I agree on the 4 cable method not sounding great with some MESA amps (have a triple rect and I dont use it with that). I do use 4 cable on a Splwn Quickrod and love the tone I get that way. Some amps seem to play nicely ...and others not the tone you are used to. agreed
With that setup I would take out the G-System's "brain" and put it in a rack unit, and have it connected to the amp's FX Loop (send & return). Then put the most important stompboxes in the G-System Loops. Which allows you to turn them on by using the Loop 1 - 3 buttons on the actual G-System unit.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this would work good wouldn't it?
Actually its a pretty good unit, besides a few bugs ! I use only the modulation fx part into the FX Loop, dont like the 4-cable system or the pedals input !! I prefer to put the pedals in front, like a normal setup and the G System in the loop, as with a normal FX Unit !
Nice rig! Quick question though, how do you have the FV500-H set up as a volume pedal? I'm having trouble setting mine up correctly, if I use the EXP jack it calibrates decently but it cuts the effects as well when I depress it, which I dont want when doing volume swells, and when I use the OUT jack it stops the calibration midway and goes back to 0 at max position.
I put it in between the out from the board and the loop from the amp !! That way I have the spills of delays and verbs and dont have trouble calibrating the pedal !! You have 2 ways to connect, one you cut all the spills and the other you keep, just dont remember if its in the input/send or out/return, need to check (or you can test) ! G System is awesome, as long as you figure an alternative way for the bugs features ! Best Regards.
