  • deep,dark,distant,devious,deranged,delight...... Maynard is God....

  • dont mislead other youtubers with high quality labels when the quality is the lowest possible

  • I KNOW THE PIECES FIT COS I WASHED AND TUMBLED DRIED IT =]

  • i know my penis fits?

  • im scared:(

  • I want to fight when i hear this song

  • I have yet to meet a Tool fan who knows what this song is about. Shame. Have a bunch of idiots follow you out of a trend instead of for what you say. None of them know anything about you. What a legacy, huh? It's about speaking up about things. CHALLENGING. Arguing. Finding beauty in the dissonance, lack of agreement. If I get insulted, it'll be because most Tool fans don't know what this song is about, Maynard would encourage outside viewpoints. He's a Leary fan. Third Eye live Salival.

  • i wish my ear came out like that :p

  • IM GOING TO THEIR CONCERT ON 1/28/12!!!

  • @MrPearlDrumz where at?

  • @jizzleman1101 TD Garden in Boston Mass

  • 4 people couldn't make the pieces fit

  • if you wanna understand the music dont look at the video plain and simple

  • subwoofers are great with this song

  • imagine if life was a tool music video...

  • This song changes meter 47 times.

  • @iamjamielincoln thats why i searched it

  • @iamjamielincoln REDDIT

  • i'm obviously not stoned enough to interpret this video.

    anyone mind explaining?

  • @Aveation well clearly the pieces fit

  • @Aveation My interpretation is don't do drugs or you'll end up like this video.

  • @JFAcoustic Use your imagination.......

  • @JFAcoustic You obviously have no clue what this song is about. The lyrics. It's about thinking for yourself. Even when you know the pieces fit, stir shit up. Get people thinking. Challenge things. Argue about things. Finding beauty in the dissonance, lack of agreement. Go against the popular vote. Go against yourself and your own beliefs. Self-actualize. Most Tool fans have no idea what Maynard is talking about, they follow out of trend instead of what he stands for it. It's a shame.

  • @xTheWorldNeedsAHerox Yeah, I listened to the lyrics. I was simply pointing out how the video doesn't really match up with the song. I read the lyrics as well. I think that this song points out a lot of cool things, but the video is kind of freaky.

  • @JFAcoustic Yeah...its really only freaky for the sake of being freaky, but that won't stop fans from trying in vain to search for a "meaning"

  • @xTheWorldNeedsAHerox

All you did was contradict yourself. The music is for you to interpret, so why are you telling everyone what its about and how to view it? You're just as bad as the people that just listen to it because its cool, which has been over for a long time, kids have moved on. Just listen to the damn music, and if you are on your own path away from popular trendiness, why fuck do you care about the people that aren't? They aren't ever going to be on your path, just leave them be.

  • @MrMitch135 Not even close. Nice try. Though.

  • @xTheWorldNeedsAHerox What do you mean nice try, everything i said was true. Leave people alone, they aren't changing any time soon. And if you are going to just slam on people who like like things for different reasons then you, stop. That's not how you should share what you think. You're just as much of a problem as the people you like to put down.

  • John F. Kennedy once said "We intend to accept full responsibility for our errors, and we expect you to point them out." That's the point I made with Maynard and Timothy Leary. You still don't get it. I'm the solution.

  • @xTheWorldNeedsAHerox A solution to what exactly? Nothing is as cut and dry as you think. So your "solution" has no ground to even begin to come to fruition. What is it you think you are solving by telling everyone how to listen to music? You know, if everyone believes the same, acts the same, thinks the same, we stop being what we are, human. So, are you a free-thinking individual, or a, as Maynard likes to put it, sheep? Music doesn't come with instructions, why are you making some?

  • @Aveation smoke another bud, you'll get it

  • cat

  • i like the headbobbing part where its waking on all fours. :)

  • i would really like to meet the 4 assmaggots the disliked this work of art.

  • @prodigy1995mint let me introduce you to 4 people who obviously missed the like button.

