This kid probably started to play the guitar at age 4 and did only classical on an accoustic guitar. Hard work. It must be pretty easy for him to run a fast neck of a heavy metal guitar, no wonder he can play so fast on it. Very impressive.

I don't think there were any videos of Shawn Lane playing guitar at a very early age. I know there's clips of him with BOA playing when he was 16, but I'm curious to hear how good he was at age 13 or so, when he wasn't playing for a long time. Either way, Anton is a great player and I have high hopes for him!

He can play paganini at age of 11 what Jason Becker done at 18, he got the perfect Paul Gilbert's picking, That guy piss off over winner and all finalists from guitar idol, mattrach , and similars.

If he continues such a progress he will by a guitar god, that's for sure.

Anyway Gilbert does play like you say on his recordings yet he is not "tricking your ear into thinking it's being picked" he can and does pick every note on his instructional videos and sometimes in solo's on record.

Besides all of that... I would have loved to have heard this played with a clean tone (as in: not distorted) I think it would have come across sounding better.

Played pretty much technically perfect. The kid's a giant!

There are tons of clips that haven't been seen or heard by the general public. One of my father's friends was Shawn's best friend. He went with him to see UK with Holdsworth, the night Shawn started wanting to play that style. He also has tons of early recordings of Shawn, far more than have ever been posted. A lot of it is stuff when Shawn was really young.

Come on...he doesn't have the sophistication of Govan. That's not to say that in a couple years he won't.

I seriously doubt Oparin would be able to hold his own in a jazz improv session like Govan can. This kid is incredible and it would be absurd to expect him to be as creative as a musician as experienced as Govan.

There's technical proficiency (which Oparin is overflowing with) and there's musicianship. I have no doubt that one day this kid will have plenty of both.
