  • I have a question. Do you like men? Because I'd like to fuck your brains out for this tutorial. Thanks!!

  • Your arn awesome! Please do humanity a favor are reproduce. We need more smart people like you.

  • I bought a replacement screen for my macbook but the new screen didnt have any marking on either side of the cable coming from the screen itself so i looked at my old screen with the writing on and noticed the holes on the end of the cable will that help me decide which way to put it in??

  • will you marry me?

  • okay my bad, the screen is connected but not the backlight.

  • the cable that seats under the fudge cover, is this not seated if the apple logo doesnt come up during test? only way to correct this is to keep trying?

  • Please help. I followed all instructions and now my new screen as well as my old screen is black with just the faintest light of the apple visible. I tried reconnecting the new screen five times or more. Can you tell me what's wrong?

  • Great Job thank u for doing this video , would u please make one explaining how to remplace the optical drive . Ty

  • Thank you. Be gentle with the plastic clips from the white frame are a bit tricky as they tend to bend or break.

  • Have you done a unibody macbook yet? Possible or no? Thanks

  • @j0hnyb0y1 white unibody

  • i followed the video precisely but i got video wat could have i done wrong , i plugge the cable in correctly imean i got no video

  • i followed the video precisely but i got video wat could have i done wrong , i plugge the cable in correctly

  • This is a great "how to do it video".

The hardest part is to insert the Inventor cable in but by prying the cover, I could see the receptacle and by using a paper clip appropriately bend, inserted the male connector in.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for this tutorial, my husband and I just successfully replaced the broken screen on his macbook. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to do it!

  • Hi, i followed you're instructions, but I don't get any backlight or video. Not even on the (partly) broken screen that I started with. What could've gone wrong?

  • IMMA ROCK STAR :D

  • Awesome!!!

  • wow, finally a video showing reassembly. thank you, and you make it look like 10x easier than any other video i looked at.

  • Nicely done, and an incredibly beat-up MacBook I just purchased for cheap (broken screen, no power supply, no battery, bad DVD drive) is now running great. On mine, most of the gray retainer clips that hold the plastic screen bezel (the item you remove first) came off with the bezel, so I had to pull them off one by and and reinstall them into the metal LCD frame. Small Dog Electronics rocks; I bought software and hardware from these peeps eons ago. Glad they're still around!

  • AMAZING! I'm 16 & it worked for me(:

    Love this chic.

"But you guys already know that, because yer rockstars" <- cracked me up for hours.

  • can yo tell me when you have a inverter bad how is the symptoms?

  • dam u did it in 15 minutes, took me 4 hours

  • Do you have any clips or can you share a clip about replacing the top case i have a few keys on my keyboard not working need help on that. I haven't change my LCD screen as yet, I waiting on my shipment to arrive by Monday.

  • anybody know where I can get a macbook LCD screen? Desperate!

    Great video by the way

  • Have to say thanks here. I work as a tech for an Australian based AASP and we've recently received 15 MacBooks with cracked screens for repair. I'd say using this technique we can get the lot done relatively quickly (hopefully) and with a better quality of repair as well. Very useful. Will definitely be following your work from here on. :)

  • Do you happen to know if it's possible to replace the inverter without having to disassemble the entire damned machine? Seems that the clutch cover would get in the way, but you being a "rock star" and all, I figure you might know...

  • thank you thank you thank you

the only frustrating part was I did not have the proper tools should have researched that first, what is the name of the tool you used with the small hook at the end, I ended up using an old dental tool.

  • @johnson2093

The "dental tool" you can buy of any Snap On truck. These things are sold as sets (different tips) for removing o-rings on automotive assemblys.

  • Wow, you are slick girl, just need to get that funky pick somewhere and then I can do this. Any idea where to get such a tool for the inverter connector ?

  • Question: How would i go about getting a replacement LCD screen?

  • I have the newer white one where it doesn't have a battery place underneath that I can see

Can I still do the same thing just not remove the battery?

  • @kaiyjay yep

  • You're awesome!! thanks....

  • How much to repair a cracked screen?

  • This girl is awsome!!!!

  • screen wont light up..why?!?

  • great video thank you

i followed your direction and fixed my husband lcd

  • How much does it cost to get an lcd repair?

  • hello, i stupidly used "screen cleaner foam spray" on my macbook pro screen (pre-unibody) and moisture has gotten into the screen resulting in a large light patch/bubble in the screen. The screen still functions but with this ugly anomaly in the corner. Will I have to replace my screen or is there some kind of cure??

Please tell me there is :-S

    Thanks

  • where can i buy the macbook screens and how much are they? Ypu are really good i wish you can fix my macbook!

