  • This was Soooo informative, thank you!!!!!

  • this is the first video i watched that someone mentioned the swatch method which i think will be the best at determining. thanks!

  • awesome, this was really helpful

  • I love how you said that "faces are not made up of one color".... Makes total sense.

  • Cont:: Is there any where other then going to makeup corner cuz we have non close n girls in drug store are teenagers normaly and just confuse me or if more then one working they cant decide and with being a mother of 6 I cant keep wasting money on it,,,i just need one person who can help point me in right direction to havin nice lookin makeup on my face..thanks so much for any help u can give

  • ughhh this is so irrating I am 30 n just now getting into makeup before I had my bio kds in 09 i had flawless skin and did not need makeup... well now my skin is a hot mess! And seems like no one can agree with my skin type or if im cool or warm!!!!!!!!!! this is getting very depressing for me I want to feel at least a lil bit pretty again n I am so confused on what I am and what to use! I know to some it is crazy at 30 idk but i also took for granted I would have same skin i did for 28 yrs

  • so what if my face is pink but my body is dark? im like 8 different races and im all kinds of confused!

  • I have blue veins in my arms which means I am a cool however I have moles and freckles on my face and when I blonde my matt brown hair it becomes strawberry blonde. Also when I wear peach clothes I look good. I bought a Max Factor Second Skin foundation in warm almond and it suits me. Can someone please unscramble this mess for me? I need to know- it just doesn't make sense.

  • This was really helpful thanks I never understood how to use a color wheel until now (:

  • Hey! I've been trying to guess what you are, because I'm trying to learn, I thought you would be a warm or neutral, but you said your a cool? I thought this because the gold earings near your face looked good with your skin and i read somewhere that silver compliments cool skin tones and gold compliments warm, is that true and is it a good way to determine other peoples skin tones? I want to be a makeup artist and im trying to learn how to match foundation since i have trouble with it. :) xx

  • what is your opinion of younger girls and make-up?

  • What if you have more blue veins but then you also have like one green/olive vein? Would you be considered cool because you have more blue or nuetral because you have somewhat a mixture of both?

  • I was matched up with foundation once at Estee Lauder in Gottshalks and the woman matched my face up with these color swatches. I put on the foundation and powder in the bathroom and walked out, realizing I looked like a geisha/ghost. I think it's ridiculous to not match up with a mirror and actual foundation swatch. I didn't realize my skin tone until I watched this video, and actually also when I went to Macy's.

  • Your videos are so helpful! but...

when I go to the make-up counter how do i know which foundations are cold or warm?

I have a collection at my house. but i'm still confused as to what I am. it's really frustrating because lately I've been getting really bad break-outs and my face is starting to scar.

  • thank you. I am almost 44yrs old and i just recently decided i must be a neutrale skin tone because yes you can see my blue vains on my wrists, but i also in the past few years been able to tan. I have tried pink toned foundations and they look a way to pink on me. I thank you for this video as it reconfirms what i have now decided upon. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND GOD BLESS!

  • thank u!! i actually im a neutral, though more towards warm & i mix 2 diff foundations, 1 from MAC (this 1 is more yellow) n one other lesser known brand which is a cool tone. i add more of MAC lets say ratio is mac:other + 3:1 & it works for me.. i also feel if u ve 20 dollars 2 spare go pick 2 foundations f d same color one in warm & one in cool & wear both on diff days ul instantly know what u are..besides f ur neutral it wont go 4 a waste as u can mix the 2..i suggest tryin loreal or revlon

  • Love you so much thank you so much I'm trying to be a makeup artist and you have been so helpful thank you

  • Hi, I need your help, I think I'm olive, I'm hispanic, tan easy (NC 40 in depth), look good in almost any color, except orange & yellow. Most say I'm warm,My problem is cool shades look pink, warm look orange, both make the surrounding skin look really yellow green. I have so many foundations, most are too orange, could I buy a green or blue corrector & mix it in, to make it more olive? I'm thinking blue would cancel out orange? or green would cancel the red leaving behind yellow and green tones?

