Except that Obama isn't fixing things or even helping to fix things. He's making things worse. Unemployment is rising still and no jobs are being created. Obama's floating nonsense about how he's saving jobs. That's total bullshit and you know it. That's like saying Muslim terrorist Nidal Hassan wasn't a bad guy because he didn't kill the other 300 million Americans, only the dozen or so he actually did kill in Texas. Obama either gets the jobs creation up and running or he's toast.
I can't think of any deep recession that has been solved in less than one year of any administration. In fact, job recovery is the LAST step to any economic growth, trailing the other indicators by 6-9 months. The cut tax/regulations but raising spending policies that we had under the last president did not help the debt situation either, hence the recession starting at the end of his term.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Obama promised that if his stimulus package was approved, the jobless rate would top out at 8%. Well, now under Obama, the jobless rate is moving steadily upward and it's above 10%. There are no jobs being created either. Some estimates say there will be no jobs created until 2011. Obama needed to put jobs first and foremost on his agenda (as Bill Clinton did) and Obama failed to understand this. Now America is paying the price for his negligence. And next year Obama will pay.
Electango: To be honest with you presidents promise things all the time and honestly they should learn not to do that. Remember 'Mission Accomplished' or 'We'll be welcomed as liberators'? I also wished that Obama tackled jobs before health care BUT I will say that no matter what he did jobs would not have come back this year at the rate of losing 700,000 jobs a month in Bush's last months in office.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Obama has totally dropped the ball on jobs creation. Now he's talking about all the jobs he's saved. So anyone who still has a job, in Obama's view should be grateful to Obama because they haven't been laid off (yet)! His cluelessness is astounding. He's gonna be dealing with a Republican Congress in 2010 as a result of his ineptitude. And this is a guy who entered office with an incredible amount of goodwill. It's too late for this guy.
Elect: Not even one year in is not too late for anything. Reagan had a terrible first two and a half to three years and ended up being a two term president. Republicans claim he is one of the greatest presidents, who like Obama, was a polarizing figure. I am not comparing their resumes at all, but I am saying that saying someone is done before his first year is up is a bit premature.
@JamaicanJasta Thats a good point. Unemployment was 10% in 1983, three years into Reagan's presidency but things turned around and he got re-elected in 1984. Obama inherited a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit and it is going to take time to fix. Saying he is done is premature. If things turn around like it did for Reagan, he will win a second term and all the nay-sawyers are going to heave their heads up their butts.
But he still doesn't have to talk about the jobs he's saved! He's gloating about doing nothing. Now i'll admit, Bush wasn't very good, but that's because he was an almost rino(republican in name only)
JamacanJasta is spot on with her comment. Look how much time they spent getting us in the shape we are in.. To expect an instant change is childish. The fact is things as getting better and we are much better off than we would have been had nothing been done. This is according to some of the best economists in the world. I think they are a little more qualified than you or I.

