im kinda young i bet compared to most the people who listen to there older music because well im only 14 but i didnt just know them for staceys mom... even tho that song did make them famous and probly gave them there biggest money pull in ever! but they rock no matter what
"Radiation Vibe" is a pretty cool song, but the first Fountains of Wayne song I ever heard was "Stacey's Mom" so that's my standard for them. Have you heard their funny "I Want an Alien for Christmas" song? :p
Fountains of Wayne were HUGE on college radio way before "Stacey's Mom." I worked as an on air jock for WDWN (Auburn, NY) from 95-97. We played this song, "Sink to the Bottom", "Joe Rey", "Survival Car" and "Leave the Biker" extensively. FoW rules!
profnasty, 54yrs. Hey kiddees. Didn't mom and dad tell you drugs are bad. This is a great song with a dark, sinister vid. The two are disjointed. Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think. And stay off the sauce.
These guys are SO far beyond great--and so under-appreciated that it pisses me off. That they're not almost as big as the Beatles makes me want to declare jihad on their behalf. And I'm not even a Muslim.
both Adam and Chris were 28 when they did this album and video, which would make them 40 now. not sure about the other guys in the band now, as they were not original members of FOW. Chris and Adam were Fountains Of Wayne as a duo from 94-99 when they added ther two other guys
looking forward to see these guys play this month in NYC. Great pop sensebilities... Hey... Didn't the bassist, Adam Schlesinger write the song, "That Thing You Do" for the Tom Hanks movie, "The Wonders"? What a talented group of musicians! Rock on, boys!
I never really liked that song. I think This song,Radiation Vibe is better. I mean the guitars and vocals are more melodic. Plus I prefer the songs majority of people don't know. :)
i just joined the military and was in Rota, Spain on the Naval base when i bought this cd. gah, i cant believe that was 11 years ago! 90's indy rock still rulz!
Catchy Americana, workmanlike video. No new ground is broken here or afterward, but clever, intelligently penned lyrics and memorable, almost ingratiatingly delivered hooks and riffs make FOW worthwhile through their first three albums.

'Catchy Americana' ? Is that what Ash are as well then..? Most folk would have it down as Powerpop... in which there is probably rarely any new ground broken... just some have refined it and have it honed better than others, like these, Ash, & the mighty Weezer.
I do beleive it is physically impossible to listen to this song and not be singing the chorus to yourself for hours afterwords. These guys have writtien some of the catchiest songs of the last ten or so years. I highly recommend the album Utopia Parkway -- brilliant.
And of course, you have to love how the bass drum just reads "OF." Clever clever.

The late and mighty Radio1 dj John Peel introduced me to these guys way back in '95 and I've loved them ever since.

I hated it when everyone acted like these guys were new when Stacy's Mom was out, I remembered and loved this seven years earlier

Can't believe this is the same band that put out that piece of sh*t "Stacy's Mom". Brilliance vs. banality.
