  • vancouver has a huge NDP presence. I'd be shocked if their papers favored harper. Likewise in Quebec.

  • I don't think the ottawa citizen endorsed the conservatives. When they endorse anybody, I'd say, they are more sympathetic to the liberals.

  • @darkside I would agree with that. And preferably they'd hold positions diametrically opposed to Ayn Rand's heroes, which, after all, were based on a serial killer she seemed to have a thing for.

  • I think an easy template for determining who would make good leaders, assuming we really need any at all, would be folks who pretty much represent the antithesis of someone like Ayn Rand, or most any of her ideas. So, simply make a list of what she promotes as good, and find someone who will do the opposite. They would, by definition, be sane, too, were they to assume positions contrary to Rand, so at least sanity wouldn't be a problem.

  • @kropotkinbeard1

we need people who can walk the walk , talk the talk, the leader has to be seen as completely corrupt free and morally consistent, so they can raise above nasty attacks and political apathy

  • `truevoice, I agree with your statement, to an extent, that great thinkers are not necessarily great leaders. That being said, I can't really think of many leaders who have been great thinkers. A really great thinker would be quite well aware that he doesn't know everything, nor would he try to pretend to. This is trivial. And while your statements sound nice, I don't know what they mean. What kind of experience? What kind of employment? Corruption is easy. NO relationships between corps and pol

  • But do they know Bob?

  • If the comments in the newspaper are often snarling, crazed and inhuman that's probably because they are not 'humans' just some drone running prsona management software don't let them get you down, what an honorable man Jack Layton, thanks for your video

  • @norehct

They were not online comments. The articles I were responding to were from Toronto Sun columnist Ezra Levant and Peter Worthington

  • Olivia deserves to have gotten better press in terms of some of the work she's try to get done. Its a pity that immigrants are too timid to make their concerns better heard.

  • @truevoiceofsanity

Too timid, and maybe too overworked, or too apathetic, and dont assume they mostly support NDP. Some of them are socially conservative and support the Conservative party.

  • @darksideofthenation I agree. Some of them are also economically conservative; nobody likes higher taxes, especially when they are making good money. Some of them are particularly suspicious of the NDP beause they seem them as being 'communist'. But my point is, there are a lot of them and family issues are a common concern enough concern that you'd expect their side of the story to be in our presses. Its not. We only hear one side.

  • @truevoiceofsanity

well, i will say that The Toronto Star was the only Canadian major newspaper that endorsed the NDP in the last federal election, all the others supported the Conservative Party during the last eleciton.

  • obey the government they love you

  • Canada needs a great thinker like G.A. Cohen for a leader.

  • @kropotkinbeard1 Great thinkers are not always great leaders. It rather depends on whether they can use the talents and knowledge of others. A person who thinks he knows everything is likely to be a bad leader and to cause bad things to happen. I'd like to see somebody with experience, a genuine interest in employment, some vision for the country, a balance of social and practical concerns, who isn't corrupt

  • @kropotkinbeard1

I googled him and he seemed to have alot of good points.

  • Oh I forgot remember Bob Rae isn't he a liberal now. That's right! My the entertainers just can't make up their mind these days.

  • lookin good baby

  • @Karza00

I always tried to when i am in front of people.

  • @darksideofthenation remember the game is called politics. His angle or lifetime career was to be accessible and care for people to make them believe he was there. Did he want to do this work ro was it for the career, only he and his family will know. I am glad you got to meet him if that keeps you going in life. But who really is jack in real life. I guess you know better than me..... u met him. But to me politicians are just rock star entertainers. Queue the teleprompter.

  • @Thorneization

I don't personally know him. Politicians shouldnt be like rock stars. Election campaign should not be like a reality tv show. Jack Layton inspired us to hope for more out of our government, he was born in a relatively privileged background; he didn’t have to this job and work so hard on election campaign while having cancer, his gave his life to Canada. He might not have died so quickly if he had chosen a more relaxing career or didnt work as hard to fight for Canadian.

  • @darksideofthenation yes yes his CAMPAIGN was to inspire us all I have been remembering that one for years. In Jack's honour you should run for Orange Crush (NDP). By the way I graduated with a masters in poly-sci from U of T.

  • @Thorneization

    Congratulation!

  • Good video.... though have you ever asked why do people look to politicians and trust them and yet we don't know them personally? We as people look at politicians as rock stars because they are just people on TV. Okay the man died, but come on Facebook was lit up Jack we will miss you. Who was there in grade school when little Jack was in the school.... play none of us. Harper has screwed us royally, liberals didn't even get out of the gate nor the bloc.

  • @Thorneization

I dont look up to politicans or rock stars or anyone..! But i can tell Jack really did care, and I have met him a few times even though I do not personally know him. He always made himself avaliable to the public.

His death made me cry several times, no other politicans would have the same effect on me.

  • I voted for this guy twice in the past.

  • I liked Jack Layton, I actually tend to vote Liberal but he made me consider the NDP a lot more seriously. What I like about Layton, is he actually addressed the needs of immigrants. As a guy who is now married to somebody overseas and suffering the impact of our sometimes arbitrary immigration rules, a person like Layton was a refreshing change. He will be missed.

  • @truevoiceofsanity

I read that he personally helped refugee applicants to gain status. He was that type of a guy, he and Olivia.

  • Very well expressed. If more people in Ottawa were like Jack this would be a much better country.

  • @spacecowboy5000 I still can't believe the guy is dead. :(.

  • @spacecowboy5000

    Yeah. one of a kind..

  • I was waiting for this video.

  • @GodlessManitoban

I wasnt ready to accept the truth. hon

Thanks for watching, how are you?

  • @darksideofthenation

I have a friend that is going through what Jack went through.

    I am okay and yourself?
