i wish to have a brain scan but i have teeth fillings though. would that be dangerous?

Good question, longtalker.
What you're looking at is an MRI scan.
The MRI scan creates a 3D image of the brain (or whatever it's targetting) at a fixed point in time.
A functional scan is different because it follows changes in blood flow (increased flow being indicative of increased activity) over time.
So, for example, a scientist can see - in real time - which regions of the brain demand more oxygen when a volunteer does mental addition.
