How exactly does Kobe edge MJ? Kobe plays in a watered down league (see: expansion) with weaker rules to favor higher scores (see: the handcheck rule).
MJ did his thing at age 28 against SUPERIOR team defenses that were allowed, for lack of a better word, to maul him as he drove to the hoop.
If MJ were playing in today's league, with today's rules, he'd average 40+ points a game.

you can live in your world of make believe if you like, but i can only assume you were born in the 80's and have no clue about the Jordan of 1987-93 when he was unbelievable on both ends of the floor. He was a better perimiter defender than ANY of the guys you mentioned with the possible exception of Bowen in his prime.

Today's NBA is more athletic but WOEFULLY underskilled. That's why we keep getting beat in international comp.

Dunking and "crossing somebody up" doesn't mean jack if you can't hit a wide open 15 footer 80% of the time. Euro's hit those shots, set picks, make good passing decisions and play solid defense. They're moderately athletic...but nothing like our players. Skill will trump athleticism most of the time.
If we sent the Detroit Pistons to the olympics or world's, they'd win hands down.

The 81 pts scored by Kobe (against a no defense team) isn't anything compared to 63 pts that Jordan scored on the legendary defense of the Celtics. When you see Kobe you can see he was heavily influenced by Jordan. It's funny to remember how Jordan was never known for his jump shot when he got in the league (but he was very good) but Kobe somehow took that too and started working on his jumper.

Wade shut down Kobe on Christmas Night. Look at the other games they went head to head, wade just killed him. Kobe's a Hall of Famer, but he's a pure shooter. He can't rebound, or dish (career rbg 4, career apg, 4).

Magic Johnson and Larry Bird are the BEST... Jordan succkkkksss!!! Jordan was the bestfriend of all the referee!!!! Jordan played a mere 33 more games than Bird. Why so many more trips to the line? Jordan was notorious for drawing 'excessive sympathy' from referees. Average trips to the line per game - MJ 8, Bird 4.