  • tool from Fry's Electronic's called 8" Spring Hook Tool by GC tool part 12-2018 $3.95 w/ hook on each end. Used black stick to wedge open cover over the inverter board. cut off the old plug from damaged screen and practiced couple of times with old plug and the hook tool to get the hang of seating the plug on the inverter board before installing the new screen. When you take off bezel some snaps will stick to it remove them put them on the metal frame or u will not re-install bezel correctly

  • I had it working this morning. Nice bright screen. My wife used it later and also had no problem. When I tried to log in this afternoon, I got the dark screen, where I could barely see anything. When I CTRL-EJECT'd I could see the Restart .... Shutdown dialog window. I removed the bezel, used the curette tool my dentist gave me and re-seated (could actually see it from the side). Reboot left me again with a dark screen. Any suggestions are appeciated.

  • Very helpful, thanks!

  • Thanks Rebecca, your shortcut made a major disassembly into a much less time consuming job. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us do-it-your-selfers.

  • I went through all of this and the inverter was such a pain in the ass but while installing it i seemed to pop off the two corner casing things that sit below the bezel so now the two wires (wireless antenna and blue wire and the black and grey wires on the other side) do not fit behind and i have it screwed in with them exposed...my bezel is all messed up becasue of it so i dont know what to do to get it to ever sit right again

  • Iv looked it up they are called the scoops, you think apple would charge me alot to reset my screen so that it stays together?

  • thank you SO much!!!! I had been looking at photo tutorials for months now and I accidentally stumbled on to your videos. you're amazing. my computer looks great! and it was so simple!!! :)

  • ehh everything worked fine but now the front bezel wont snap back on...i tried to do it exactly as she did...can any1 plz help me???

  • I finally got my inverter cable plugged in but the screen is really dark like the backlight isnt coming on. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance...

  • Chances are, though you think you plugged it in, you didn't. The male end is on the inverter board, if you pull the cover out enough, use a small flash light, and look toward the front (keyboard side; not screen side) you can see where it plugs in. If you are 100% certain you did it correct, you may have damaged the wire or the clip. That would not be good.....

  • sometihng wrong with the inverter cable

  • i want to do this to my other macbook because the lcd is broken, can you please tell me what tools did you use in order to do this??

    thanks!

  • HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE CASE BEHIND THE LCD?.. is there just a few screws left and its removed or is more complicated?.... i need to replace it but IDK how.

  • To remove the display rear housing from the Macbook (the white or black plastic shell with the Apple logo on it) you will need to remove the display assembly from the machine and then remove the LCD, inverter, magnets, camera and hinges. It's a more involved repair than this video shows and there's no way to do it without removing the top case.

  • hmm, cheers for the tutorial, i punched my screen in an act of rage :(, will try to fix it now :P

  • thank you so much

  • i fucking love you!

  • wow, that was less than 15min! thats what i call professionalism!

  • You are fucking awesome!!!

  • thx rebecca, ur great

    epic win :)

  • do you recommend buying an LCD screen made by apple? or is it safe to buy one from another manufacturer like LG?

  • definitely lg, they are a good brand and are way cheaper than apple, this macbook is old now so why waste more money on a lcd

  • you are a freaking rock star. I think you're going to save me $700.

  • Anyone have issue snapping the face bezel back in place. Mine wont pop back in all the way for some reason.

  • mine too

  • Just curious, how much would you charge a customer for such a repair? Apple wanted 755.00!!!!

  • One thing that helped me was peering into the hinge with a flashlight. I was actually able to see the inverter plug and orient myself. It's under the little tab looking thing closer to the front of the machine. Awesome video thanks so much!

  • Question: what is a black stick and should I attempt this surgery without it? It looks like a nylon screwdriver; will a regular one damage the case?

    Thanks!

  • After I did the blind plug in. I checked to make sure if i had video just like you did. When i checked it, i could barely see the screen. but i Could see it. just really really dark. what happened?

  • what do i do if i cant get the front panel thingy back on you just snap it right on

  • you're awesome! i wish we were friends :)

  • "slide my black stick inbetween the..."

am i the only one who lol'd? i'm not the only one with a dirty mind, right?

    ...right?

  • wrong dude your sick!!! shame on u hahaha rofl

  • can you give a list of the different tools you used?

  • You saved my nephew an ass-whuppin by his pop after he smashed up his screen wrasslin'. I fixed in like 1 hour for 120 bucks in parts. You rule. Tell me where to send your appreciation gift.

  • Okay... 2 hours. You made putting that bezel in look too easy.

  • Thank you!, you saved me $1000

    You're the Rockstar!

  • Im trying to do this and the inverter cable is not clicking into the inverter board. can anyone give me advice. the back light does not work when i turn it on either.

  • "but some of you already know, because your rockstars"

    aahahahahhaha

  • THANK U SO MUCH, U ROCK!!! appreciated

  • Nice video, hope you make some more repair ones :)

  • Thank you for posting this! Very helpful!

  • Question?

How do I become a Apple Certified Tech?

  • I think you need to do applecare technician training, google it and you can see it on the apple site.

  • IM A ROCKSTAR!

I didn't know the magnet was a sleep sensor. Good to know...

  • Very informative and pretty cool demonstration.
