  • i cant understand why derek trucks isnt more well known and popular. his so talented and gifted. he was on the rolling stones list of the greatest guitar players and i had to go to youtube to find out who he was.

  • i cant stand when people always compare duane and derek. theyre both fucking great!!! you cant measure how good a musician is, because music is art...you know subjective

  • All that applause? It wasn't for Clapton, it was for Derek. Clapton is just a name, Trucks is the true talent.

  • @rockinredneck57 hehe you idiot they are both fantastic talent. Personally I think all the applause was for those black chicks singing backup...

  • That gave me chills, and then some tears in my eyes. Isnt this what music is about? Expressing emotions? Seems for alot of guitarists these days, its more about notes per second. That is depressing.

  • derek trucks is so fucking sick its unreal

  • Duane all man

  • Derek makes the case for reincarnation like nothing else.

  • @petervankan1 He's nothing like Duane. He's everything Duane was and more. The feel fore music of all kinds, not just the blues, that flows through Derek's veins is infinite.

  • Derek isn't the next Duane. Duane was the last Derek.

  • Two Genius Guitarists and beautiful music. This is why we love music.

Eric and Derek, if only any of us had 10 % of this we would be ecstatic.

    Gerry

  • Duane and Derek are both Guitar Gods! If you listen closely, especially with earphones, you will find that each has his own unique sound and style! We should enjoy them both, and I think if Duane were still with us, he would love to jam with Derek and visa versa!!

  • @suzabella68 Absolutely! Obviously anyone who knows anything about classic rock reveres Duane, and I'm sure Derek is no different, but I'm also positive that a living Duane Allman would have just as many compliments to give Derek as the other legends (Clapton, Landreth, Santana, Buddy Guy) routinely give him. Both are incredible talents. We lost Duane way too early.

  • This is the best Trucks solo I've ever heard!

  • 1:34!! Goosebumps!

  • derek fed off of duanes playing so much and im sure he would not be hesitant to agree with me... they're both wonderful players "to say the least". comparing is unnecessary, and also a little disrespectful.

  • Yea on his first records when he was a teenager. Listen all of Derek's recent stuff it sounds absolutely nothing like Duane. If you say it does, you are on crack. Derek created his own style of play, just like Duane did, using the influences of those that came before him to create something awesome.

Just enjoy the music, how bout that?

  • Amen, brother

  • Derek's beautiful lead playing!! Love this song by EC as well. thank for posting!

  • I saw this! Go Derek! He's up there in Heaven when he plays to us.

  • Never thought I'd see the day when Clapton would be blown off the stage by a young whippersnapper!!!

  • Awsome! Derek is the next Duane.

  • ..No.

  • i'm so sick of people comparing derek to duane. and not because i'm saying derek will never be as good or something, but because they're different. if you compare the two you obviously don't know that much/play much music

  • usually I'd a agree, like when people compared BB King to Slash or something crazy like that, but with the case of Derek vs Duane, i mean cmon, you can definatly compare them. You can compare people who play within a specific genre, like you can compare John Mayer with SRV pretty easily. (Im not saying hes anywhere near as good) Anyway, in my opinion, Derek is a better player than duane... if skydog wasnt dead, then derek would be able to prove it, which he sorta has already

  • In all honesty, I think it's safe to say that if Duane was still alive, he'd be SO much further along than he was when he died. I would say they'd probably be pretty comparable actually. Just my opinion though

  • Duane had such a short public span, but he was without equal. He and Hendrix played completely different and Clapton will tell you that they were both better than him. I like to think that Derek Trucks picked up where Duane left off......there is no knowing what would've been with Duane. Just enjoy Derek.

  • @fenderstrat918 Derek has been playing slide much longer than Duane ever did in his short life and most people still believe Duane was better. IF Duane was still alive he'd have 40 more years of playing under his belt and would probably be untouchable, "which he sorta" is already.

  • @da324 don't use the "if duane was alive he'd be god" bit. who knows what he would've been?

  • @johnjohnson510 If you're gonna put something in quotes, make sure the person you're responding to said it. Also, you'd have to be ignorant to think Duane wouldn't still be playing music if he was still around.

  • @johnjohnson510 Yeah who knows, he might've even died.

  • @alexsuperdude they both comparable and contrastable, so that you would say that is absolutly ridiculous, they would not have picked derek to play the slide for the allman bros if he couldnt compare to duane, he also grew up learning to play slide like duane using duane as his idol, on the other hand they have different styles and derek has a much wider range of music spanning from southern rock to blues to a more contemporary rock but to say they arent comparable shows your lack of knowledge