  • I love ur videos not only r they informative, which is very important but mainly ur not boring. Both u & Kandee r my fav's. I'm in the process of self training to become a established MUA it's my life long dream. So thank u for all the valuable info u provide. PS I'm struggling to a counter position @ Macy's my resume is Tailored to there requirements u think if I sent you a copy u could help figure were my problem is. I've redone it 4 times now!!!

  • I have obviously blue veins, almost black hair, dark golden brown eyes, and lots of light brown freckles. The freckles confuse me; they look warm to me. How should I pick a foundation?

  • okay I cant figure it out! I have kind of green veins on my arms. I have olive skin tone and it gets very pale in the winter but in the summer i tan very easily, i dont burn. My skin sometimes can look very yellow or even appear green at sometimes, its never really red or pink,.

  • This is wonderful!!! Thanks what a big help!!

  • I asked this woman at the store who works for Lancome & she told me b/c I'm dark I need to stick to dark colored foundations. She then proceeded to pick out a color that looked like a fake tan for me. I then went w/ the wrist thing & I bounce between beige, classic beige, & warm beige in Cover Girl. I later went back to find out the color she chose for me was called mocha or coffee or something to that effect. I don't know, I saw the bottle & kind of slipped away when she wasn't looking.

  • Thanks for your video, you cleared up my confusion about my skin undertone. I'm an NC30 in MAC and so I thought I must be a cool undertone but I knew I have yellow undertones so I was confused for awhile.

  • everytime I get matched I come out as cool but I really want neutral to conteract some of the pink how can you tell if a drugstore foundation is neutral ? I have a really hard time with this undertone thing

  • i look at my veins...there have green n purple/blue?? so what skin tone am i?

  • @nekyo cool

  • @nekyo Cool tone :)

  • Hello,

Mac foundations works the opposite of our undertone if I'm Cool I should wear Warm, If I'm warm I should wear Cool.

All brands works like that when they have C and W undertones? Or is only Mac?

  • @pabritova Just MAC

  • Thanks to this, i just got my perfect foundation!(: thank you tons <3

  • ok i have a question..what if u tan..how would u find ur color correctly??

  • @MiSsKaTieMoNsTeR try to swatch it in your neck... if it matches you perfectly go a little bit lighter... if it is lighter than your neck... try to stick to that one...

  • awesome, most helpful tips!! thanks!

  • @lotty971 no use a warm toned foundation, the cool tone may look weird on your skin tone. If you want to take away some yellow I suggest using a foundation with more coverage :)

  • @spanish4real I have the same problem, use a cool foundation on your skin but to even out the rosacea use a warm concealer of foundation on the red parts only underneath the cool foundation :)

  • @dayabas at Mac the nc foundations are for warm tones and nw are for cool tones, they swap it around :)

  • I absolutely adore you! You're so bubbly and you know what you're talking about!! This was very helpful. I am still trying to find the right color. I do have a question about this....How do I know if teh foundation I'm getting is a cool or warm? I buy covergirl (because its all i really can afford) and I don't know how to tell if its a cool or warm. Help?

  • besides foundation what eye shadows look good on cool and warm tones?? can you do a video on it? please? thanks!

  • Oh My God, I love you. You just cheered my day up; you're happiness is contagious! As well as being excellent at your job. Thank you!

  • So if I am a pale girl with a lot of rosacea should I use a cool foundation (pinkish) or warm (yellowish) please help me

  • This was great thanks.

  • hey great vid!

i am pale, with a yellowish undertone. so should i use "cold" foundation to take the yellow out of my skin?

  • Okay, thanks I was planning on trying a mac foundation in the next few weeks and hate shopping at dept, stores!! So even though I am cool toned I should pick the shade I think best suits me, but the one with the W in the front of it instead of the C? Why doesn't mac have a bit of its line at Sephora? I wish they would.

  • This is SOOOO helpful! God bless you! You explain this so very well!

  • I absolutely love you!

