Man I tell you I'm 21 years old and I listen to what I call great music as far as jazz, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Country even classical and I tell you she's the greatest AND she only sang one genre of music (Gospel) and she's my favorite singer then there's everyone else no questions Asked! Also, I read her biography, seen all her intervews, listened to all her music, and it seems like her soul was spotless as if she was an angel from GOD Listen to that VOICE
Also - this is THE performance. She was in Europe somewhere...the Netherlands? - and she was standing outside in a very light rain, and that gave her voice something extra.
This has been uploaded a bunch of times...and last time one of the commenters was a Japanese guy I think. He said, "It is a thunder!! Explosion of nuclear weapon!!!" Not wrong. When she opens her eyes at the end there is no doubt whom she sees.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations;and then shall the end come.matthew:24:14. THANKS JESUS.
I think this is the best version i've ever heard. Where did you get this video? I really like it specially the end, is so emotional, diferente from the others versions i heard. :D
this is the late concert she ever performed and this is the end of her singing career she clasped at the end of this selection is the reason they let her voice echo she died a few months after in Chicago's Little Company of Mary Hospital in Janurary of of 1972.... She Lives On Mahalia Lives in my heart
What an awesome recording. Mahalia's "The Lord's Prayer" is probably the best version ever recorded, and there've been many great ones-- including by her. I just wish the ending didn't electronically fade out in this clip. Thanks, poweka, for posting this.

Reading your comment had moved me so much that I had tears in my eyes.Thank you for such a moving comment.
I have 4 CD's of Mahalia Jackson and I am still on the look out for more.
I get most of my CD's off Ms Jackson off E-Bay.
