Did he just say "Cruz, Jr" @ 2:15? That's Cruz, Sr. Also that card he presented @ 1:35 is the correct spelling "Doug Gwosdz." He played only 4 seasons with the Padres and his career batting average was .144 (15 hits in 104 at-bats).
If you check Ebay, you will see how many Mattingly RC's there actually are, and that let's you know you won't get near that much for it. Too common and easy to get today because of the internet. Something is only worth what another person will pay for it. Price guide prices are highly inflated to encourge the purchase of cards, not the individual sale of them.
@golfmaniac007 -- Where's the fun in that? The reason I buy cards in boxes, instead of individually, is for the thrill of pulling something good. Buying cards individually is also way too expensive on Ebay. And you never know what condition a card on Ebay is in unless you buy graded, and then $3 is not even close for a Mattingly RC graded.
@krisbenham im just saying mattingly being the most expensive card in that set can be had for $3 US. an unopened pack of 84 topps would retail for about $1.50-$2 right now. i know its fun to open wax pack. but only if there is something way more valuable then the price of an unopened pack.
@golfmaniac007 -- It benefits me to get 1984 wax and vending boxes because I can sell all of the cards on my site, not just the Mattingly. Because of this, it was a great opportunity for me to show the world what you may get in a vending box from 1984. Unfortunately, it was not a true unopened box, and I am glad everyone got to see that so they can be aware.
The biggest cheaters and liars are baseball card dealers. Vending boxes are a way for these cheaters to rape away all the good cards, replace VF/NM cards with G/F cards, etc. I am not saying that the person in the video is a cheater, but what i am saying is that if a person can open up a vending box , then they will. Why on Earth would a Don Mattingly rookie card be found here?
@philaboston -- Hmm.. I am the person in the video and I gaurantee that someone searched it before I got it on Ebay because there were 28 cards missing. I am sure that one of those was a Mattingly RC because the Strawberry RC, Ripken, Gwynn, and Sandberg cards were still in there. There are no other cards in this set worth taking, let alone 28 of them.

Even PSA graded '84 Mattinglys are not worth that much. The PSA 8's, which are good quality, are from about $15-$25.

@456stix $20 for a Mattingly rookie card, are you kidding? I thought the price was much more than that.
