  • Although its Lip sync... Good to see the boys. No Mics... In the 60's? LOL

  • The steel guitar in this song kicks ass

  • gram parsons of course instead of gram hillman and the incompable sneaky pete on pedal steel

  • From the album "Sin City: The Very Best of the Flying Burrito Brothers" ?!??!!?!? Outlaw country??!?!? This is a great video but a bit misinformed. I'm sure this is on a bunch of compilations/best of's, BUT this is from "The Gilded Palace of Sin" the first (and best IMO) Burrito Brothers album. Waylon Jennings is Outlaw Country, this is Cosmic American Music.

  • @ILikeMusicTo0 yall got that rite. Mr. Parsons, may he rest in peace, was way ahead o his time, but we is lucky he left sum musics fer posterity cause he done sum great cosmic american tunes.

  • Parsons was a nice guy but made bad decisions & couldn't put down the drugs & it caught up with him, not sure if I'd idolize him due to that but it's nice to see old clips of him.

  • @Anglynn74 Gram was an addict. He couldn't stop using and sometimes he wasn't a nice guy. He could be a great guy at times, but he was driven to make music. I remember watching him make lists of songs he knew - I think he was as addicted to music as anything else. But, hey, we do get to enjoy that part of him that he left behind.

  • great

  • Sneeky Pete made this outfit..a few strums on a Tele do not a classic make..ok the harmonies were pretty classic, Pete was an integral member of the band, even though he wore the worst hat ever! Credit where it is due huh?

  • @Rikk303 Spot on. I love the Bros. but the backing is not always of the highest quality.

  • @chainrelease listen to this song on Last of the Red Hot Burritos & re-assess. This video is obviously from some jackass TV show back then.

  • chris hillman's mustache is GROSS!

  • Only one side of the stereo track can be heard on this video. That cuts Chris Hillman's vocal out (he sings the first verse) and no harmony.

  • It's funny to see Parsons bust up, but I don't think it's the hat that Sneaky Pete is wearing...it's the lick he plays just after they sing the line "Her number always turns up ijn your pocket"...some kind of inside joke.

  • ♥Gram♥ .....Parsons that is.

    Beautiful soul.

  • good recording...

  • I mean rock´n´roll Gram...

  • Fuck is that Gram?

  • AMAZING lipsynching

  • I don't think Chris Hillman is jealous of someone dead 38 years now. Chris Hillman's walls are lined with gold records and he's had a remarkable career since Gram went his own way. GP was a total fuck-off, and if it weren't for his 'elders' greatness, there'd been no FBB

  • Hillman was so envious and jealous of Gram :(

  • @musicmagic53 You're kidding right? Hillman is of the best song writers ever.

  • WHOA....PURE TALENT

  • Mesmerizing! I just saw Grand Theft Parsons - He and Hillman melded so fine, both in harmonies and stage presence. I've been on a years-long kick on six days and was lookin for a new parsons obsession. Bravo!

  • Interesting that the Burritos get all the credit for pioneering country rock - when 3 years before this - Gene Clark wrote "Tried So Hard" and two years before this was in Dillard and Clark....

  • Gene Clark was way ahead of anybody: never got any credit; much more talented , but GP was a master at self promotion.

  • Who the fuck is Gram Hillman? It's Parsons. Gram Parsons!

  • a flying burrito? *daydream*

  • Gram Hillman ? wyf

  • What a great song....."wheels" anybody?

  • I want that suite ;)

  • @beautybordello What suite?? Theres no furniture.

  • What a pair ! Gram and Chris made terrific songs , this one is mindblowing as also the entire first LP which i consider a country-rock genuine masterpiece.

  • I wish they still made music like this. The music of the Flying Burrito Brothers will live on forever!

  • What terrific work on the slide!

  • Can you please post the tune ''Just Can't Be'' by the Flying Burrito Brothers? I think the tune is so cool. I first heard it on the radio in Vancouver B.C. in the summer of 1971. I can't get the tune out of my head I like it so much.

  • Hillman looks likes he could be bevis's dad

  • You can see how sympatico Hillman and Parsons are here. Later, Hillman would smash one of Parson's guitars to splinters....so much anguish and frustration watching Gram disintegrate....really a sad story. Gram is gone, Chris Hillman is still with us, healthy and still playing. RIP, Gram.

  • I prefer it when Lene sings this

  • The moon is full and youre just wastin time...........classic line

  • wow...