So I looked at my veins, and they diffinately have a more green colour than blue, and you cant see them all that well! so i am guessing that it is most likely that i am have a warm skin tone!

so if i was to go to mac, rather than getting NW20, it would be better for me to get either NC20 or NC25 im guessing?

    i love your videos camille!x

  • Oh my gosh Camille! This was so helpful! I've never been able to figure out my skin tone or what foundation suits me best! I've always asked some people from MAC but they were actually kinda rude! Anyway... Thanks again! Love your videos!

  • Just yesterday, I went shopping for a face powder (Loreal true match) and noticed that there's 2 categories: Cool and Warm and was confused and wasn't sure what they meant. Thankfully, I just went with my instincts and got the warmer shade (since I am dark) and it shows up nicely on my skin and TODAY after watching your video I checked and realized that I do have green veins and therefore am a warm. So anyways, thank you for your tips and esp. this one. It really helps!!

  • I luv talkinmakeup

  • I love u Camille u r my idol u have a great show u make up my Fave list

  • Thanks for the tip. Very helpful

  • I'm warm cuz I was matched at a MAC counter, and I can see it, but Ik I'm definately warm cuz I look great in brown, tan, and olive

  • this is funny last time I saw this video I was warm and now I am cool aaaaaaahhhhhhh.... I always have problems wiht foundations!!!

  • Hey there! So quick question....lets say I have cool undertones....should I try to match my cool undertones with foundation? Or counteract them with foundation? I know to counteract blue spots like veins and things I would use a orange concealer...but after I correct those spots should I be looking more for a warmer approach or cooler? LOL I hope this doesn't sound confusing :D

  • Does this apply to other make up to?like not just foundations. Like bronzers, tinted moisterizers, blushes ect.? Do u pick a cool bronzer or something if ur cool tone amd a warm one if ur warm toned? And wat about tinted moistureizers? Wat happens if u use cool toned make up if ur a warm?

  • I hear you on the foundations. I used dream matte mousse (which btw isn't very good), ivory but it's still too brown kind of since I'm extreamely white at some points in my face (I have a natural blush and problems with blueness under my eyes, which sadly is genteic).

  • HI :D i love your videos.

Regarding the undertones, when I look at my wrist - it feels like I have purple, blue, and green veins. So I can't tell whether I'm warm or cool. & once I wore a creamy color shirt and my friend said I looked good in it and yellow really matches me. But I'm not exactly sure :) What do you think?

  • thaaaank you!! I think I get it but I'm not sure..

Yesterday I went to the salon to get my hair and makeup done, so.. If the foundation that the guy used on my looked yellow means that I'm a cool undertone??

    hope you can answer :D

  • so helpful! thanks!

  • I use NW35 MINERALIZE SATINFINISH and NC25 STUDIO FIX FLUID , the first one is better when Im tanned in the summer and the second is lighter. The NW is better than the NC and I am refering to the product quality. II can use the mineralize only when I`m tanned and I go to the solarium once in a while. The other one is ok but when I apply it it`s like a mask althoug the colour is the right one. Should I mix them

  • Comment removed

  • lol i always just pick the lightest foundation and it works :p

  • @jillboatright hahaha me too xD

  • Great information!

It used be a nightmare for me to find the right foundation, until I found Motives Custom Blend Foundation. It is designed to match skin tones perfeclty and provides the desired coverage and finish by employing an advanced combination of bases, toners, enhancers, and modifiers.

I don't have that problem anymore!!! Yahooooooo!!!

  • hi im from australia and i never can get a right foundation.. :S it never matches, i have green veins and they show through alot, when i look at my neck its more yellow and my face is generally red/pink :s so am i warm or a cool?

i am from an italian/argentinian decent

  • @sammyviv oh and most colours look good on me or so ive been told, green, dark blues, reds, and oranges :S

  • Mac doesn't have it backwards they just use the color wheel theory. So if you look at a color wheel red is considered warm therefore If you have pinkish undertones you are a 'warm' in Mac and color wheel theory.

