  • I LOVE IT. I'm the pianist in this duet .. it's amazinnng

  • @GrubbyTubby Really , well that's amazing !!!

  • I love this song.

It makes me sad, though. I have it as a duet. I'm the pianist.

  • Celestial. Five stars.

  • Elgar's okay, but he's no Justin Bieber.

  • i felt something about this song. i really want to cry when i hear this.

  • I am so wierd! Elgar and Tchaikovski are my favourite composers - imagine that! an Englishman and a Russian! Elgar managed to take his love for Caroline and put that feeling in its purest essence on paper - brilliant!

  • I enjoy listening to this piece of Elgar's delightful music while looking at a video of the gloriously beautiful countryside of England - what a truly wonderful combination - so soothing, especially as it makes me so glad to be living in that lovely countryside in the part of England where Sir Edward Elgar lived - close to the marvellous Malvern Hills.

  • Anyone else think this is being played too fast?

  • Seven dislike is to complement this heaven-ly song huh? Ah that's thoughtful of those who disliked.

  • Ooh so beautiful// this sends wonderful emotions coursing though me... I am almost crying ow... Absolutely wonderful... What a maestro and musician Elgar was at his craft... AND of course his 'Enigma Variations' too... AMAZING... STUNNING... Awe-inspiring and many other words that this music has pushed to the back of my mind.. *sighs and listens again*

  • So beautiful !

    Tant de souvenirs...

  • i love music like this it's so soothing

  • 7 people accidentally disliked this... it's okay with a song so pure, I can't help but forgive you all. :-)

  • just by listening to this music, you can feel the passion and love from the composer. Elgar is one of the best.

  • I REALLY LOVE THIS MUSIC .. you can feel so much love ..

  • this song is in the game Victorian BMX on Adult Swim! So Awesome, great song btw too :)

  • Even for someone who do not trully understand the meaning of music will understand how much Elgar's love has magically powered this piece.

  • thats perfect...he put all his love in just some notes and strings, it should be umbelivable the feeling between elgar and his wife, an explosion of pure love that even Edith Piaf wouldnt reach

  • I have no words to express how it's touching my soul

  • Rick James!

  • Esta hermosísima obra de Elgar tiene una versión para canto. Su título es "Pansies". Si alguno tuviera una grabación de dicha canción le estaría infinitamente agradecido si la pudiera subir o si me lo hiciera conocer.

  • FUCK YEAH Elgar ran shit.

  • Amazing

  • Beautiful.

  • is the cloud moving?

  • It might be a musical "trifle" to some, but it lingers in the memory long after longer, more "approved of" pieces are long forgotten (or willingly forgotten).

  • Soul meets soul on lovers' lips ...

  • very sweet and heartwarming, essence of true love

  • I must work on my French because I beleive the title says

    Hi of love.

  • @DuPuieproductions More formally loves greeeting

  • i cried when i first heard this. it's such a beautiful song..

  • @czarinaandrea12 S'not a song, issa choon innit. No lyrics like.

  • @harrythepiano AT last somebody else who gets pissed off by people who call a TUNE a song. It can't be a song if no-one is singing, but you can't tell them!!!!

  • Lovely piece, never hear it until now and i thinks its beautiful

  • Maybe, long ago, true love existed because they made it exist, but now, true love is only a fleeting moment in the steams of passion, too brief to notice or to take hold of.

Love this piece, makes me feel like I can feel again.

  • sweet love.

  • I. LOVE. ELGAR. he's such a romantic <3 I'm pretty frickin jealous of Alice Roberts... :) hehe.

  • Haunting and intensely moving .Deeply stirs an unfamiliar nostalgia for me. Curiously, it saddens me. Interesting experience Thank you for making it available .

  • He is my one favourite composer, but I think I can love so, too, cause I'm a musicain too

  • @Maasikas77777 Just because you're a musician doesn't mean you can feel the music you play. It took me just 5 years to grasp the meaning of feeling music. I was playing Mendelssohn's concerto when I was 12 when i really -felt- it.

  • @CMDmusic Feeling music is the most important thing for me in music and I never perform before I have done it with a piece. I feel music every time I do it. I have seen too many people just playing the notes and I really dislike it. The one thing I am famous of is that I feel music.

  • Will treasure and cherish forever.

  • 如此壓抑的情感 終於爆發出來了

  • I just helped my 11 year old Nephew do a report in this song and when I asked him what his thoughts were when he just were to listen to the music it's self he started to cry. Wow at 11 years old a child to feel that kind of emotion towards a song blows my mind. I my self Love this song but now I have another generation loving it also =)

  • @Valg5

    ..Is that normal?

