... OH, SCREW 'EM!"

  • How cool would it have been to catch this live when it was broadcast?!

  • 'It's-a-wool-luff! Lambsey'

....OMG I just adored Paul's wonderful sense of humour and marvellous voice! - What an sweetheart!

  • 'It's-a-wool-luff! Lambsey'

....OMG I just adored Paul's wonderful sense of humour and marvellous voice! - What an sweetheart!

  • 'It's-a-wool-luff! Lambsey'

....OMG I just adored Paul's wonderful sense of humour and marvellous voice! - What an sweetheart!

  • Was that Jennifer Blome?

  • Paul Lynde was such a great funny man, no one could beat his quick wit and one liners.

  • Wow..A much younger Randy Price currently of WHDH Channel 7 in Boston.

  • LOL!!! Genuine comedic timing!

  • Paul Lynde was a very funny man, yes he was gay, yes he had problems with drugs and alcohol but, he was and will always be one of a kind in the enterainment world and he is truly missed. I remember it was always a treat to watch hollywood squares when Lynde was on. He was such a riot! Btw the Roger character on American Dad was a tribute to Lynde by Seth Macfarlane who was also a big fan of Paul Lynde.

  • Paul was the most loved comedian especially by me, He is so natural here and who cares if he was gay, loved him any way

  • severe weather in hollywood square LOL

  • "41% chance of twisters" LOL.

  • gayyyyyy

  • @zekepig yes. Paul Lynde was gay

  • @rudyking Well, knock me over with a plume.

  • Bruce Vilanch often wrote for Paul Lynde, and has been known to tell stories when performing stand-up. I particularly like the one about being stuck on the ground in first-class with a screaming baby. After successive take delays and three cocktails, Lynde allegedly got up, walked over to the mother, and said "Shut it up or I'll fuck it!"

  • "You told me to tuck that in my pants" LOL

  • I'm a Brit but know him from Bewitched which I watched repeats of in the 70s. I think he was also the voice of the Hooded Claw in the Penelope Pitstop cartoon? Ha ha but very funny. I guess he was the US version of our Kenneth Williams, same personal hang ups etc but loved by the public.

  • Paul Lynde : as a kid in the 70's ; I watched him every night on Hollywood Squares w/ my parents

I knew he was "different" but found him hilarious ! This guy was a genius and very funny man, he suffered internal pain / mental and a little physical though he always wanted to entertain us

  • Fabulous. Paul Lynde was a comic genius.

  • That's the funniest Paul Lynde, I've ever seen. I loved the Boater's forecast.

  • "Boater's forecast...oh, screw 'em!"

  • Sure do miss him. He would of loved to of been here now that gay people can just be who they are. He could of come out and been accepted, even though we all knew he was gay. I think he is one of the funniest people that ever lived.

  • @vonlossberg Yeah, he probably would be surprised at how it's more accepting now to be gay than it was during his time. He's truly missed.

  • The funniest guy on television throughout the 1970's without a doubt.

  • These homos are held up as geniuses now.

  • Paul Lynde was one of the best comedic actors ever produced by this country. The quite deliberate phonetic quality of his voice matched up with his impeccable timing were second to none. To this day, anyone hearing someone doing a Paul Lynde impression knows exactly who they're doing .One of a kind-gone far too soon-and most likely flooring them in Heaven. A great comic genius.

  • Happy 69

  • man the male anchor is such a douche

  • "Happy 69" that's hilarious!! Classic Paul Lynde...love him. :)

  • He is an obvious product of Mount Vernon High School.

  • "Go to next map" this is why there is green screen these days

  • Am I nuts or is that Randy Price (current WCVB-Boston anchorman) with the mustache? Sure looks like him. Randy is openly gay, so he and Paul Lynde have something in common.

Btw this clip is a riot

  • He was funny on Hollywood Squares but this......all the forced laughing kinda made me nauseous.