  • @MACMAKEUPJUNKEE It was something I learned the first day @ MAC they reverse it! No Doubt! Straight from My MAC Trainers and numerous other Well Respected MAC Employees I wasn't trashing them for it I worked for them for 5yrs its just a Little know Fact! Seriously!

  • @TalkinMakeUp idk i asked the MAC Pro manager too, i was like um where i work yellow is warm he told me about the color wheel theory thing and pixiwoo has it too...it kinda makes sense though if you think about red, being hot like fire therefore warm? ......idk, i think eye shadows are much easier lol

  • @TalkinMakeUp I know. I am warm and I was wondering why they gave me an NC...since I thought that was for cool undertones.

  • @MACMAKEUPJUNKEE I heard that too. So maybe u can help me to understand. Why they consider yellow a cool color if according to the color wheel yellow is a warm color? Besides, the NC foundations r orangey and orange is a warm color too. I don't get it.

  • i got into a minor argument with a MAC artist who insisted i was a warm and i'm sure i'm a cool...this explains it!!

  • im confused :( i think im cool but foundation is so tricky !x

  • Ive had soo many issues with foundation and you deff helped me! Thanks! Great personality!

  • You are sooo funny. [=.

  • okay i can see my veins on my wrist but they greenish not blue

    what does that mean

    please help

  • @LazyDaisyWY I have green veins on my inner wrist too. (I was also told by an Estee Lauder SA that my undertone is completely blue, making it a true cool.) The only reason I can come up with is, because I have a collagen gene mutation that makes my skin 1/3 "normal" thickness, and I guess then there is more color and opacity in "normal thickness" that makes the veins look blue on most pale cool toned folks.

  • @MissJupiterWheels so i guess that would say im a cool and all this time i have been using warm

  • @LazyDaisyWY it means your a warm that what it usually means Do you have an olive/golden complexion?

  • @TalkinMakeUp not really golden but the olive yeah

  • i still dont understand /;

ive been trying to learn skintones

just to further my knowledge about makeup

but not just fer myself fer all skintypes...

    this kinda helped meh understand

    a lil more tho (: ty <3

  • i am physically yellow... you can see the actual yellow tone... i have such a hard time getting foundation because my face is a whole shade darker... i am like a creamy beige, and neck and chest is like a yellow- ivory color... and i cant get ivory for my face because it would look to white, and if i put a creamy beige it will match my face, but not my neck or chest. Like that my face looks pink, with a yellow chest...

    help?

  • hey im happy to know im not the only one who has issues with choosing right colour for myself lol thanks for vid was gr8!

  • Yes indeed , my skintone changes from time to time !

Somethimes a same foundation looks perfect and the day after too grey. It's hormonal I think...or not enough sleep, ha.. Tx, this was really! good information.. Also the white /cream T-shirt is a great tip !

  • I'm going to go to the drugstore soon! :)

  • ok so in mac foundations, if you are a warm tone you have to use cool toned foundation?

  • Youre laugh is so funny =p

  • You're laugh is so funny =p

  • This video is so helpful and I love hearing someone say MAC has got it backwards! I cannot figure out why they do that and then try to convince us of their theory. They have great products, but on this they are just wrong.

  • what if my wrist has green veins?!?!?! i dont see bluee in my wrist.. x(

  • @EdiithhN You're warm. Yellow/golden undertones over your blue veins make them look greenish.

  • I find it funny how MAC does the opposite :P Will using a self-tanner alter someone's undertone?

  • Hi i have the same problem and its hard but i will try to go this weekend and ask for helpQ!

  • very helpful thanks!

  • very interesting..I think I'm a cool..I want to order the graftobian cream makeup, but have no clue what color to order..can you help me..I left a message under the video you posted about it too..thanks rita

  • This video really helped me out thank!!!!!

  • This video really helped me out thank!!!!!

