loved your tutorial. If I wanted to make flip flops with a tennis ball or racket in the center of the adjoining straps, do you have any suggestions for making the design? Also do you recommend using sandals with a wedge heel?
@marcie1958 You could always just glue on the tennis racket or ball in the center of the straps, allow it to cure and then add the rest of your crystals in a pave design (like my other tutorials). Just try laying the design out before gluing it to the flip flop. Good luck!
Hi Do you have any idea how much stone would necessary to cover a shoes, like the guy does in redo my shoes, I really would like to know,Im from Brazil. I love what you did with havaianas so nice, Please send me some tips..Muito obrigada!
@ThePerola2011 I'm not sure how many stones it would take to cover the type of shoes you are talking about - it's really going to vary with the size. Most of the flip flops use around 300 (total) or so crystals to cover the straps. I've done shoes before and they generally took 500+ crystals depending on the design and size of the shoe.
@MiddiVampira I've also done fabric and bead flip flops, but I haven't done a tutorial for it. The process should be the same even if you use sequins, buttons, beads or anything small. Good luck!
can anybody tell me where to get the flip flops? I checked out Cariris, wedged flip flops, but they all have a ruffled strap. (in this video, they look pretty smooth!) Thanks
@felicity12100 Hi -- The Cariris do have a ruffled strap and most every flip flop you find will have one also. Any flip flop that you can find online or in a store will most likely work. Just make sure to measure the strap width to make sure that the row of crystals will fit across the strap. Many straps are too narrow to fit a row of three. Good luck!
You are a great Tutorialist (is that a word? ha)! Would love, next time, for you to tell us the cost of each of the items you use to create these, including glue, tools, etc etc. Just a thought. Would love to know at the end how much the entire project will cost. Thanks much!!
@Shkeptic Thanks, Shkeptic! That's a great idea, I'll definitely include prices next time. I didn't include any of that info this time because I purchased all of my supplies at wholesale prices not available to the public.
@zimm919ang The gaps between the crystals are very small. If you want to fill them with other tiny crystals, it's going to be a very tough job. Good luck!
I made a pair for my daughter, I noticed that the crystals are starting to shift around...any idea what I did wrong? Too much glue? or maybe I didn't roughen up the straps enough? Help...
@shortballerz If the crystals are shifting, it's probably because they glue didn't finish curing before they were worn. This can also occur if the flip flops get wet but aren't allowed to dry before wearing again or if they are stored in the heat (like a car or in the sun). Hope this helps!
@sandramarie69 I used 16SS (3.9 mm) crystals for the flip flops. You can use smaller, but they are hard to work with. If you use larger crystals in a large quantity, they may fall off.
@rachel1espinoza Swarovski crystals are not cheap but I buy them at wholesale. The retail prices varies depending on the quantity, style, color, and the retailer. I recommend checking out bluemud.com to see prices.
You could always use Swarovski Crystal Rhinestones in place of the real thing. Way cheaper, less OMG if one falls off due to wear n tear, and use just the same as the real thing
@esporsh If the straps are fabric, I would recommend using hotfix crystals and a hotfix wand if the fabric is really thin. If it is thick then try the glue. Experimentation is the key!
@kenya when using havianas do you have to shave the haviana logo off first as it is raised on the straps higher than the design. If so, how do you shave it off. tks
Thanks for the feedback! I'll be posting another flip flop video soon on how to do Swarovski crystal flip flops with rows instead of flowers. Thanks for watching the video!

Have you ever used sequins or beads?
This is awesome and I'll probably do this on my first pair of flip flops. :]
