This is crap, or, as Richard E. Grant said in 'How to Get Ahead in Advertising', it's the distortion of truth by association: they've interspersed later clips of punters at punk rock gigs to beguile the viewer that this sort of stuff went on at Roxy venues. She's talking tripe too: Roxy Music was a band for sad Martini advert posers, not for alienated youth. Also, Ferry got the idea for his record covers from jazz mags. And just like Siouxsie, it's embarrassing. Bloody BBC tosh.

@TimothyAnorak Yes, the are the 'wrong/false' clips, caus' I recognize them from a punk documentary. But I have seen footage where the audience did dress up. And they DID speak to alienated youth, just ask Morrissey and Johnny Marr, members of Madness, etc. Also, listen to songs like In Every Dream Home a Heartache, The Bogus Man or Sea Breezes if you really think it's music for 'sad Martini advert posers'.

This looks really interesting. What is 'The Roxy Music Story'? A TV documentary? Is it out on DVD? I'd be very grateful if you could let me know. Roxy Music were great in the '70s, but when they got back together in the '80s they were absolutely sublime. I saw them live in Vatican City (!!!) in 1984, and it was wonderful. And Siouxsie is great too, of course. Thanks for the post

She didn't mention it here, but Siouxsie and the Banshee's might never have happened without Roxy Music. Because founding Banshees members Severin and Sioux first met as audience members a Roxy concert at Wembley Stadium. She was wearing some kind of memorable costume rented from a costume shop. Severin invited her to a party, they started hanging out, became part of the Sex Pistols' entourage, and went on to form their own band. The rest is history!
