I just watched this video on youtube of a 9500ix not pickling up a bushnell radar gun. Why does the 9500ix not pick this radar gun up? Should this be a concern of mine? Is it because it's not a law enforcement gun?

They're not...they only look that way. I had just performed a Veil application on one of the vehicles and a bit of it dried on my hands before I had a chance to wash it off.

Complete incompetence. This review does not include a single performance number of this product. Just suggests that since it is expensive, it fits BMWs and Cadillacs, and you can have the display in red or blue' to match the color of your car.

so you have to have it on 1 setting, for example it cannot detect laser unless you have it on laser, but then if there's a cop with regular and u have it set on laser, you wont be notified?

The other day while i was driving, i noticed a cop sitting in a parking lot at an intersection. Radar did not go off, i looked closer and come to find out i know the guy. So i asked him if he had a radar in the vehicle, he said no, he was watching the intersection for red lighters. Just because its a cop car and you radar detector does not go off, this may be why.

I find it rather funny, when he says..

you would think in the high end model cars they would'nt have some cheap 300dollar unit in a bmw or cadilac...

but rather have a nice hidden radar/laser system that cost around 1grand or more...

this detector isnt the best espiecally for 300 you should get a Valentine 1

Yeah but it is a user preference thing, some people stand by escort and most reviews they say that they are in fact very good, even better than the V1. I don't think they are "cheap" but more or less "cost efficient" and not ever priced. I mean they don't have the magnesium body that v1 have, that has to cut costs. We all know the most important matter, is the whole reason you buy a radar detector, and that's the results it gives. Escort give very good results which are statistically proven.

I really think so. I have two, one red and one blue. Though they work exactly the same. If you use it together with your eyes, you will avoid a speeding ticket. So in my opinion it's worth it.

I'd be careful with eBay because of the potential of getting a radar detector that was originally gray-marketed and may not be serviceable.

Look for user 'escortradar' if you are interested in assuring that you are buying a legitimate and re-serialized refurbished unit from the manufacturer.

Watch out for bogus serial numbered units (should be relatively easy to spot because of the serial numbers stamped/printed are often of poor quality).

Yes, the spec display mode enables the Escort Passport 8500 X50 to display the actual freq out to three decimal places.

it is the best for 300 bucks if you wanan spend 400 for a V1 you must live with the fact that it falses as bad as a walmart cobra detector and if your gonna just to the 400 dollar range a Passport 9500xi is better than the V1

i highly agree with you but mine cost me 600 dollars because im in new zealand and our dollar isn't worth alot. i love bel/escort very impressive radar detectors. i am tryed the v1 and man the false alerts you get on ka are real bad i sold it and got the 8500 x50 very good choice

you just got to put it in L mode reduces alot of false alerts
