@chicklova223 I think you misunderstood what I said. I said "FLAME Princess" is supposed to be Finn's age. She's a character that won't be shown until season 4 and is supposedly the princess of the Fire Kingdom.
The reason why it was taken down it was because the AT crew found out about the whole PBxMarceline relationship, they were upset and did not excepted this episode to be translated as a PB and marceline type of relationship for that reason they took it down.

@reilly500 Not necessarily. Just because I've been through similar situations, to me, Marceline felt more or less targeted by PB. She got upset because she didn't think PB really had a problem with her song, she thought she was using that as an excuse just to show her disaproval for HER. Not all frustration means sexual frustration imo. I'll just take a long shot and say you've never wanted to make up with your friends over a stupid argument before seeing as how it must be loooove if they care

I'm not about to start arguing over the this. You don't want to ship them together? That's totally fine. But this would be groundbreaking and mean so much to queer fans, so I think people would need a really, really good reason to not let it happen.
@optimis210 Finn is still a kid, and Bubblegum is 18. He sees her in a totally different way than she sees him. Having her get together with Marceline would actually make more sense, because they're (mentally) the same age, and theres been some hints that they have a history.
Regardless of even that I would have to disagree, I wouldn't say mentally their the same age at all seeing as how in Marceline recalled in her intro song, "I'm not mean I'm 1000 years old and just lost sense of my moral code," which can be taken as that at one point she had the same or similar moral codes to PB but as time went on she lost it, very similar to how a lot of adults change their viewpoints on things as they grow older because life beats them

She's clearly still got the body of an 18 year old, and the way she acts (getting embaressed by her dad, saying what we consider teenage words, ect) she hasn't aged much mentally either. Lost track of her moral code maybe (despite the lyrics, I don't believe that, because her actions state otherwise), but she's still physically and somewhat mentally a teenager.
@optimis210 Anyway, it's not just about the characters. It's about the message having Marcline and Bubblegum get tgoether would send. Queer people are very under represented in media. To have two same sex characters get together, on a childrens show, is a big step towards that representation AND true equality. Would it really be fair to deny them that?
@reilly500 It could similarly backfire and actually confuse youth to believe that having true compassion for someone must automatically mean you're in love with them causing even MORE heart ache then necessarily. Which I have also personally dealt with. Just to clarify, this show is demographed more at tween's and BOYS, it's not gonna send the same message you'd think it send.

You think young teens will think caring about someone = romantically loving them? No. I understood the difference between platonic and romantic love waaaaay before then. Having a kids show where theres a canon lesbian couple would show that its okay to be gay. People still treat queer folk as something that kids aren't meant to know about. That's wrong. There are a lot of preteens out there, who are starting to develope those feelings. And they could really use a queer couple, someone like them, showing them its okay to feel that way.
i would personally HATE to see them become lesbians. this is because if i was Finn, that would mean i would have lost my true love FOREVER. you have no idea how much that hurts. i dont hate gays, but i do hate when the person i love with all my heart becomes a lesbian because that means i have a 0% chance with her. i might as well kill myself.

As many people have said before me, it would be absolutely amazing to see some sort of romantic relationship between Marceline and Bubblegum, either in past or present. Not for fanfictiony slashing purposes, but because it would show people of the queer community that they're not as awful as the rest of social media wants them to think they are. Sure there's shows like the L word out there, but to put it in a kid-friendly, mainstream show like this would be so much better, and would give hope.
All of this buzz about this relationship on the internet has made me want to look into this show. So thank you, writers of Adventure Time, for recruiting a new fan who wants to see history made.
I think they would be very sweet together! It would be incredibly progressive; Adventure Time would be HISTORIC for dong this. It's also so beneficial to kids right now, especially those growing up unhappy with their sexuality. They need to know that it's perfectly normal. The same goes for other kids too- the main issue with homophobia right now is that it's been treated as a taboo since we were little. If we saw it as normal from an early age, things would totally change.
I think Marci and PB would be cute together, but i loooooooooove Finn and i want him to be happy with PB, and she's totally been hinting that she likes him too! It makes me sad, because both couples are great, i can't decide who to ship. Finn's dedication to Bubblegum has me leaning that way, though. But, i would not be opposed at all to Marci and PB getting together, as long as Finn ends up happy too :D

