  • I think that those of us who have a natural vibrato as you do, Bill, (and I) find it just comes out more as we put more emotion into the music. :)

  • my bad... just saw "from the Album Nature Boy." Sorry.

  • Great tune wonderfully played. This isn't Nature Boy.... Poinciana? Canadian Sunset?

  • Very smooth flute work...nice soloing and phrasing over the changes. Your tone is mellow yet fiery, especially during the more "forte" sections of the first solo. Overall, great work!

  • What a lovely piece Bill.

  • Great improvisation ! It seems to me that in the theme section, you use the vibrato as some form of adding more grove to the rythm. Correct me if I'm wrong. Good thing to know that I don't have to move to Canada to have you as my jazz teacher, thank you Bill McBirnie.

  • I'm always concentrating on the groove (...with or without vibrato!... :-) I have been classically trained (...once upon a time...) So, sometimes, I think that I use too much vibrato! :-) Ultimately, I rely on the groove and my own intuition to guide me. In this case, there are a lot of exposed tones in the head - so I instinctively used more vibrato at those points in the tune. Finally, "compresses" and "swells" are also very important and usually a better alternative than vibrato!

  • very nice.........peace !!

  • Great!! Felicitaciones!!