  • u got the lyrics wrong near the end, its "between supposed lovers, between supposed brothers" jus sayin

n the last flame like shit blew up my high

    haha awesome >:D

  • @ThisTubeIsFuckedUp nope, it's between supposed lovers, between supposed lovers.

  • well 240p we meet again

  • i wish the wrif and 89X would play this music more often

  • there doing some crazy ass shit xD but i love this song c:

  • This music video is fucking amazing

  • This music video makes no fricking sense

  • @caspercaspian its not supposed to.. id love to know of a time when half of maynards songs legitly made sense.. yes, they have meaning, and a fundamental understanding.. but ive always had to listen to them about 5,000 times to understand it lol. but hey, his music is so amazing, doesn't bother me any :)

  • i wish the pieces would fit

  • you have to take time to figure out the creepy vidios, it all makes scence though.

  • Comment removed

  • this song is entirely about the band!! - "point the finger, blame the other to bring the pieces back together, to rediscover communication!!" and "Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication!!!!!"

  • @davidlilly1000

Id doubt it. if the word "lovers" comes up that many times in a song chances are maynard wrote it about a woman he was involved with, not the band, since he word "lovers" means sex.

  • @SummernlightningUSA nope it does

  • @SummernlightningUSA the lyrics "Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion" Kind of leads you to assume it's about a woman.

  • Pure Fucking Metal

  • best bridge ever!!

  • when you dont listen to this song for a year or two and them come back...awesomee

  • the message of tool saying that everything in the universe used to fit together but now it has fallen apart because of our society.....beautiful message that not alot of people can understand yet still a awesome song

  • @ROKMIST exactly. i'am 16 years old, had a lot of experiences and the message behind is so far-minded-intellectual. it's opens a door thats for sure.

  • @mitxke yes exactly and if people would actually keep that message theyre trying to make in mind while watching the video it would make alot more sense to them

  • @ROKMIST Only a human being would be so arrogant as to believe that human society could disrupt the harmony of the universe.

  • @AnimusArgentis it's true though because there are people out there that think smoking driving cars and making noise is fun equaling up to disrupting the natural things in life

  • 5:47 nom nom!

  • this gave me boner

  • Why don't Tool music videos make any sense? The songs do, but the music videos are so random :/

  • @WolfGameWalkthroughs

They make plenty of sense if you detach yourself from your senses.

  • @Triangulove Aka. blaze up a joint

  • between forbidden lovers

  • wtf how can i see my eyes idk wtf!

  • If Pink Floyd was a 21st century metak band, they would be Tool

  • way to put mantra at the beginning

  • One hella jigsaw they were building! lol ^_^

  • What the hell. . .

  • when i first heard, i didnt know what the hell it meant, i just loved it for the video. now that im a bit older, it has a lot of meaning to it. great music

  • me and tool are on the same wavelength, i told them where the pieces fit...

  • The weird people sort of remind me of the Cenobites on Hellraiser

  • Gotta love the sound of that bass.

  • I bump this song in my DRE BEATS

+1 FOR ROCK N ROLL BC of Schism

  • My mind is thoroughly disturbed. I love this song, and this video fits perfectly.

  • Lol 240p is high definition?

  • @MrMickel11 Lol I uploadet it on 2008, there was no real HQ on these days; or at least I didn't know how to upload it with better quality.

  • @andresmoratoledo

    Atleast it sounds good :)

  • @MrMickel11 Well i believe that "high quality" refers to audio. "High Definition" refers to picture quality. These phrases measure two completely different characteristics.

  • I loved this song when I was 8. Still do.

  • @BeLLaFeMMe1984 I think it's about all forms of communication, and our serious lack of it. Marriages included.

  • I love this song. It's gotta be about marriage. does anyone else think so?

  • @BeLLaFeMMe1984 This song talks about the Great Schism of the Church. This refers to the divide between the Catholic and Protestant denominations in the UK/Ireland. The violence that came out of a lack of communication and the differences in the fundamentals that each denomination preaches. It's so sad about the violence that took place tore a country apart!