And it makes perfect sense that M feels ignored/put down by BP, its like high school. BP rules and has everyone calls her amazing and pretty while Marceline hangs out with jerky ghosts and everyone is avoids her. She hates BP but at the same time wants to be her or be with her
Personally I just see them as very good friends or maybe a sister like relationship. But I don't really mind the hints of something more between them. On the subject Finn and PB: I love how it is now. Finn having this seemingly huge crush on PB and she's just okay with that without showing any similar feelings.
Also: there should be long versions of the songs in AT (if there aren't any already).
Marceline & BP is my OTP. Seriously, they are pretty much perfect together. I would be so happy if they became canon. And young people, as young as the age of 7, have already realized they're apart of the LGBT community. If one of those young people were to watch a show were there was a homosexual couple, that would make them feel like they actually exist and aren't terrible for feeling the way they feel. I think it would be a fantastic thing if this were actually going to happen in the show.

@FantasticFranco This is exactly the attitude that needs to change. Two people caring about each other can be presented as sexual or non-sexual, it has to do with the context and handling of the situation. Obviously since it's a childrens show no one is going to get it on. Gay relationships are no more inherently sexual than straight ones. Wouldn't boys think about wanting to be Finn and get with PB? Wouldn't girls want to be PB? It goes both ways.
@FantasticFranco It's funny how a heterosexual relationship on tv doesn't have to be perceived as sexual (simply romantic), but two girls together are immediately perceived as sexual, "especially if you're a dude." I cannot imagine a kid's show displaying any more sexuality than holding hands or singing songs, so what would be so sexual about it, other than the presence of two girls who are fond of each other?
Marceline/bubblegum needs to happen, for the many reasons posted in many more comments below this one. It's obviously going to upset some people, but the vocal minority of people outspoken against it are most often people who don't watch, and only complain about something they're heard about for the sake of opposing a topic. The audience wants the relationship, the audience comprises such relationships. Let it happen, while still remaining as child friendly as it already is, of course.
I am among those who never watched Adventure Time, but realized it was COMPLETELY AWESOME upon seeing the preview clip for What Was Missing and then watched as many episodes as I could track down. Though, those of you who seem to be protesting the show taking a turn for the offensive? I see it as going with "I like you" and maybe a kiss on the cheek, rather than anything blatant.
Jake and Lady Rainacorn are in a relationship, and that has no ill effects on the plot of the show. Heck, we haven't even seen Lady Rainacorn for like what,...10 episodes or so? I mean everyone is an "adult" so, so what? I don't think them getting together will take away from the main part of ADVENTURE time. It's not like the writers are going to toss everything out the window and make it "Adventure Time with Marceline and Princess Bubble Gum."

My god, it would be incredible if this were made canon. Even if it were just a past relationship. Hell, I'd even settle for a bit of one-sided love on the part of Marceline. It's just so rare to have canon same-sex relationships in media intended for the general public. And as for the people who are saying "why can't they just be friends?": why can't they NOT be friends? We're not talking about fanworks here, we're talking canon, and most media DO make them friends. A change would be nice.

While I support Bubbline (yes it is totally adorbs) I believe it should be a strictly fan-speculation thing and not really focused on in the show, at the most with vague stuff that can also be interpreted as platonic. A lot of things exist in the subtext, but just because the narrator hints at a *possibility* and just because it IS *possible,* doesn't mean that it's there. because we all know that if PB was still 13 she and Finn would be together.
I am not against a PB/M pairing it would be progressive and good and touch the hearts of a lot of kids who do have feelings that are considered "unorthodox" BUT I will say that you "shippers" are sniffing hard.