  • magical...

  • crapola.

  • The squeezing of the picture with accompanying graphics doesn't help....!

  • \m/ \m/ l0.0l

  • just beautiful

  • The Burritos were so far ahead of their time, great musicians, singers and songwriters. No cowardly view about going to Canada, that was the best perspective if you wanted to save your life. SCREW you, pbprick6301 You don't have a clue what you're talking about! You weren't there.

  • 1960s high baroque fashion and sound. Excellent!

  • Comment removed

  • the burrito bros, would of been great except they had songs about going to canada to avoid the draft what about that? thats a coward view.

thats the only reason they are rejectd by real country music fans.

they basicly supportd n vietnam with music.

    the hell with them.

  • i've heard the burritos out in California can fly higher than the sky -David Allan Coe

  • i've heard the burritos out in California can fly hight than the sky -David Allan Coe

  • i love GRAM!

  • Gram and The Burritos influenced my favorite rock and country musicians way more than The Eagles. Burn out, don't fade away.

"Fuck that! I want my rockstars dead!"

    -Bill Hicks

  • I noticed that during the video that you see the drummer and bass player switch places. look for the orange Nudie drumming ,then you see him standing behind Hillman and Parsons on bass, then back to the drums. It is really neat to hear where a lot of the music we listen to came from. And to hear Parsons and Hillman doing this stuff is really exciting to me. It has all trickled down from age to age and blended with other styles and really makes for some Cosmic sounds.

  • this was my first real country record: I am a lucky man

  • Classic overlooked and under-rated song, thanks for posting.

  • Grams Parsons was in the Byrds before this band.

  • Gram was Keith Richards long lost Brother, according to Him, and His best friend until OD'ing in 1973. Gram was a Great influence on Keith and His songwriting. They were suppose to do a album together. Could you imagine?!

  • @428SCJ what a dream that'd have been :(

  • this video is fucking retarded

  • @testerz123456 No your fucking retarded.

  • Gram Hillman???? you mean Gram Parsons

  • look! its michael clarke (ex byrds too), playing drums in the back. i guess no one ever notices him...like always

  • @NLFilms I noticed him! Killer song, amazing footage, Grams voice, Chris's voice and sneaky pete's steel guitar, pure magic...A

  • @NLFilms I notice Mike Clarke isn't in the 8mm clips from Joshua Tree spliced to this video.

  • @NLFilms I did!

  • Saw Chris Hillman three summers back and his wonderful voice hadn't aged one bit. In any other band but The Byrds he would have been the lead singer.

  • chris hillman is so versital at all facetts of music that anything he does will be high quality.

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 Solid As A Rock.

  • Comment removed

  • Credit for country rock would probably go to McGuinn and Hillman.

Gram Parsons was a bright star who burned out quickly... still love him.

  • Lets not forget ex-Byrds drummer Michael Clarke

  • Compared to what comes out of Nashville today, slick, raucous, pop junk, the Burritos have become stone country. Hey Nashville, there's a difference between music and "product". The songs are lost in a "sound" and the sound has no soul. Ain't hardly no real country or true music of the heart now....:-)

  • OTTIMI, MA LA VERSIONE LIVE IN AMSTERDAM E' MAGICA! WANTED THIS VERSION!

  • Holy crap! Psychobilly pedal steel!

  • Eagles don't come close..this great song owes a lot to the Everly Brothers

  • oh, and the proper album reference should be:

The Gilded Palace of Sin (1969)

  • The text in this video is wrong(ish). Gram Parsons isn't the father of 'Country Rock', he's the father (and inventor) of "Cosmic Country" as he called it. And, by association, (in my mind at least) he's the grandaddy of Alt. Country.

  • Classic pedal steel...

  • this is cool old shit country. makes me thirsty for a couple budwiesers

  • Did not get to see the Burrito's until Gram had already left. Too bad.Played at a little joint on Cape Cod in maybe 72 with Rick Roberts as the guitar player. Not a bad version of the band, just after the album with Colorado and White Line Fever. Michael Clark was heavily into a bottle which we now know killed him.Very entertaining show and good to see Chris Hillman up close.

  • Great post. They probably ruffled some feathers by adding a fuzz box to the pedal steel LOL. 'You're not supposed to do that'.