  • @BelfastAtheist Yes for a child that will love music as he grows up it is very normal. I did and I am just fine and very creative =)

  • J'adore cette chanson elle me fait pense à tous ces bons moments que j'avais

  • even without lyrics, the message of this music can be captured easily

  • So many words, but none that describe the feeling this music brings!

  • Elgar's just amazing!

  • Beautifull piece of music. I´m just exploring Elgar´s work and did not expect such a romantic a sensitive melodie. Thanks for posting

  • dis is one great video love it. tnks for uploading....

  • very sweet and presents a passionate kind of feeling towards a love one

This classical song was used as a music for the I love my younger sister manga anime very awesome

  • i played this piece with my girlfriend..she played the violin and me the piano..so while playing it we got closer and closer and got together finally x)

    thx elgar x)

  • i just love this!

  • This piece was in the White Star Line red music book for the Titanic orchestra, so it was no doubt played on that fateful maiden voyage.

  • this is definitely one of my favorite pieces..

  • This piece is imbedded in my heart and has been for a very long time; Heartbreakingly beautiful.

  • Sweet, charming and captivating music.

  • my whole body resonates...ahh I love it

  • Marvellous !!!! I love this song !!!

  • sounds happy and sad

  • It's all a masage for my ears....

    ;)

  • Tpotfm14: Im playing it on violin- it is in the gd 5 selected violin examitnation pieces 2001-2004, so you probs cant get it now.

  • hey Dustlandindie, i play this with piano and a violin teacher for a concert (im 6th grade in music school) and i LOVE IT:)

  • It's such a beautiful piece (and insanely hard on the piano if you have the original sheet music), and I can't wait to learn it on the violin someday.

  • I play this in D rather than E. It is one of my favourite 'musing' pieces, because it is not technically difficult, but only sounds lovely if you put the emotion in it. You really have to feel it. Th is is a really beautiful recording, by the way.

  • What a calming music......I really wanted to own a violin...BTW this is my brothers account...^^,

  • Je l'adore, une sperbe pièce

    un super beau virtueuse

    5*

  • J'adore Salut D'Amour! Magnifique! Formidable!!! :D

  • @dobsondale

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not French; I just study and learn the language. It just seemed appropriate to comment in the French language in a French composition. I only intended to practice.

  • Ignore him. People should be able to say an write in whatever language they want. French is a lovely language, by the way. Keep practicing!

  • I'm a tried and true Brit if you don't mind.

  • Thank You. :D

  • C'est vrai! C'est fantastique, no?

  • @ImperatorMortis

    Oui. :D Il est vraiment.

  • oui oui.

  • @ImperatorMortis Oui, c'est magnifique

  • wow this is the music i've been always playing in o2jam. salut d' amour is amazing <3

and it was also played on the last episode in an anime called la corda d' oro

    fantastic ! :D

  • I have playlists by year 1950-1999 already.

So now I'm thinking farther out and just put this on my new 1888 top hits playlist!

Shared to me by my wonderful new friend Nancy in Emonton, Alberta

  • so touching

    so gentle

    so pure

    and so sweet

  • This is so beautiful a song!

I've never heard love being expressed so well in music before. <3

  • Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music to this with both parts?

  • sometimes i wonder if people today can love the way elgar did. He composed this for his wife and in truth, it sounds fleeting and very passionate, like first love, but it has the overtone of TRUE love, of a love which will last the years. Elegant, simple, and very frivolous but the passion put in its performance makes it sound eternal. Does this love exist anymore? It's so hard to find anything so beautiful.

  • @classifieds103 A beautiful comment. I believe the word you are looking for is "pure". In today's music and culture, fleeting gratification of appetite is put above INTENSE LONGING AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE WHOLE PERSON, BODY AND SOUL. Elgar's love sought to connect with another living soul; his passion sought the "Other", not himself.

Yes, this love does exist today, but is becoming increasingly rare due to the hedonism of our nihilist culture.

  • @AchillesShield totally agree. The modern interpretation of "love" calls for a sadistic, parasitic bond between two people. It's not the act of selfless transfiguration it used to be.

  • @classifieds103

    hmm..you make me feel nostalgic

however, i must agree! this was pure, simple, beauty.

  • @classifieds103 are these your words? wow

  • @cutepossession haha yes those are my words.

  • @classifieds103 true.. it's hard to find something so true as his love for his wife.. keep this spirit on.. i believe there are still true and pure love..