Marceline/Bubblegum is aces for several reasons: 1) It would be beyond refreshing to have a relationship between two girls be played as something normal and sweet and not made into a big issue/lesson/tragedy, 2) something like that could actually help people a little, and 3) it's a super interesting thing for both characters, they already bounce off each other and make a great sort of sense. There are no losers in a PB/M scenario, only cotton candy and smiles and old rock tees for all. :)
Marceline x Bubblegum is fantastic. I think Finn wouldn't be left behind because they're his best friends and they would all keep it cool. Plus it's great to get this sort of stuff out in kids shows.
I think it should happen though if it does i think that it should be kept....classy? They can be lovers but still be finn's best friend and still act like friend and go on adventures, they don't have to get all lame. People who are worried about kids getting confused about it, i think you're not giveing kids enouth credi. If homosexual girls see it, they'll be happy that a character is like them, but if a streight girl watch;s the show seeing lesbians won't turn her automatically gay.
I feel like the whole thing is feeling forced to be honest. While we should be thinking about teaching tolerance to children, there are better ways to do so than by using a show like Adventure Time.
This is along the same lines as those people who called for Bert and Ernie to be married on Sesame Street. It's a wonderful idea in theory. Finn sang a song about everyone with a special verse for Jake. Finn is not going to be that heartbroken if he doesn't end up with PB. He's a kid. But if we could have a good queer representation in media these days, that would be amazing. My 9y.o. cousin surprised me last month saying "I don't know why people have a problem with gays marrying. Love is love." Kids are aware of homosexuality and usually rather accepting of it. AT could reinforce that tolerance. Marceline and PB are super cute.
I think Marceline/Bubblegum is good for fannon but in all honesty I think people give kids too much credit. Unless a child has been raised with homo sexuallity being taught to them or their parents are they would not understand this. Homo sexuallity is already confusing enough for people the last thing a kid needs is a kids show with an explicit gay couple it could very well give them the wrong idea that if they have a very close friendship that they are gay

@PhyscoZombieChickie Look I'm 20 and i watch this with my 10 yr old sis now bits like this go over her head much like it did for me when I was her age and watched Xena to me Xena and Gab were just 2 kick butt friends on a journey I knew of gays but it never once crossed my mind then that the 2 could go that way until I re watched later in life and i feel that is how it should be something subtle that kids don't get until they are at an age they can understand it without it being stated for them
Marceline/Bubblegum would be fantastic. Not only are they an adorable couple, but it would help teach tolerance, and that there's nothing wrong with liking the same sex.
Please, please make this happen! You have no idea how much it will mean to little girls who watch cartoons and desperately try and see themselves in them, only to constantly feel alone because everyone else is looking at the boys and they're not. And it will do a lot to teach other children tolerance.
@Zyymurgy One could argue this ship adds a new dimension to Marci/PB, but I stand by my point that it makes Finn a less interesting character. W/O a new love interest to fill the void, we're either going to see a lot of heart-broken Finn scenes or they'll completely gloss over it and all Finn will be left with is the adventuring. By adding a new dimension to Marci and PB, Finn may actually lose one. PS: Marci/PB feels forced, this relationship would have to be established over a few eps to work.
PB and Marci all the way please! This was my eight-year-old sister's favourite episode to date, I would absolutely love it if it could help her understand that people love who they love, regardless of gender.
Finn doesn't need a love interest to be interesting. Marceline/Bubblegum would add necessary dimension to those secondary characters. I don't usually watch Adventure Time but I would if that was included. There needs to be more lbgtq on tv for children.
My only concern with a Marceline / Bubblegum relationship is that it sort of disarms all the scenes we see Finn pining over Bubblegum. I mean, homosexuality is clearly more acceptable than pedophilia, but without a female counterpart Finn becomes a less interesting character in my mind.

We know Marci has had a long term relationship with a boy before- Ash- so at most she is bisexual, and we know PB had a crush on Finn when she was "younger"- back in the eps when she was thirteen or twelve- so agains she is Bi at best. Finn can still have a crush on PB, this doesn't discredit his pinning- people crush on unattainable people all the time. Honestly i feel like Marceline and PB love to tease him. PB shut him down during the last part of " too young " but still kissed him at the end of Wizard Battle, and Marceline toys with him a lot here and there. I loved the episode, but all I could see was a friendship between Bubblegum and Marceline. And I think it could be a really sweet friendship. I believe Finn belongs with Bubblegum... sometime in the rather far of future :)
To each their own, but isn't a 13 year old boy/ an 18 year old girl less socially acceptable then two girls right now? I mean, the cartoon should always be about Finn and his adventures, but maybe he'd find a love interest his age. PB and Marceline are cute together; but 'shipping' isn't what I'm concerned about- this is a step in the right direction, progressively. I wish when I was 10 or 11 I knew there were normal people like me, that it was ok and wasn't 'dirty' to like girls.

Hmmmm. This is a tricky situtation. I mean, I'm all for equality, but I don't think the world is quite ready for such radical change yet. Give it time. Maybe hint at a possible gay relationship, and see where it goes. I agree that it's a step in the right direction, just keep it subtle, for now.

