  • Very cool. I have to get into mine as well for the foggers. You came up with a great way to do it easily and not mess up the mechanism. Very cool.

  • That is too cool! Building something similar to this has been on my wish list for a long time. Do you think the wind would mess with the lid?

  • Veddy Nice!, Looks great with the light and the fog. It's just the right speed too, and with those sound effects, it will be perfect. Clever idea to have it removable. Is it going to be triggered?

  • @DeadThingsYardhaunt Thanks..not sure it may just move the whole time.

  • you know steve...... one of my HR prop controllers would work perfectly for this. LOL

  • @ddoble77 Well? Lets see the damn thing you are really pissing me off :) Teehee

  • looks great. I did something similar with a wooden coffin and the lid was way too heavy for the motor to support. I ended up needing to add a caster for the lid to roll back and forth on.

  • @xabaras Cool thanks. I was worried about the weight but so far so good

  • if you have trouble finding thick foam try a roofing supply company and ask for iso board. close to the same price as the hardware stores but comes in various thickness from 1/2 to 3 inch. we use to repitch and insulate flat deck roofs. it does have a fiberglass type backing to it though. dosent irrate your skin its for protection from heat from hot tar or a torch . at least in florida anyway im sure its the same through out the u.s.

  • freaking awesome!!!

  • Very nice. Did you put a pivot on the foot side of the lid so it doesn't work it's way off over time?

  • @jeremydbrooks Yes the joint at the none moving end is two sizes of PVC that fit loose inside each other to create a pivot

  • Very nice, great idea.

  • sppppoooookkkkkkyyyyyy!!!! awesome prop Steve... keep a look out for snail mail from me...

  • Great looking tomb. Where do you get thick foam? I live in Texas as well and can't find it anywhere.

  • @JnCsdad I got it for free at the local elementary school that was being built a few blocks from my house. I got 8 4X8 sheets SCORE! Yeah really hard to find around here but I think The Depot or Lowes will order it for you. It was awesome to not have to layer the thin stuff.

  • Awesome 8D

  • Awsome!

  • Great job Steve! Simple, quick and a huge effect to boot.

How did you end up slowing the motor down?

  • Very cool Steve. Your just rocking out the props this year.

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttt!!!!!!!

  • Freakin bad ass! I will have to make one this year.

  • Wow...I like it. Simple but effective. Keep up the great work.

  • Awesome prop- never gets old does it!?!? I gotta get to work!!

  • You jerk, always making everything so damn fast. With that bust on it and the light inside, it makes the movement really stand out. Maybe stick some candles on top so you have some points of light to really emphasize the movement. YOU ROCK!

  • Since the moving prop thing is new to me I have a question. If you made the recessed circle larger on the lid it would open wider correct? So, how did you figure the diameter of the circle and the length of the mechanism arm? All the directions that I have seen tell you the lengths not how to figure it. Is there a method?

  • @abcnoyes2 I believe that making the hole smaller would actually open the lid more, since there would be less space for the arm to travel to pull it.... unless my brain is working backwards right now... it is kind of late. lol

  • Man that looks great.

  • that turned out working really well how did you end up pining th other end of the tomb so only the end with the motor moved ???? definatly like the way you did this versus the way i had thought of doing it ... alot less complicated.. wonder if a reindeer motor could move the lid,, the crypt i made is about half the size of yours

  • Awesome job, Steve! Happy Belated Birthday!

  • That is really clever. Simple and easy to break down. I especially like the sound the foam makes as it moves against another piece of foam. That noise used to drive my older brother crazy. Yeah, we used to make that noise a lot. :)

  • Awesome job Steve! I wanted to make another coffin because mine got warped this year. I wanted to make it out of wood, but I'm really liking how the foam one looks like. The movement for the lid is excellent!

  • I like the sound effects with it. That will be awesome.