  • Its Weird When There Like Crawling. :O

  • art music...music art...every artist dream....

  • 4 People have their computers upside down

  • Schism- To divide, split, or separte.

  • What.... The.... Fuck....

  • existencial question with a human nature, the estetic have no sense to me, so utopic and would be stupid at the same time so real, when the fuckig pieces fit? centurys of years ago this talks about our kind as race, with the mith, a romantic vision of a world that works once in the time line

  • This song seems to be about the relationship between two people. Whenever he says "lovers" I feel that it gives it away. The two beings in the video should also clarify this. The flame in the end coincides with a merging of both beings. This can symbolize the passion of the merging of souls that creates a couple.

After reading the lyrics and watching the video, this makes most sense to me.

  • @password90

its not the passion of merging. They...the man and woman...sin so much that they ultimately lose form..you cannot recognize them from one another...they end up being a mutated being...a sub human.

  • awesome!!!

  • This song applies to an unfortunate ending of my relationship. Like... quite well.

  • @dietzness i feel you man. kinda same situation here. interesting that the begginig of that relationship also relates to this song. I show the girl this song when she asked me about what kind of music im into. she liked it. or maybe she just said that because she liked me. now, i dont relly belive she get this profoundly... but maybe i say this cuz im angry at her...i cant really tell the truth... we really should rediscover communication..

  • @unbornanddeathless This sounds like deep stuff, but communication is the basis of everything. Literally. Lack of it will result in malfunction.

  • is this what life would be like without communication. I think thats what they intended for this to show.

  • what the fuck

  • cosmic

  • Maynard is a smart man, he somehow is able to put into words what you're thinking or feeling. He gives a reason behind what it is you're thinking or feeling. I wish more of the world were as open to the meaning behind our actions as he is.

  • @Sephrin82

I think the bodies with mouths also might represent talking but with no way to receive a response because they do not have ears.

  • @Milkman23 3:39

that looks like an ear to me

  • @Arthor32

Yeah, but it leads to nothing.

  • what an important piece of music...strength of lyrics, its a lesson in the form of art

  • maynard used to do drugs but not anymore.

  • maynard used to do drugs but not anymore.

  • i like the song but not the video

  • i like the song but not the video

  • Were they doing it at one point....Jeez Tool has a great sound but wth this is some scary trippy ass shyt. Dayum...

  • uhg,Another night without sleep.-.-

  • tell me about it lol wierd................

  • its a good song, but i just think tool is really really out there with videos. and lyrics. holy shit

  • all there is to be said tool is the fuckin best band ever

  • Are you kidding maynord has droped sooo much acid. Its a phycedelic band dude... I trip on this shit all the time, lol

  • @TurkeySub8 haha diddo dude

  • wat is da reason 4 dis song?

  • I dont really think They have a meaning to any song, Its what you make out of the song. Lsd is one hell of a drug. LOL

  • It helps people who really likes kareoke :)

  • why explain the song? just listen it its a good one......

  • @danieliztheking

its a line in the song friken tard sack

  • I have yet to find a band that is better at transitioning sounds in their songs. The bridges and transitions in Tools songs are just freaking incredible. The dynamic they can build into an arrangement is masterful.

  • idk i just like da song

  • sephrin ur a goth?

  • @Sephrin82 i was only commenting about the video tho & i thought the song had to do w/ religion as well

  • weird..

  • I don'y get what the hell the video or song is trying to say. I also their music videos are so f***ed up and creepy.

  • the people who are creeped out and think the videos are wierd , YOUR SO CUTE

  • @dust4333 that last part was random. oh well...how can the video NOT seem weird

  • 2nd half is epic

  • IVE ALWAYS loved this song. i used to sing it in the car everytime it came on

  • @XxTheEmoAngelxX but your emo.. did you cut your wrists while listening too?

  • @fireboltaz uh no, my friend made this account.

