  • This song sung by Sam is absolutely beautiful..........Thank you for posting very much appreciated...........

  • I love you & I miss you babe. I can't wait to be with you again. Sending my love from ND to TX.

  • Keep me here. Tie me down to this webpage.

  • Perfection. Beginning to end.

  • A little bit o sam cooke, love this. . .

  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? YOU COMPARE SAM COOKE TO STEVE PERRY? YOU MUST BE BLACK OR HAVE A BLACK SENSE OF HUMOR...

  • I'm sending this to my baby

  • This is The Best & I know R KELLY would BLOW THIS SONG AWAY TOO!

    Send Me Some Lovin

  • true

  • tuuune

  • Lo amo!!!!! XD

  • gotta love this old music, just has so much heart and soul in there.

  • my boyfriend who goes to school 1,000 miles away just sent me this. perfection

  • JUST LOVE THIS SONG

  • I'm pretty sure Rod Stewart listened to all of Sams stuff very closely.

  • @skeymoson

I think Rod also listened to Wilson Pickett. But I give credit where credit is due, Rod is no joke. He's no Sam, but he can "sang"

  • @skeymoson He indeed did. He even admits it. He listed to Sam ONLY for at least 2 years...even gargled a solution to make his voice more raspy, just like Sam.

  • man his voice defines pure, sweet, and beautiful...

  • @jay1beaux It was actually written by John Marascalco along with Leo Price. John wrote several songs for Little Richard and other performers. The cover I like best is Buddy Holly's. He was the second to record this after Little Richard. Hank Jr. did a great version too.

  • I have always liked Sam Cook, this is what I grew up on.

  • FANTASTIC VOICE, NO MATTER WHAT HE SINGS!

    JUST LOVE HIS VOICE!

    LOVE THIS SONG

  • i love this song and ALL of sam's songs! his voice is nothing short of AMAZING!

  • 2 favorite singers Steve Perry of the original Journey and Sam Cooke. Both sing with such rich soulful emotion.

  • magic love sam

  • Wait, are you saying Johnny Mathis? Is he known as a soul singer? I don't know. Nat king Cole is one of my favorite singers of all-time so is Mel Torme, but I wouldn't classify either of them as soul singers.

  • @archy2frank2 .Well my opinion was not necessarily based on the artist's soul or rmb status.....it was based primarily on "popular music" genre.....withstanding that i don't consider classical or opera "pop" music.....however, based upon the background of a natking, mel or a Roy, in that where they started from......I will have to include them in this line-up......what do you think?

  • Little Richard's version is good too.

  • Comment removed

  • Luther Vandross has to be in the conversation when it comes to the top 10 male soul and R&B voices of all time.

  • @archy2frank2 in this order...#1 sam, #2 stevie,#3 brian macknight, #4luther...and the rest of them

  • @tat3001 I like Brian Mcnight, but I feel Luther was a more gifted as a singer.

  • @archy2frank2 .....ok i can accept that..how do you rank the rest of the top 10????

  • @tat3001 Ok this my personal top 10. 1. Luther Vandross 2. Marvin Gay 3. Otis Redding 4. Ray Charles 5. Sam Cooke 6. James Brown 7. Stevie Wonder 8. Michael Jackson 9 Al Green 10. Teddy Pendergrass.

  • @archy2frank2 I'll explain mine #1.sam-because , you can very well argue that his era produced probably the best singers of all time, however his raspy yet smooth vocals in my opinion transcends him over the others.2stevie- in my opinion stevie is the greatest ARTIST of all time, the fact that his vocal range is so powerful(even seated), notwithstanding that he's playing the piano while being blind is incomparable.3luther 4brian 5mathis 6wanye(boys to men) 7natking 8michael 9royhamilton 10peabo

  • @tat3001 Wait I thought it was a soul and r&b list only.

  • @archy2frank2 ...YOU THINK THAT MATHIS HAVE ENOUGH SOUL IN HIM LOL??!!!!!!!

  • @tat3001 Wait, are you saying Johnny Mathis? Is he known as a soul singer? I don't know. Nat king Cole is one of my favorite singers of all-time so is Mel Torme, but I wouldn't classify either of them as soul singers.

