Ive talked to many members of this family over the last 30 years at bluegrass festivals .They are wonderful kind ,friendly and open people you will ever meet .
Matthew and Hoover - he said that she'd made out her will -" there will be only women pall bearers and when I asked her why she said , well the men wouldn't take me out when I was alive and they sure ain't gonna take me out when I'm dead."
He says "she said there will only be women pallbearers because the men didn't take me out when I was living and they sure aren't going to take me out when I'm dead". His sister Miggie (who he was telling the joke about) was never married and he joked around with her a lot.
@DerDuke "she's only going to have women pall bearers. Why? the men wouldn't take me out when I was living and they sure ain't gonna take me out when i'm dead"
Tis simply great! love it. Great gospel music. It doesn't have to be perfect or anything, but it goes straightly to the heart and that's most important in music. thanks! Max
When you get right down to it, this group... well, lets just say that they do not care for being perfect, they do not care for presenting music in a gold, cookie cutter, spit shined version. They simply go out, sing their HEARDS AND SOULS out, have fun EACH time they do it, and it simply makes you smile, tap your foot, sing along, and fills you with the joy that a million perfect artists couldnt touch!
I was 11 years old when I first heard the Lewis Family sing Jacob's Ladder and, now at 46, have been a huge fan since. Even after 55 years on stage, what harmony!
They are the Band's Band....the Entertainer's Entertainment - You have to have spent some time on stage, or at least tried it, to fully appreciate what they do and how they are able to completely engage an audience.
I can not even begin to count how many times I have seen Honey in the rock. And everytime it makes me laugh, although I know exactly what is going on. The Lewis Family is such a talented and amazing group and is one of my all time favorites!
my 3 yr old son loves these two songs, he begs me to play it before bed time, he calls it "the funny man and the banjo song" x

Shari Easter is related, she is the daughter of Polly who stands next to Lil' Roy on this video. Isn't the resemblance amazing?

Little Roy is simply an amazing human being. If their were more of him on this old rock, things would surely be better.