  • @XxTheEmoAngelxX lol. I sang it to, but only the part that said "I know the pieces fit." After that, I didn't know what the lyrics were. He could have been reading an encyclopedia for all I know, but he made it sound awesome as hell.

  • @XxTheEmoAngelxX lol. I sang it too, but only the part that said "I know the pieces fit." After that, I didn't know what the lyrics were. He could have been reading an encyclopedia for all I know, but he made it sound awesome as hell.

  • Uhh... his ear came out... is it supposed to do that?!

I love the band but some of their stuff is really creepy... I LOVES IT!!!!

  • i f***ing love the guitair solo!!!!!

  • hate to piss on your fireworks but that's the bass playing that

  • @fallenlight009 Wait, what?

  • Based on what I've read their was a great deal of tension in the band when Maynard returned from touring with a perfect circle and that was sort of the inspiration for the themes of the song. Then I believe Maynard expanded upon that theme and related it to things he was noting in the world and as jameskirkjfa mentioned our failure to recognize our past mistakes and do better.

  • tool is not weird they speak truth in their songs

  • i mean their music videos and album art are weird...and their music is phychadelic but ur right they have some pretty damn true lyrics

  • ((Masurbation))

It's about the understanding of our world and communication.

    Self- perception

    and others.

  • well i think its bout to lovers who have fallen apart..and they need to become one again...hope that helps...

  • if humankind payed more attention to past mistakes they'll know what to do right next time

thats why the important would be to rediscover the communication

  • Yeah i wasnt too big on Tool but i heard the opening riff of this song on the radio and i was like damn thats amazing and now i fucking love Tool!

  • k.. everyone this is just my opionion so dont get mad.............. i think when he says i know the pieces fit i think hes talking about the world and how we need to rediscover the right comunnication to make the pieces go back together.. like the world is in different pieces but in reality its not so ye[ thats itttttttttttttt

  • these guys kick korns ass

  • this video with the lyrics is much better than the other regular one 9without lyrics) and yet this gets less ratings and view, go figure.

  • i cried on this song it's FUCKIN BEAUTYFOUL AWSOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Alright. It would take a lyrical genius to compose art like this. reps for tool. But does anyone know the true meaning behind the lyrics of this song? Like the actual true things? if your just taking a flat out guess don't reply to this cause i've heard enough opinions lol..but just trying to actually find out what it meens.

  • "ditto"... cool.

  • all the meanings to one song wow. i think its how we were a ll one world but how we grew apart in war

  • In some cases we've not been together at all, because the population has increased tremendously, making most people foreign to most other people, but that is changing. Just lovin each other as well is teh useless, making cooperation more importnant than mere tolerance of imperfections.

  • But my agreeance to this music video remains 100%. Communication is a most important tool and ability.

  • sir, i think you are right :)

tool has awesome songs / lyrics

been a 'fan' for a long time but i only realised how hard it was to sing untill i played gitar hero, pff i failed horribly ;p

  • I fail more horribly at anything related ot music than you do, most likely. But I have perfect hearing and I can remember melodies and complicated musical patterns because I remember whole patterns well.

  • i always thought it was about religion screwing up humanity, or at least complicating things

  • its whatever u think it is

  • although having read the lyrics fully i'm pretty definete its about a relationship

  • kind of looks like the Borg Queen from Star Trek First Contact and from Star Trek Voyager.

  • 0.0 who came up with the video for this song? who ever it is has a very out there mind. still an amazing song though

  • in my opinion this song is about figuring out whether the relation ship with the one you "love" is love in fact or is it lust or maybe its about how us ash umans are going about life in the wrong manor

  • i think it's about whole humanity, the way we conduct our lives - its all wrong, once the pieces fit, but now its chaos... but for sure there can be the state of harmony in ourselves..but we have to change our global thinking...

  • oops sry musicalprophecy i meant to give you a thumbs up :( accidently thumbs downed you

  • This video is actually a combination of Mantra and Schism. When the guitar starts its Schism.

  • Music video is bad? I don't think so...