I really think making this pairing official, as others have said, would be a great step in the right direction as far as opening people up to the idea of same sex couples. Doing so in the form of a cartoon will make it simpler for children to accept and a lot less forced than pushing it to be taught in class. I mean that's half of the reason morals are put into cartoons am I right? But yeah, I say this is a good idea and I say go for it!

I've never seen Adventure Time but the mere mention of this possibility makes me want to buy the whole collection and start tuning in religiously. I'm sure that my niece and nephew would like to watch it too. I greatly appreciate a cartoon that isn't afraid to be modern.
I would absolutely 1000000% support a relationship between Marceline and Bubblegum. This would be incredible, ground-breaking and I could cry with joy that an animation as fun as Adventure Time would have people like me in it.
I would LOVE to see Marceline/Bubblegum to become a canon thing. Really, I would be satisfied with them becoming close friends, but a romantic relationship would be very adorbs. It's already canon that neither PBG or Marcy are interested in dating Finn, so while his feelings do matter, I don't see them really standing in the way.

@reilly500 Not necessarily. Just because I've been through similar situations, to me, Marceline felt more or less targeted by PB. She got upset because she didn't think PB really had a problem with her song, she thought she was using that as an excuse just to show her disaproval for HER. Not all frustration means sexual frustration imo. I'll just take a long shot and say you've never wanted to make up with your friends over a stupid argument before seeing as how it must be loooove if they care

Regardless of even that I would have to disagree, I wouldn't say mentally their the same age at all seeing as how in Marceline recalled in her intro song, "I'm not mean I'm 1000 years old and just lost sense of my moral code," which can be taken as that at one point she had the same or similar moral codes to PB but as time went on she lost it, very similar to how a lot of adults change their viewpoints on things as they grow older because life beats them

Having a kids show where theres a canon lesbian couple would show that its okay to be gay. People still treat queer folk as something that kids aren't meant to know about. That's wrong. As many people have said before me, it would be absolutely amazing to see some sort of romantic relationship between Marceline and Bubblegum, either in past or present. Not for fanfictiony slashing purposes, but because it would show people of the queer community that they're not as awful as the rest of social media wants them to think they are. Sure there's shows like the L word out there, but to put it in a kid-friendly, mainstream show like this would be so much better, and would give hope.

I think they would be very sweet together! It would be incredibly progressive; Adventure Time would be HISTORIC for dong this. It's also so beneficial to kids right now, especially those growing up unhappy with their sexuality. They need to know that it's perfectly normal. The same goes for other kids too- the main issue with homophobia right now is that it's been treated as a taboo since we were little. If we saw it as normal from an early age, things would totally change.

On the subject Finn and PB: I love how it is now. Finn having this seemingly huge crush on PB and she's just okay with that without showing any similar feelings.

Marceline & BP is my OTP. Seriously, they are pretty much perfect together. I would be so happy if they became canon. And young people, as young as the age of 7, have already realized they're apart of the LGBT community. If one of those young people were to watch a show were there was a homosexual couple, that would make them feel like they actually exist and aren't terrible for feeling the way they feel. I think it would be a fantastic thing if this were actually going to happen in the show.

Two people caring about each other can be presented as sexual or non-sexual, it has to do with the context and handling of the situation. Obviously since it's a childrens show no one is going to get it on. Gay relationships are no more inherently sexual than straight ones. Wouldn't boys think about wanting to be Finn and get with PB? Wouldn't girls want to be PB? It goes both ways.

I cannot imagine a kid's show displaying any more sexuality than holding hands or singing songs, so what would be so sexual about it, other than the presence of two girls who are fond of each other?

Marceline/bubblegum needs to happen, for the many reasons posted in many more comments below this one. It's obviously going to upset some people, but the vocal minority of people outspoken against it are most often people who don't watch, and only complain about something they're heard about for the sake of opposing a topic. The audience wants the relationship, the audience comprises such relationships. Let it happen, while still remaining as child friendly as it already is, of course.