  • You actually happen to be fairly sexy, thanks a ton for your video clip. it's sad im living within Issaquah mainly because i cannot purchase excellent cosmetics, nonetheless i receive no fee samples from "Gratis Makeup Samples". i really like MAC makeup!

  • So NW at MAC is cool? It probably stands for Not Warm then. Ya think?

  • In MAC foundation would i be a NW shade if my undertone is cool? I ahve pink/beige skin

  • OMG!!! you are so interesting to watch!!!I just love you!

  • its VERY frustrating for me to find the right shade. i am VERY very pale. and iv gon to the counter COUNTLESS times. and they COULD not find one light enough. tho i am defanatly a cool undertone. recently iv tried mac's studio fix fluid in nc15 and it is still to dark. do you have any brands? (counter or drugstore) that you know carry an extreamly light shade? please and thank you!

  • OMG I'm soooo glad I watched this!!!!! for years I keep trying to figure out if I;m cool or warm. I've always said I think I'm both and I didn't know that it was possible to be both!!!!!???? LOL I've confused myself for sooo many years!! now I have found the answer!!! Thank you!! also when people tell you to look at your veins to see if they are blue or green mine look like both LOL

  • Finding a foundation that I like seems impossible. I've been matched at counters incorrectly, bought drugstore foundations, bought online blind. The other problem apart from the colour and undertone is the way it feels on my face, I hate to feel like I'm wearing a mask or for the foundation to transfer.

  • I love love ur talks! hehehe

  • thank you for going into great detail about a problem that I and so many people have. I will definitely use these tips!

  • Camille,

Who has the best foundation. which is better liquid/powder?

How do stop eye shadow from creasing?

  • "MACs NW( Neutral Warm) is a Cool Foundation to the rest of the World

MACs NC(Neutral Cool) is a Warm Foundation to the rest of the World"

I LOVE your explanation. It's clear to me, I knew there was something wrong! I mean, I'm a golden undertone, all that suits me the best are warmer clothes and.. my MAC foundation is : NC (neutral-cool). :) thanks, it helped me so much to understand better !!

  • Oh my god this is sooooo helpful....thank you so much! Now i can pick the right shade of foundation so my face wouldn't turn too red anymore!!!!!!!!!

  • you are such an ispiration :) every since i started watching you ive wanted to be a makeup artist and im gonna pursue my dream ! :D

  • Brilliant! Thank you so much :) I'm in love with you and your channel.

  • thanks! :) kinda helped!

  • You are especially pretty, thanks for your movie. it is sad i live within Dewey Beach considering that i aren't able to obtain decent makeup, but i get cost-free trials through "GratisMakeupSamples". i really like Rimmel cosmetics!

  • There is some color theory involved. I have a lot of pink in my skin. Veins show blue. But I get relatively(to the rest of my face) dark olive discoloration. It's the darnedest think but the pink that I avoided like the plague was actually the right tone. It evens out my color. I use less makeup to hide more because it counters the discoloration while toning down any redness. It's weird but true. There's some green to olive, so yeah red being opposite of green's part of color theory.

  • Mac NC15 is way too dark for me. My chest is WHITE, but my face a tad darker, so I'm trying to find a foundation to make my paleness stand out. I look good in colors like petroleum, all greens, light blue, CREAM (not white) but also coppery warm shades that matches my hair: intensely coppery hair. That to me, the cool colors, the redness, blue vains, contradict the warm colors, cream and red hair! I'm so confused ... O_o My natural haircolor is a dark blonde with reddish tones to it. damn :-)

  • Hey im a little confused i did the test with two different ones as you said, one is more whiteyyer and the other is more yellow the whiter one suits me so does that mean im cool ? But its summer so im tanned and confused :s please help !!!

  • Thanks so much xx

  • THANK YOU!! I'm a cool. I actually used this to help me decide what shade of red would fit best because I plan on dying my hair :)

  • Are there company's that have more "warm" and "cool" foundations than others b/c I can't tell! My veins look green but then I see that half seem to turn blue. I've been told they're blue and others green. Looking at my pic (on my channel) people said "definitely warm". but I know that auburn hair looks good on any tone.