  • lol well i tell ya my dear marvin is one of my favories too.and i respect your choice.sam leaving us so early didnt give us the opportunity to how he would evolved over a course of time through musical changes whereas we saw how marvin adjusted.little willie john is a favorite of marvins . sam and jackie always acknowledged his talent but somehow his contributions to music were forgotten.check him out.he deserves a crown too.once again yougot good taste i might need to keep in touch with you

  • Send it for me Nikki (L)

  • He

could take a nothing song and just make it great.

  • Beautiful voice..beautiful man...what a legacy of great music this genius left us.

  • I love Sam Cooke's take on this old Little Richard tune.

  • @jay1beaux haha I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that was a good joke, not bad knowledge :p

  • @MadSkeelz16 Little Richard did record this first--about 1958. Sam recorded it in the early 60s. Of course Sam Cooke had on of the most beautiful voices ever, but Little Richard did a good job. I believe that Little Richard wrote it also.

  • @jay1beaux Sorry, I meant one of the most beautiful voices.

  • i love singing to this great great great song R.I.P. Sam Cooke we you may not be here but your still in our memorises and hopefuly your music will live on for generations to come on

  • THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FAVORITE SAM COOKE SONG AND IT MAKES ME CRY NEARLY EVERY TIME!

  • Sam,Nat Cole,Donny Hathaway, and yes brotha Luther Vandross.....the best male vocalist of all times.

  • Please somebody, send me some lovin - damn if he ain't sing the shiggity out of this cut. What a beautiful voice. I wasn't born until 1969, but I have older sibblings who wore out a bunch of Sam Cooke 45s when I was growing up. Can you imagine the choir that consists of Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin, Al Wilson, Richard 'Dimples' Fields, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and so many more????

  • I think people should stop comparing him to Steve Perry. Cooke has more talent in his toe!

  • @xxrosietxx you got that right .sam is the original. the best at what he did in his own style.put sam on a stage with steve and steve would be in a world of trouble.good point buddy.

  • @TheSoulman44 - ur right Sam is the Best of the Best. But I still like Steve and he has always said that he takes his style of singing from Sam Cooke. I mean he has to give him his props, you cant help but hear that familiar raspyness.

  • @Taami oh yes mam no doubt, sam style is quite a foundation for everybody to learn and build on from steve to rod to otis johnnie taylor marvin david ruffin smokey aretha the list literally goes on and on that says a lot about the value of his talent and the impact and influence it had on the world of music. and its wonderful these artists acknowledge him.i see you have great taste in music my friend. may god bless you.

  • @TheSoulman44 - Oh Mr. Soul Man you just dont know. I LOVE the artist of old. Sam's voice is just so relaxing. But of course my ALL Time Fav is none other than Marvin Gaye. As much as I love Sam, Marvin is by far THE GREATEST... EVER! EVER! EVER!......... Did I mention, EVER!!

  • @xxrosietxx Agreed, but Sam Cooke was Steve's inspiration and you can tell he tried to sound like Sam Cooke in some of his songs.

  • @xxrosietxx Agreed, but Sam Cooke was Steve's inspiration and you can tell he tried to sound like Sam Cooke in some of his songs.

  • @xxrosietxx

What's wrong with comparing Perry and Cooke? Sam Cooke is where Steve Perry got his inspiration from.

  • 10 people don't want no lovin'

  • I would love to hear Steve Perry sing this song.

  • @angeleyz63 fuck steve perry

  • i would have crushed on him if i was alive back then

  • @buttababi2004 me too. Love Sam Cooke!

  • Man, this sounds like an ice cream cone with "sprinkles" on a hot, summer afternoon. What a gift from God this man & his voice was. It ended way way too soon.

  • @kippenkanoodle1 This man is the best! makes me laugh, cry and just, sit and think! Sam is the man, this song is so hauntingxxxxxx

  • best voice ever

  • This song makes me want to DANCE!!!!!!

  • drool...........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm................

  • Im2Bublelicious4u Yes, thank you. Talk about annoying. I was Genghis Khan in a previous life by the way.

  • I love love love love love him

  • The trouble with the world is not having, not sharing, not loving enough. Have you hugged someone today. Love always builds up, doesn't tear down. Love heals all things, bears all things, Love is the answer.

  • send me some lovin..send it I pray..how can I love you when you're so far away...

  • This song brings me to tears....Thanks for posting it.

  • one of the greatest soul singer garcias!!!!!!!!!

