Christ, this flick was bad. Crummy pacing, bad storytelling, phoned-in "clever" dialog.

I'm a Burton fan but I wasn't impressed. The characters felt one-dimensional and the story just felt like it was going from point A to point B to point C, etc. without any character development going on. Another problem I had (and my main disappointment) was that the movie really *wasn't* very creepy at all. I dunno what it is about that original cartoon, but it still gives me the creeps. I wish I could have felt that with this movie.

The visuals were wonderful, though.

I loathed this movie, I thought it took visuals over story and left me with nothing. I am starting to realize you are the two who liked Avatar and I'm not sure I should trust we will like the same movies.

@aragon131 I , on the other hand, can't recall a film where I totally disagreed with the Schmoes all that much. There were a couple of movies they split on, but for the most part they have been spot on. Check out Fury of the Film Fan, see if he's closer in taste to you.

yeah i enjoyed it. it did have some flaws though. mainly the dragon at the end not being threatening at all.

i base my movie going choices on your guys's reviews. thanks for doing such a great job! its nice to have a critic for my generation, someone who we can connect with and understand. Every critic over the age of 40 who uses big words to sound important really confuses me when i am deciding to watch a film.

what im basically saying is, thanks for using small words so i can understand your reviews!
