  • Then I imagine that you must have constructed the piping in such a way as to keep the pulses separated.

Ill be using two small, 35mm, watercooled tial wastegates to keep the pulses segregated on my new set-up. I hope that it sounds as good as your when its done. Thanks for tolerating my Q and A.

  • @originaldriver The two banks Y together right at the turbine housing inlet. There is a small pocket shared by both sides at that point. That is also where the single wastegate is mounted. Check out my other vids. There is at least one that gives a good view of the exhaust system.

  • Good grief!! How high is that thing revving?!

  • @originaldriver The exhaust pipes make it sound like its revving higher. Redline is 7800 rpm. Shift points around 7400 rpm.

  • @DonW21G Then Im going to assume that you are using even length headers and a divided turbine housing, yes?

  • @originaldriver That's correct.

  • @DonW21G I have a 60 degree 3400 v6 that I swapped into my 95 camaro, (now getting swapped for a built 3500 v6) that used a similar set-up and produced a sort of high pitched exhaust note like that. Still, it wasn't anywhere near that high a frequency. You must be using a split-pin crank as well. It sounds exotic!!

  • @originaldriver You're correct. I am using an even fire crankshaft. It is a split pin crankshaft. Balanced cylinder power, increased VE and even exhaust tone were important reasons for coming up with the exhaust system that I did. Thanks for the compliment. I like the sound too.

  • @DonW21G Tell me, are you using two wastegates or a single?

  • @originaldriver A single 60mm HKS wastegate and one Godzilla BOV.

  • Love what you do Don. Thinking outside the box when it comes to these old Turbo Bricks...

  • I wonder if this car is even still running now

  • Check out my latest video.

  • @DonW21G I know of a way you can spool that turbo with more boost off the line, with no nitrous.

  • @Nettikturbo Will it allow me to build 17 psi boost in 2 seconds without popping and banging?

  • @DonW21G Yes, everyone knows about anti-lag I wouldn't waste your time with that. Go ahead and email me we'll talk about it. This will require to to buy another wastegate.

  • A most recent tuning discovery has made the need to raise the torque converter stall completely unnecessary. Check out my most recent video posted 7/31/10.

Turbo Nitrous/Methanol Anti-lag System with Afterburner Augmentation.

  • Sounds like your converter is still too tight and its very lazy off the line, we went through a stage like this some time ago.

With our 240z and a 182ci straight 6, we were able to hit the transbrake and get from just off idle to 6500-7000rpm with 30psi boost in just over 1 second, it then leaves hard and strong, have a listen to some of my video's.

Your 60ft will drop considerably when you get it to leave fully on song, best of luck :-)

  • Thanks for the insight. I'm still playing with the launch tune. If I run out of tricks, then I may throw in the towel and loosen the TC.

  • cars running good me likie!!!!! bye the way im kingots on the board

  • Thanks, kingots. I'd still like to get close to another tenth off the 60', but she's very close. Got some plans for that.

I'm very happy with the way she's running now.
