What he means is that you need to understand revelations to be able to know HOW to follow the true Christ when the time comes that deception is everywhere (as in now, and soon)

You're right about following Christ, but it is not so black and white as you may think; Satan will put up a fight of deception; Satan will try to penetrate our faith and lead us to the wrong path.

So what you need to do is learn the signs, so that you are ready to fight Satan

One thing is for sure and that is that Christ is returning soon so our work as believers is to have the holy spirit within us, to be watching & ready, to help the needy, & to preach the good news that Jesus died for all mankind to make men right with God. Also the holy spirit testifies to our spirit so we will know our shepherd when he comes.