  • Actually, I had already known that Lynde had died many years before. A very tormented and tragic person he was, outside of his sexuality. I remember reading about his arrests for public drunkenness during the 70's. A violent temper too.

  • He was as flaming as a leap year Mardi Gras.

  • @TheSanityInspector Haha, that's a good one. If he had been any gayer he would of been straight lol.

  • It's actually ROGER from American Dad!

  • The voice is modeled after Lynde's voice, but it isn't Lynde. Lynde died long before American Dad ever existed. He did have an interesting voice that voice actors and comedians have used for years.

  • Paul Lynde - a true comic genius with a heart of gold (and zingers to match!)

  • Naturally funny guy. Pretty good for an adlib thing.

  • Paul was an Ohio native and would do summer-stock theatrical productions there when HOLLYWOOD SQUARES was on hiatus. Very popular in the Midwest.

He was also a world-class alcoholic, as that clip might also indicate.

  • cuz he was!

  • Let's see, Mr. Lynde died 28 years ago this month, and your profile says you are 22 years, so how would you remember Paul Lynde enuf to know he was gay?

  • Check wikipedia. And watch TV Land every now and then. Also, you learn a lot from your parents.

  • You don't have to have a personal remembrance of someone to know if they were gay or not. There's such a thing as Google, you know. All the info is out there if you search.

  • Well I do remember Paul Lynde when we was alive and on many shows including Bewitched (how much do U remember of that show when it was originally aired?), and I also remember hearing about him when he died.....yes I was one of many fans of his when he was still around! So U guys who are just up and coming into today's world don't know the things what we who watched these events and people as it was happening.

  • Good answer!!

  • He was , dont make him bad guy ... He was one of the funniest comedians of all time .. !

  • Yes, he was one of the best comedians of all time.

  • this was so damn funny!

  • Yep sometimes technology is a good thing. Soemone spent a lot of time setting those boards up. They tell you the high but not the low. The green screen and computers made this stuff a lot more simple and accurate. But we need Paul Lynde back to make other things in life better :)

  • Check out the advanced weather forecasting technology.

  • Very good lol.

  • A 69 joke in 1978? I wonder if that got some letters...then again, it probably went over most people's heads.

  • Are you kidding, 2009 is a LOT more uptight that 1978 was. Everyone knew what "69" was back then.

Your grand parents were probably going to "key parties," dropping acid, popping ludes like tic-tacs and making jokes about the only people who used rubbers (condoms), sailors.

  • than

  • @Hoopermazing doubt it.

  • @goldnight - I don't care what you doubt. I was there and you were not. You have no frame of reference.

  • @Hoopermazing ? hippies, you guys are crazy.

  • Comment removed

  • @Hoopermazing

Great so my parents did trashy drugs and got STDs. God bless the 70s.

  • @Hoopermazing than... not that.

  • @Hoopermazing

The 70s weren't any more open, just much less educated. People don't go to key parties anymore not because they're squares, now they just use craigslist and a lot more frequently. And its BECAUSE those idiots didn't use condoms that people now HAVE to.

We are so much less uptight than people were back then. They only appear loose because they were all drunk all the time.

  • @DanRSL You lost me at "The." Run along now, and bore someone else to tears.

  • @Hoopermazing

That's a classy way to admit you're wrong

  • @DanRSL Quit the contrary. You're a nitwit, and you don't seem to have the frame of reference to begin to know what you're talking about. All of that, I could overlook. But, you're a wholly uninteresting nitwit, and that's unforgivable.

  • @Hoopermazing

    "Quite" while you're ahead.

    ...ba dum tish!

  • @DanRSL *yawn* I omitted an e. Alert the press, Mr. Excitement.

  • @Hoopermazing yeah now they are all going to TeaParties and Purity Balls, LOL.

  • @cjs33139 I haven't a clue what a "purity ball is," and I'm incline to believe that I am a better person for not knowing.

  • I was thinking the same exact thing (wonder why people gave you thumbs down for that comment?!)