  • this song can do alot ;)

  • ONe of the best of many voices in the music industry

  • @REALCLASSIC1 I concur!

  • You know...terence trent darby has a similar voice...

  • @broccolihart1 i was about to disagree unitl i realized that guy who sings wishing well kinda does sound like sam but his voice is a little deep

  • Damn he just had an incredible voice. A nice tone but raspy, but still sweet with clarity...plus his melisma is crazy...the way he floates through notes like in the words "pray", "away", "dear", "are near" "still feel"...etc...that's gospel training right there...and those "ohs and ahs"...just incredible. It makes an old, rather boring standard song like this very interesting.

  • @indure08 i don't agree that it is old and boring

  • @arequipa1 I think you may have mis-read he said it MAKES a old rather boring standard song VERY INTERESTING

although I see how you could be misinterpreted...great song though :D

  • @indure08 You must be a singer yourself to describe SAM'S voice in such detail. I second everything to wrote.

  • Thanks suske23... I enjoyed it!!! Love me some Sam Cooke

  • I am a 195 year old Big Foot and I tell people my age on Youtube to get my thumbs up on my comments

  • @Im2Bublelicious4u lmao!!!!!

  • @Im2Bublelicious4u well, i'm 196

  • @Im2Bublelicious4u lol well, it worked, here's your thumbs up Bigfoot!

  • you know some times i cant listen to sam he just makes me sad beautiful singer so sad he's gone from the people that loved him bless always ...

  • Please check out Jimmie Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton's take on this classic. Blues Ballads and Favorites, Jimmie Vaughan. Thank you.

  • More important than the song...is the voice behind it, and perhaps more than the music itself.

  • Aww man Sam Cooke!!

  • I am a 63 yr old white woman and I have loved Sam Cooke's music since I was a teenager....what a voice!!!

  • I am a 63 year old white guy and I have been listening to and loving this music longer than most of you have been alive.

  • Why is everything a black / white thing / If you can really appreciate great music it does not matter! This is pure heart felt music and that`s all that counts!

  • I get chills listening to Sam Cooke's voice... this is beautiful and pure music...

  • Man, this guy could sing. Between him and Luther, it's a toss up. What a beautiful voice!

  • @mreman2 toss up for sure!

  • One of the greatest artists of all time....RIP Sam

  • @mxxxmcg. I concede that art is too subjective a term to debate so let just say that any songwriter that uses the words "motherf-----, bitch, shit" and worse is not worth researching. If I can't understand the lyrics on the radio because its all just a series of censoring bleeps then its not worth listening to. If I can't sit with my boys and enjoy a song because they would get grounded if they sang along, well then to me, its not worth anything.

  • Sam Cooke was the best in his field no impersonaters can come anywhere near to him, it been a long time coming to find someone with a sound like Sam Cooke

  • Sam Cooke was the best in his genere no impersonations can come anyway near to him

  • LOVE GENE VINCENT'S THE MOST BUT THIS IS GREAT TOO!

  • How could anyone dislike this swell cover?

  • much respecto for people who listen to Heavy Metal, for instance. Probably it's possible to feel the music and to be touched be it in your heart listening to Heavy Metal(i repeat, i say Heavy Metal for instance, nothin particular against this kind of music), but, why listening to other music, when you can hear it raw, directly from Sam's voice, or Otis's, or Aretha's, Simone's...and many many other black soul singers ? i like hip-hop, but when i listen to soul music, i deny of it

  • i wish sam had recorded more live albums!

  • did Sam or Little Richard write this?

  • I would kill in cold blood for Sam's vocal cords....

  • @yellaboy2617 lol who wouldnt ^^

  • my, my my, that voice, that golden, rich, velvety, voice....Gone too soon, Sam!

  • Hi All, I'm an Aussie soul/blues singer and just uploaded some videos incl an acoustic version of Sam Cooke's "A change is Gona Come."

I hope you check out my Chanel and enjoy what I do. I'm a BIG fan of Sam's and soul music. Best wishes - John

  • this is cool.. love the lyrics

  • this is cool.. love the lyrics

  • Cool wow awesome cheers for 2011

  • pure class says it all.

  • CHECK IT OUT!! SEAN GALE playing SEND ME SOME LOVIN'!!

  • I love his voice! Boy I wish he was still alive.