Marceline/Bubblegum is aces for several reasons: 1) It would be beyond refreshing to have a relationship between two girls be played as something normal and sweet and not made into a big issue/lesson/tragedy, 2) something like that could actually help people a little, and 3) it's a super interesting thing for both characters, they already bounce off each other and make a great sort of sense. There are no losers in a PB/M scenario, only cotton candy and smiles and old rock tees for all. :)

People who are worried about kids getting confused about it, i think you're not giveing kids enouth credi. I feel like the whole thing is feeling forced to be honest. While we should be thinking about teaching tolerance to children, there are better ways to do so than by using a show like Adventure Time.
This is along the same lines as those people who called for Bert and Ernie to be married on Sesame Street. It's a wonderful idea in theory. But at the same time, aren't we giving kids a little too much credit rationalizing the issue? Parents'll also forbid them from watching if they don't agree imho

Finn sang a song about everyone with a special verse for Jake. Finn is not going to be that heartbroken if he doesn't end up with PB. He's a kid. But if we could have a good queer representation in media these days, that would be amazing. My 9y.o. cousin surprised me last month saying "I don't know why people have a problem with gays marrying. Love is love." Kids are aware of homosexuality and usually rather accepting of it. AT could reinforce that tolerance. Marceline and PB are super cute.

I think Marceline/Bubblegum is good for fannon but in all honesty I think people give kids too much credit. Unless a child has been raised with homo sexuallity being taught to them or their parents are they would not understand this. Homo sexuallity is already confusing enough for people the last thing a kid needs is a kids show with an explicit gay couple it could very well give them the wrong idea that if they have a very close friendship that they are gay

@Zyymurgy One could argue this ship adds a new dimension to Marci/PB, but I stand by my point that it makes Finn a less interesting character. W/O a new love interest to fill the void, we're either going to see a lot of heart-broken Finn scenes or they'll completely gloss over it and all Finn will be left with is the adventuring. By adding a new dimension to Marci and PB, Finn may actually lose one. PS: Marci/PB feels forced, this relationship would have to be established over a few eps to work.

My only concern with a Marceline / Bubblegum relationship is that it sort of disarms all the scenes we see Finn pining over Bubblegum. I mean, homosexuality is clearly more acceptable than pedophilia, but without a female counterpart Finn becomes a less interesting character in my mind.

We know Marci has had a long term relationship with a boy before- Ash- so at most she is bisexual, and we know PB had a crush on Finn when she was "younger"- back in the eps when she was thirteen or twelve- so agains she is Bi at best. I think this would be a great step in the right direction.
While I'm sure that a blatant coming out would anger parents, I'd say that more subtext wouldn't be such a bad idea.
If it's portrayed as normal, that would be a good lesson for children towards acceptance too.

Hmmmm. This is a tricky situtation. I mean, I'm all for equality, but I don't think the world is quite ready for such radical change yet. Give it time. Maybe hint at a possible gay relationship, and see where it goes. I agree that it's a step in the right direction, just keep it subtle, for now.

I really think making this pairing official, as others have said, would be a great step in the right direction as far as opening people up to the idea of same sex couples. Doing so in the form of a cartoon will make it simpler for children to accept and a lot less forced than pushing it to be taught in class. I mean that's half of the reason morals are put into cartoons am I right? But yeah, I say this is a good idea and I say go for it!

I think this is brilliant : ) and I think in a way it's going to help a lot of kids <3 Help them feel more comfortable in who they are just by seeing this kind of thing FINALLY on tv and cartoons and what not FOR kids and young adults (glee etccccc).
Coming from the perspective of someone who DOES like the same sex but grew up not knowing and understanding this kind of stuff until I was older... I'm kinda envious of kids these days!

It'd be subtle in the fact that it wouldn't take away from the point of Adventure Time. ADVENTURE! And saving princesses.

I've never seen Adventure Time but the mere mention of this possibility makes me want to buy the whole collection and start tuning in religiously. I'm sure that my niece and nephew would like to watch it too. I greatly appreciate a cartoon that isn't afraid to be modern.

I would LOVE to see Marceline/Bubblegum to become a canon thing. Really, I would be satisfied with them becoming close friends, but a romantic relationship would be very adorbs. It's already canon that neither PBG or Marcy are interested in dating Finn, so while his feelings do matter, I don't see them really standing in the way.

@fragiletoy420 Well im not exactly sure it's all weird because of their age difference well Marceline is 1,000 years old and PB is 18, Marceline looks and acts 18 too. its strange how could she have looked in the past PB would be a young teen when they were friends. all very strange and will probably be revealed in upcoming episodes unless Cartoon Network decides this has caused to much commotion and does not allow if in any future episodes to show any relationships with Marceline and PB. -----
