  • Kojima is making MGS5!!! 8)

I have a theory that its a possible remake of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake.... maybe? =)

  • I love the intro song so much. I wish they would use it more!

  • Mel Gibson As Snake.

    Sean Connery as big Boss.

    XD

  • I still find it amazing how the MSX2 ran this game, albeit rather sluggish. This should have been ported to the SNES and brought to the US. At least it's on the PS2, but it would be nice to see MG and MG2 available for download on Xbox Live/Playstation Network.

  • they should really improve these games with voice acting and such it would be simple I mean so we can understand the full story.

  • campbel : "this radar is very usefull bla bla bla..."

    snake : " what its range ?"

campbel : " 9 screens whit you in the middle"

    LOL

  • Snake looks like Rambo in this one.

  • Does anyone else think this game was magnitudes better than the first game?

  • Hell yes.

  • Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake

Starring: Mel Gibson as Solid Snake! ^^

Still funny to look at this when you're actually used to the current Solid Snake voiced by David Hayter.

  • I F****** love the theme at the beginning

  • The Gamest!

Too perfect for it´s year. We want a Remake now!

  • my mistake, its mel gibsonXD, it was kyle reese on the first game, boy the maker sure did like his movies.

  • anyobody notice snake looks like kyle reeses from terminator?XD

  • which came first Rambo 3 or This game the music sounds wuite similar overall this is a great song good work Kojima

  • The first track made it to Brawl. W00t!

  • When I bought MGS3 Subsistance These two games were the only reason I did. I wasn't going to until I heard that the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake were going to be in it as a bonus I had to. No questions asked.

The only down side is we didn't get what we needed to decipher the tap codes. Oh well the game still kicks ass.

  • This is one of the best in the series! This and the original Metal Gear were the whole reason I bought Subsistence.I bet I wasn't the only one who could give one hoot in heck about online gameplay.I didn't even play MGS3 when I bought this.

  • They should totally remake this. I mean, hell, aside from the bonus content on "MGS: Subsistence" and emulation, who's actually played this stateside? They wouldn't even need to go crazy with the cutscenes or dialog like they did in "Twin Snakes" this game would rock just being in 3D. I mean, look how much of it was reused for Metal Gear Solid. Kojima knew what he was doing - this is the most solid (forgive the unintended pun) chapter in the Metal Gear saga.

  • I totally agree! That's what I'm hoping the series is working towards with Big Boss's storyline. Portable Ops-->Peacewalker--->(one or two other Big Boss games ending in the ultimate creation of Outer Heaven)--> Metal Gear 1 full 3D remake--->Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake FULL 3D REMAKE!! That would be the plan if I were running things at Konami/Kojima Productions!

  • jjbb84, I disagree about the "full 3D remake".

  • Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

  • Yeah, but that dream of yours breaks one of the rules in Hideo Kojima's Metal gear games.

  • Hideo Kojima breaks his own rules all the time! How many times has he said "this is the last Metal Gear game I'm working on?"

  • 1-) Not all the time.

2-) You don't know what I'm talking about.

  • Enlighten me.

  • 1-) You claim that Hideo Kojima "breaks his own rules all the time" by basing yourself on one single (supposed) fact. I do remember Hideo Kojima saying that 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots' would be his last game, but so many fans requested another game with Big Boss that he gave in to peer pressure.

2-) If Hideo Kojima ever remakes the old MSX2 games, they'll have th remain in 2D format, otherwise, they can't be called "Solid". "Solid" reffers to the solid 3D graphics, not Snake.

  • Well then you must not have gotten the whole point of the joke trailer for MGS 4 where Snake, Raiden, and even Sam Fisher were battling for the director's chair--the whole subtext was built around the then-possibility that Kojima was going to "pass the torch" so to say to someone else.

And he later did admit that the whole "Solid" thing was a take-that to Squaresoft (square being a 2d object, versus solid referring to a 3d one).

But is this all really worth arguing about?

  • 1-) When did Sam Fisher appear?

2-) When did Hideo Kojima said that the "solid thing" was a take-that to Squaresoft ?

  • You can hear the Rambo 3 influence in this soundtrack. Great game. Im playing it now. Kojima is the man.

  • yeah i always noticed that rambo theme.. at 04:22

  • Wow. I got sucked into that intro and the game itself that I almost freaked out at the video ending. I had to remind myself that this wasn't a speedrun. LOL! Man, that game is involving!

  • The song at 07.02, did they use that in the VR-Missions in MGS: Ghost Babel for the Gameboy Color? I can't check it right now, cause I don't have any batteries for my Gameboy at this time. It feels so like awesome-action-80's-movie-music :)

  • no Metal Gear 2 came out so these tracks are the originals. Also VR Missions (Playstation and PC release of a seperate Metal Gear Solid training game) came before Ghost Babel so thats where Ghost Babel got some of its VR missions from.

  • I suppose you meant "came out earlier" and I knew that. My question was only if they reused the MG2-song for the MGS:GB VR-missions :)

  • Sweet, I love the intro!

  • I don't know why, but watching these retro Metal Gear playings makes me feel sorta depressed seeing Snake in his old state in 4.

  • Thank you for an other wonderful upload. * Is playing mg2 again *

  • I remember the comments on the Metal Gear 2 for NES video about the MSX version, it is a lot better than the NES version in every way, though we ARE comparing it to the NES' capabilities. The intro was like a movie, which is cool to see in a game from 1990.

    Campbell: "I need scissors, 61!

    Snake: "...what?"

  • Metal Gear 2 for the NES was actually titled "Snake's Revenge". Although it was produced by Konami, Hideo Kojima was not involved with it in any way. "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake" for the MSX2 was produced shortly after by Kojima. In terms of canonical storyline, MGS2:SS is the true sequel to Metal Gear (Both the NES and MSX versions).

  • Makes me think of the chronologically confused video AVGN made. Could have some fun with that, especially explaining how Metal Gear turned into a card game. =P

  • ya well..is there any way to get the rom ?? :P

  • Both of these MSX versions were also released on Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistance for PS2. They play perfectly and even have an easier difficulty, save feature, and bonus items (bandana) for beating the game, to make 'em extra playable.

    I highly recommend it

  • ya, I'm still stuck playing it on this keyboard. I do have Subsistence..but not technically. Not sure if it's a 2 or 3 CD set..but i had to get the Essential Collection when I got my slim PS2, which is just MGS1 MGS2Substance, and Subsistence CD1 only. fucking sucks, lolol all i get to watch is all the regular cutscenes whenever i want no Secret Theatre ahah

  • Cool, I think this is the best Metal Gear of the series (Well, the retro ones). This one should have made it to the Snes, cuz the MSX2 was kinda underground and/or unknown in the US.

    Thanks Garu!

    I love the series!

  • @Persiana I agree, I'm a hardcore fan of the series and even I think the first MG isn't that great, but MG2 is awesome!

  • @Rodlikespants The music kicks ass to.

  • Nice i love metal gear.