  • Love this song...

  • my dad was born in 1954 and he says Sam Cooke is the greatest musician of all time

  • Sam is the bomb! I think his greatest song was a change is gonna come.

  • I think that Sam Cooke was the greatest artist that ever lived!

  • @RonaldRuskowsky <--- yeah what he said!

  • Une voix de velours !

  • Thanks to my mom playing this around the house when I was little, I grew up to appreciate Sam and the music of this era. I went to h.s. and college in the 80s and I'm so thankful that my mom gave me this gift. I am now trying to do this with my young son. He's already noticing songs and making "requests". I just put it on in the house and in the car and just let his little ears enjoy just as I did.

  • SCREW THE 5 PEOPLE WHO DISLIKE THIS SONG

  • Well, here we are...folks lucky enough to remember this man's music are truly blessed to be able to hear the pure sound and feel of soul.... everything he sang was from the inner spectrum that only great singers have....but, the newer generation should listen and compare his style and genius with the singers of today.....very few, if any, can compare to this standard of music....

  • Well, I find Little Richard's original version is more funky rock'n roll, and Sam's cover is more soulful. Both are the masterpieces of the geniuses of the era.

  • such ah legend and such ah sad and confusing ending i know up to this day no one realy know who and wat was responsible for realy killing him but i know God knows and a change is gonah come!

  • one of the best singers to ever live

  • @pinky8465 my cousin sounded just like him......but growing up i didnt who Sam Cooke was....discovered him in 1998.....I heard my cousin 100%.......he must have been a Sam fan.

  • This is the first time I heard Sam Cooke's version of this song. I always liked Little Richard's version which is more Bluesy. This is very nice and smooth.... typical Sam Cooke.

  • how amazing is this guy, i love this song.

  • :( love this track

  • this song is so beautiful, Sam Cooke has such a wonderful voice

  • I am a 32 year old white female and Sam's music is always on my playlist and my kids' ipods. People like 'lil wayne and drake are not 'artists' they are entrepreneurs. They sell a product....but it is not art.

  • @eenafit

GOOD FOR YOU. YOU SAY YOUR KID'S HAVE SAM ON THEIR I PODS AND THAT'S A GOOD THING.

WE NEED TO BRING BACK REAL MUSIC THAT IS FILLED WITH LOVE AS OPPOSED TO A BUNCH OF NON-SENSE BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN IN LOVE.

IF LITTLE WAYNE AND THE REST OF THOSE PEOPLE HAD REAL LOVE THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO SING ABOUT IT. BUT THEY CAN'T BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED IT SO THEY HAVE NO PASSION WHEN THEY SING.

  • @eenafit Well said. Although I'm not sure about the definition of "art", it does seem as though the main focus of today's artists is money, where as in years past...it was music.

  • @eenafit while you have to respect some music as classic like sam's, I think you are making a generalization here. If you listen to some songs by Drake you will find that there is meaning to them and he is expressing issues he feels strongly about. Whether that is what you find beautiful or not does not make it a "not and art form." I don't think you have done enough research into all the music of wayne and drake to label all that they release as an artless product.

  • @eenafit AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @OJLuscious bitch

  • @shantiit00kewl DONT CALL ME A BITCH !

  • @eenafit I'm a 48 yr old black male and I couldn't agree more.

  • Comment removed

  • @eenafit Right on. I am a 34 year old black man and I love this music as much as you do. I agree with you too. Lil' Wayne and Drake are not artists, they are just tools for capitalism exploiting music to sell junk. Sam Cooke may be long gone, but his music has a lot of originality and class to it.

By the way, Sam Cooke was one of the best dressed men in history, and I follow his styles. Not to mention if you saw me dressed in a suit and tie, you could mistake me for Sam Cooke!

  • @eenafit why do you say you are a "32 year old white female"? Is that relevant? Or are you selling something?

  • @eenafit WELL IMMA 30 BLACK MAN AND YOU KNOW WAT UR RIGHT! RIGHT ON SISTA FROM ANOTHA MISTER !!!!!! LOL

  • @eenafit You are telling the truth...I'm 35 and I'm so grateful that my mother turn me on to Sam when I was young and my kids also love his music...I totally agree with you....

  • @eenafit never a truer word spoken.

  • Comment removed

  • @eenafit good for you, nobody gives a fuck
