I try to avoid political discussions in pub type/ family environments. But occasionally I like to invoke my.." Right of Godwin" by saying the word Hitler or Nazi or Mengele (usually prefaced by the Godwin bonus word "evil") immediately. That tends to invoke a jocular tone to the conversation. Having subtly pacified the eager listeners I then proceed to inform them of the fact that jews have been thrown out of every country in Europe at least 50 times..109 in total (once bitten thrice shy)..