I tried Almays foundation stick 100 and it looks so yellow, while Wet n' Wilds 801 was too pink but blended more easily, but still unnatural. Both mixed was still..meh off

  • @femmefatale1990 I mean...at my Sephora the girl isn't helpful at all. I have overtones (red pimples, anyone?) but my face flushes pink when I do my makeup and sometimes I won't wear blush b/c of it. As for the white/beige shirt. I like both...grrr...I'm starting to think I'm neutral....

I'm so confuzzled, lol. btw would you recommend a specific brand and number to swipe with?

  • @femmefatale1990 Lastly (i know I've been commenting a lot), what is the point of knowing? I mean, I've seen "cools" look great in warm colors and vice versa, but no cosmetics say "warm" or "cool" on them. So how would you find another cool or warm foundation from another brand?

  • i always end up with an orange tint to face. ;(

  • great bits of advice thank you!, have anyone sampled MACs newest line of products?? its quite hard to get hold of decent makeup in Dunn but i managed to get some brilliant samples of make-up by going to "GratisMakeupSamples"! there awesome.

  • YES I have been having this problrm lately and it's soooo frustrating. I use CG, but it's not really liquid. It comes in the little compact things. Well I was mixing them but it gets to be a pain because I apply it throughout the day so then I'm mixing it all over again. Would it be good to put primer on first so it stays on throughout the day??? PLEASE PLEASE answer back! Signed, Desperation

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have had a really big problem finding the right foundation, your video has given me so much information! you are really good at what you do, I am so happy you are sharing with the world.

I have been playing with makeup for a while and your video on on how to become a makeup artist has really helped too. I am still getting the guts to post a how to video :) I have recorded a few but i find that I sound so weird lol.

Thank you so much again and I will be looking out for more

  • what if you have the really dark blue veins on olive skin?

  • I don't really get it. how can i distinguish between two foundation which made for warmskin which for coldskin.

and the clothes methode, well, everything looks good in black so~~~

  • what did u mean by "reverse it"?

  • Will the mac girls tell you your undertones when looking for the right color?

  • I am a natural redhead with blue eyes but I still can't tell. Based on your experience what would I be?

  • this video was great, it was very helpful =]

  • this video was informative but im still not sure what to do

next time im at the store i'll try out what you said about comparing the 2 tones on my wrist

but i've been noticing lately that my foundation for cool skin tone looks waay too pink, especially when i blend it down onto my neck it's so obvious (i get drugstore foundation btw)

so if i have a cool skin tone (or at least i think i do :S) then why is the foundation still too pink? am i just wrong about my skin tone? this is confusing lol

  • OMG I KNEW IT! A professional at a mac counter tested me. I picked NW15. It blended flawlessly. But, I had always thought that I was a cool tone, as warm colors seemed to make me ruddy looking. But, when we tested it, and I got a W instead of a C I was baffled! She then told me that the outer portion of my face was more warm toned, and the T zone area was cool. But, it still didn't seem right. Now I know! They reverse it! I'm not imagining things after all! HA! Thank you so much for telling me!

  • I have to say that your videos are wonderfully informative. You are a true pro'. Your passion for Make-up artistry is so contagious. I'm lovin' your vids. Thank you so much.

  • Thank you so much! This was actually VERY helpful! I've been trying to figure out my skin tone and it's been so hard for me since when you look at my wrist you can DEFINETELY see my blue veins but have redness so it's hard for me to figure it out. Thank you so much!

  • This was actually VERY helpful! I've been trying to figure out my skin tone since I'm so pale but have redness, looking at my wrist you can definetely see my veins. Thank you so much!

  • Uh, okay. Well, YOU"RE BRILLIANT! This is how everyone should be, whether they be a doctor, mechanic, stylist, whatever. Great personality, knowledgeable, logical, and realistic. Never have I heard someone be so detailed and coherent, yet simple and straightforward in explaining this subject. If I took everything I've ever read and heard on this and edited out the BS and confusing bits, this video is what one would be left with. I know this sounds dramatic, but I'm completely serious!

