You HAVE to read the sequel called "Scarlett" by Alexandra Rippley... It's amazing ! Really ! We gradually see Scarlett, this stupid and selfish girl, changing in a good woman. Moreover, that book makes us travel a lot ! It's wonderful, try it ! And you'll see if Scarlett eventually make it up with Rhett ;-)
@23marygirl Frankly... Book "Scarlett" by Alexandra Ripley it's not amazing, but terrible! Scarlett is not "that Scarlett" which we loved and Rhett also - both are artificial. Alexandra wrote this book, because people want love story with happy end, but life Scarlett and Rhett is drama. And we have accept this situation.
@ermengerda01 No sorry, I have not read any story about them =) I would I've been glag if it has been the case =) I'll come back soon to tell you what I've thought about Rhett Buttler's people...
Excellent movie??? Did you miss all of the racial stereotypes or the fact that this movie tried to make the viewer show sympathy for the south and made the north look like the monsters??? This movie while pretending to be against slavery is for it in every way and doesn't really hide it. Open your eyes! It's no wonder racism is still so prevalent to this day.
@jenna32089 It isn't prevalent you moron. Some places yes but it's thanks to liberals like you that we cant move forward because you're so hell bent on bringing up the past.
I got so mad at Maureen O'Hara while watching this movie. She doesn't know what she wants, she's almost never sincere, and treats Rhett Butler like crap
Excellent movie I had to watch this in my film class. I learned no matter what time it is women will always be women. No matter how kind you are or try to win them over they always go for wrong guy. Then when you finally come to your senses and say enough is enough and leave they chase after you. I'm not saying every girl is this way i'm just speaking from experience and judging from this movie that is over 70 years nothing has changed.
I loved Rhett. So much. The ending of the book broke me heart so bad. Not for Scarlett--she had what was coming to her. But for Rhett. He was such a sweet man to be broken down so badly. My heart still aches whenever I think of that book. One of the few novels to ever move me.
I would love to see a remake of this. I read the book, and its a fascinating story. Of course this is one of the great films in history, but a remake doesn't mean the old one needs replacing, or needs improving. I don't think its easy for a person living now to relate to the characters, and a modern film could help bridge that gap and keep this great story from being totally forgotten. Ill bet fewer people today have seen "Gone With the Wind" then "Ninja Assasin".
This movie is amazing!... I mean, that quote when Rhett character says "Frankly my dear, I dont give a damn" is the most known line in movies history. And I would also add the final quote from Scarlett character as one of the best quotes: "After all, tomorrow is another day"... I ocasionally use this line in my real life and so others.
A hilarious rewrite of GWTW: Rhett Buttler and the musical fruit on the ledpenny channel. Not for the prudish. Rhett is the heartbroken rejected mate in this version...

When he says "Frankly My Dear, I Don't Give a Damn." I said to myself, it's about time.
How he put up with her nonsense throught out this whole movie baffeles me. Rett was a Rogue and in reality he would have left her long before this.

@ermengerda01 I agree, they both are different. Yet, I'm happy to see a happy ending like this one, even if it's a little bit cliché. =)

@23marygirl By the way: Are there any stories you read on the internet about Rhett & Scarllet?
I looking for stories about this couple, to the extent consistent with the canon:)