  • @classifieds103 it's good to see that there are still some that think like you do. i always play this when i want to convince myself that true love still exists. unfortunately, it's only a dream, an assumption that i make and that ends right at the end of the piece.

  • @shurubelr oh it exists alright. True love exists, it just so happens that most people can't find it. Especially when most people in today's culture are too worried about egoistic needs and "filling in the emptiness" of their own lives. The life of a married couple today is 50% more like projection rather than love. A cure for the most horrid of pestilence exists, just so happens that it hasn't been discovered.

  • @classifieds103 omg that is soooo true!!! i wish i was her!! .......*sigh*...... i would just love is if my husband wrote me songs that were filled with so much passion!!! but im not married, n i dont think my boyfriend will.... sadly. :/ *sigh*

  • @classifieds103 Sooo agreed..

  • @classifieds103 I totally agree with you. You hear so much about love in books and you grow up hearing about knights in shining armor and all that but it all has such a superficial overtone. This...the sheer expresion and feeling in it is truly amazing. It's put into sound but not into words.

  • @classifieds103 I totally agree with you. You hear so much about love in books and you grow up hearing about knights in shining armor and all that but it all has such a superficial overtone. This...the sheer emotion and feeling in it is truly amazing. It's put into sound but not into words.

  • @classifieds103 I agree and you're right!! And it's beautiful.

  • @classifieds103 love for his wife?!, maybe..you are sure an she, a woman, to wander that...we live in 2010, so enjoy the moment without this "wife..marriaje, love", just smells and feel the music, dont think.

  • this song makes me inspired of all my problems in life..

  • I love love love ELGAR!! :D

  • sounds so simple yet so strong and full of emotion... i am amazed.

    i love elgar for this

  • World renowned Korean violinist Kyung Wha Chung plays this recording.

  • So romantic.........a floating feeling......

  • this is beautiful, is it Nigel Kennedy playing? I think it is, not sure tho!! thanks for posting. JP

  • awe :) this is cute. haha <3

  • for some reason without seeing the title i had the impression that this piece was about love....I guess its composer should be happy that the piece is about love and sounds about love....

  • I love it.

  • innit

  • I really really LIKE it!:P

    it's so beautiful!

    full of elegance and Passion!:P

  • i'm a ballet dancer and i can tell you that nothing inspires a dancer more than music... this is just beautiful and inspires me right to the heart....beautiful

  • sin palabras................

  • entonces no comentes... ¿¿¿¿¿¿

  • La personne qui me joue cet air je lé pousses

    lol merci fabuleux moment

  • What makes Sir Edward Elgar one of the greats is that not only does he write gargantuan pieces of music such as The Dream of Gerontius, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, Symphonies 1and 2, Concertos etc... but also delightful tender and sentimental music such as this...what a gift this man gave to the world.

  • Its to beautiful

    I LOVE this Song

  • So beautiful

I play this on violin and I get so much pleasure out of performing it, more than any other piece

I would recommend it to any violinists. Its worth learning the violin to get to a high enough standard just so you can play this!

  • love it.

  • I almost never listen to classical music but when I do... I just love it! It's amazing!

  • There is a reason why it's stood the test of time

  • so................. a mazing

  • I know what you mean, I love metal and rock but classical is also awsome once in a while......especially things like the 'nutcracker suite' and the heavy guns like mozart :D

  • Elgar was largely self-taught. What an inspiration!

  • Oh crap!

My freind played this song before they handed out scholarhips for my high school.

    She was amazing!

    Great song!

  • its so gentle and it like leading different paths to people who are listening to it and it has a meaning

  • this piece is amazing

  • is this available for an oboe?

  • i don't think so... i could transcribe it if i knew a bit more about oboe. i'm almost done transcribing it for viola though (a few hours of sitting in front of the computer's worth of work). i'll ask my friend if she can teach me a little more about oboe so i can transcribe it. i'll see what i can do

  • Its breath-takingly sweet

  • its so beautiful.

does any body have the sheet music for this piece and/or for quartet?

  • IMSLP has a large number of public domain sheet music. As for a quartet, the piece should not be tremendously difficult to arrange.

  • Amo esta cancion, esta muy bonita, y mi amiga me conto como fue que la escribio el tal Elgar.

  • Un sello de amistad.

    Te Quiero Mucho Damaris.

Sabes que cuentas conmigo para lo que sea.

  • i love this piece!!! makes me want to learn to play an instrument....

  • Learn how to use the violin. It sounds exquisite.

  • One of my very favorite classical pieces!:)