  • wait, so if you have cool undertones what type of foundation do you use?

  • is it okay to mix two different foundation brands?

  • Thanks for the advice :) you are too sweet!

  • this is good information. i used to buy foundation with the yellowish undertone, but now i see i'm a cool. no wonder i never found the perfect color... thank you...

  • I love your vids, Camille - you are so knowledgeable and lovely :)

Still don't know what my undertones are, but that's cos I think I have yellow in my skin, rather than pink, my veins look green but I think I suit silver jewellery and look good in white, not cream! I don't use Mac foundation but I use the NC35 concealer...

To a make up counter I go, methinks!

  • i am a cool.i was reading your profile and you like the movie starstruck! I love it too!

  • I know a lot about seasonal analysis (12 season Color Me Beautiful type stuff) and I think this was really helpful to people who don't know. One thing you didn't mention is the gold/silver test which I think is one of the defining thing. If I'm helping my friend find there colors usually I first ask if they look better in silver or gold, and they usually know they just don't know what that means.

  • V E R Y helpful! My question is you say red and blue is cool but my foundation (NC45) seems yellow. It matches, but I don't understand how yellow is for warm tones...

  • Thanks this video is the MOST imformative that I have seen yet on finding out your what tone your skin is! All it took was one video to see that you really know what you're talking about with makeup ;)

  • Wow, amazing advices, thank you!

  • i think i am a neutral. my besty once said that every color suites me and i see pinks and yellows in my skin...

  • hey how r u ? i just both a mac foundation and they gave me nw 20 and it looks really light but they tried nw25 and it looked orange .. i told them that i was using nc 30 and it looked orange im just really discouraged i always have had a hard time. Should i take it back or just try working with it.

  • Very informative, indeed. Thanks so much, Camille.

  • i have been buying mac for a while now..and i could never figure out what NC(#) and NW(#) ment? Is that just netrual with cool undertones or netural with warm undertones then the color of the foundation?

  • thank you so much! ive never really worn foundation or face makeup only eyes and lips partly because my skin wasn't that discolored but mostly because i have no idea how to find my skin tone! ive tried testing on my wrists but they dont match! you helped so much thanks!

  • You do such a good job. I cannot tell what my undertones are. I know that I am warm because I look good in earthtones but I think I could be neutral, I was told I was NW47. I'm a dark skinned black girl w true brown eyes. A ?: how do you see undertones? People talk about blue undertones or a person being olive. What exactly is olive? And I can never see blue undertones on blacks and I know they have them but I am blind to it. I have even been told I have blue. I have worn nw47. Thanks!

  • You are Amazing!!! Thank you!

  • My veins look green, so m cool. Now my mac said I am NW. Also NW suits me. Is that perfect?

I have read from somewhere that MAC foundation colors are actually to counter what you have as undertone. If you are warm, you should get an NC to counter or bring out the beauty in your warm tone. And vice versa. Camille, is this true?

  • also the color jewelry can detetermine.gold=warm tone, silver=cool tone....this is a great video, how can i tell what foundation tone i have at home?i have 3 diff foundations and i cant determine weather they are cool or warm...i am a warm skin tone, and i feel that i have yet to find the right foundation...thanx soooo much for this awsome video

  • That is correct jewelery can also help determine your skin tone! I wish you luck cause I am a mixer of foundations Because I can never settle with one color! xoxoxo

  • Hi Camille this make so much sense I been trying to buy foundation from Mac is always mess I am a Latina I am C4 in the powder but in liquid they always I am NC30 It looks like I have a yellow mask on hate it I m going to try NW30 thxs

  • C4 warms up on the skin for some reason and it becomes brighter as you wear it! I had C3 and C4 both made me look like I had a Liver Condition, go for one of the N shades like 5 or up they really level you out Good Luck! xoxoxo

  • If I use a liquid concealer can I use a powder foundation to set it?
