It was a Saturday, that train had the Boonton line to itself (or at least until arrived at this point in Denville, where it merges with the Morristown line.
Interestingly enough, this was the weekend prior to the opening of the Montclair connection and the abandonment of the old Greenwood Lake line between West End and Walnut St.
I remember riding behind the 142 at Lincoln park. We went about 1 mile beyond Dover and returned to Lincoln Park. had to be 2002, or 2003. Amazing riding behind it at main Line speeds. Amazing wistle, and stack sounds.