The fix this nation is in is due to years and years of economic and military mismanagement going back at least to the 1950's. Obama is doing absolutely nothing to ease America's crippling dependence on foreign oil and that dependence has been evident since at least 1973. He is continuing the Bush endless wars policies which proves that neither Obama nor Bush learned the lessons of Vietnam. His economic policies are identical to Bush's. The corruption continues unabated under Obama.
Do you even bother to get informed at all because it doesn't seem like it based on your comment. Do you realize that the reason why Obama is taking time to come up with a stratogy when it comes to Afghanistan is because he wants an exit stratogy? I bet you are against that too. Obama is nothing like Bush. If Bush were in office still we would be in a world of hurt and probably 3 wars.
An exit strategy? Hello!?!? Obama is going to add 40,000 troops. That's escalating a war in a black hole where both Russia and Britain received humiliating beat downs. Here's my exit strategy...tell your top generals you want all US troops out of Afghanistan in 3 months. Trust me, they will get it done. If you think Obama is after an exit strategy, you're more poorly informed than I thought.
Suppose I couldn't do a better job as President. That's your reason for supporting the clueless incompetent Obama? Never forget....the same people who run the DMV and the Post Office are gonna be handling your open heart surgery if the thieves in Washington get a hold of health care. They will completely politicize and destroy our health care system. We need less government in America, not more.
Hmmm...my DMV has wonderful service. I don't even have to go to the office to renew my tags. I don't think my Postal Delivery guy is going to do any surgeries, but he sure gets me my mail pretty well.
I agree. In fact I would say I have an outstanding mailman. Although I can not get tags through the mail where I live it's really not a big deal at the DMV.
It seems perfectly fine to spend 6 trillion on endless wars over the next 10 years, However spending 1 trillion over the next 10 years for Health Care is just a big bad no no to them.. and sadly Many of the ones against this are Pro-Lifers... makes you go WTF!
And of course the Bush endless wars continue under Obama only now they are good wars! Neither Bush nor Obama learned the lessons of Vietnam. If you don't know what victory looks like, don't fight the war. The black hole known as Afghanistan is now no longer a black hole and Obama wants to escalate this losing war. The only reason Bush and Obama have American troops fighting and dying in these two hell holes are to make money for Bush Obama friends in Halliburton and Blackwater.
I don't agree with either of the wars we are currently in since its based upon Nation Building which yes Bush started and yes Obama is holding onto to try and keep some Independents happy which have support in the war and favor his re-election bid in 2012.
I have a easy fix
Withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan, Let them fight the wars which they have been fighting for thousands of years over religious views. Legalize Marijuana to help support Health care reform, and if needed Tax The Churches.
Yes, to most of that. Legalize marijuana, regulate it and tax it, like cigarettes. That way instead of killing some 5,000 and spending some odd billions of dollars on a drug "war," we're actually profiting from one of the largest cash crops in the world.
Also, stop spending money on subsidies on corn. It's fueling our fatness and contributes to why we have so many health care problems.
Do not forget what our founding fathers even said regarding Marijuana. I always like to put that forth towards those whom seem to like to invoke those old powers and slap them in the face with it..
This is why two Ohio tv stations,in Cincinnati and in Cleveland, fired her dumb ass because she is a news diva, not a talented or smart one. I am wondering how in the hell she graduated from Stanford University? I guess it was supposedly good looks and talent in the bedroom.
Is it me or the main women(not Jane Skinner, who is married to Roger Goddell,NFL commisoner) who work at Fox News, have to sleep with Rupert to keep their job?
I heard a rumor going around from five interns at Fox News that Jane Skinner was sleeping with Murdoch, but only after she cleans his spectacles. It may just be a unbiased rumor.
As much as I support Universal Health Care, I know any sort of of public health care will add to public expenses. In America's case, it will add to the national debt.
That's why the news are reporting that China is *demanding* the US government to report every details of the Health Care Reform to them, because Chinese know ultimately they are the one who will be actually paying for America's health care. (Just google the news.)
and as a Chinese, I am absolutely pissed that my people will be paying for Americans' excess and health care -- given that Chinese government doesn't even finance health care for their own people, and now they'll have to pay for Americans'.
Here's something I don't understand about FOX "news," why are they only concerned about linking health care reform with new debt? Why do they make no mention of the trillions we've spent in undeclared, unjustified, endless wars?
Am seeing this in allegedly non-partisan, hard news outlets, "stacking" talking points into the identification of what's being referred to... as in: costly healthcare reform, or socialized medicine proposals, or government-run healthcare. Polls based on questions weasel-worded this way, are at least suspect... and there's no way someone merely hearing the results can know how the questions were worded. News presented this way isn't news... it's propaganda. Welcome to Propaganda America.

Fox News... *shudder!*

Here's something I don't understand about FOX "news," why are they only concerned about linking health care reform with new debt? Why do they make no mention of the trillions we've spent in undeclared, unjustified, endless wars?
Just something to think about.

Republicans are not known for the accuracy of their "facts".

@nidodson 109$ billion cannot be accounted to a liberal bias.