  • This Band had the making's of it all. Rock and Rollers playing REAL Country. SO MANY different styles. The Distorted Steel is the Shit! if you Don't, GET IT,that is cool too. Music is always a diferent thing for different people.

  • These talented 'outlaws' created a new refreshing genre of music called Country Rock. Sadly, they were looked upon as rebels and renegades so were ostracized and sidelined by the people running the main stream country music industry.

  • y'know, this song was a lot funnier when i first heard it on the radio and thought they were singing nympho in disguise...

  • I saw them at the Filmore East in 1970 they were sooooooo good. We were quite crazy back them and a bunch of friends and me were nicknamed the "Flying Berefto Brothers" lol. :)

  • Gram, said when He first heard the Eagles. He said they were like a," Dry, Plastic Fuck". The Eagles should ,NEVER be mentioned in the same sentence with the FBB.

  • Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, Byrds of a feather.

  • I don't think there's any doubt that The Stones were influenced by Gram. However, Mick and Keith had a well documented love of Country Music long before meeting Gram. They were kindred spirits. It's akin to the Jimi and Clapton meetings. Both at the top of their games and both coming from the same place influence wise. No doubt influencing ea other. That's what music is all about...or used to be anyway.

  • @funandeducation

You mean it blows your mind ?

  • @psychkoala Yes! It blows my mind totally... I don't quit understand why people dig this stuff... are they all country music lovers that like gimmicks? I mean, not true music lovers that have studied music and appreciate talent? Please... if you're a fan... explain the appeal and why you truly enjoy this, ummm, stuff.

  • @funandeducation .....cuz for its day it blended a cosmic, spacey, lyrical quality to standard, contemparary country sounds, creating what we kind of know as "Country Rock" a term that Gram did not like. Like alot of artists, he hated genre labels and referred to his own music as "American Music".

But, back on point, I love it for it's tight harmonies and catchy hooks.

  • Why not go find something that you enjoy, instead of finding stuff to complain about? If somebody has to explain it to you, you are never going to understand it anyway. Man, I don't have enough time to spend on all the stuff I love to listen to and play, let alone find time to go piss on other people's parades.

  • @psychkoala YES

  • No, that song is called "Two Souls (Angelina). I think it's about Audrey Hepburn's Character in "Breakfast At Tiffany's." Great song, but I'm not sure if Leadon or Parsons wrote it. It's hard as hell to find the original.

  • The problem with The Eagles is that there sound was too Cali and not enough Nashville. Parsons could do the Bakersfield thing, but he didn't forget the Appalachian roots of country, nor its gospel influences.

I just can't imagine The Eagles having the balls to do 'I Like The Christian Life'.

  • this song reminds me of me haha...love this song..

  • Listen to the Stones from Late 1968 to 1971. The FACT IS Gram turned the Stones on to American country Music. He had a HUGE influence on Keith during that time. Mick was jealous of how of how Gram and Keith became good friends during that time frame. Just listen to Exile On Main Street. you can tell just by listening to it, Gram influened Keith. The fact that they were BOTH Herion user's did not help matter's any. Do your homework.

  • fucking brilliant!!!!!!

  • Watching this clip I notice Gram Parsons had quite an attitude towards Chris Hillman and you can tell by the body language Hillman didn't like that at all. It's funny to watch though!

What a great song this is!

  • GREAT POINT' S ABOUT THE BAND! If Gram was what Chris H. say's He was ,I find it odd. To this day Keith Richards says he was his"MATE". . The Stones learned alot from Gram, esp. Keith. I can't understand Chris's attitude?

  • @428SCJ The Stones learned a lot from Gram? You are telling dirty lies. Is it nice in the alternative world you are living in?

  • @djscreaming

who do you think wrote Wild Horses ... ah, Keith? check it it was largely Gram. hell, there are a half dozen vids of the demos they wrote on youtube, search gram parsons Keith Richards stones

  • Nudie suits!

  • Good stuff

  • nice post..

  • That is one of the most stupid things I have ever heard. Your readiness to judge them (very young men, warped by the forces of massive fame and commercialism) shows that you need a lot more introspection.

  • I saw the last show Gram played with the band. They were not happy that weekend.

  • @Kramnosnits: I've heard others say that Gram was forced out of the band. What was the cause? If you would, please describe for us your recollections of that last performance of the band with Gram.

  • Yes..I was there both nights at the Family Dog in S.F. at an defunct skate rink located at the now demolished 'Playland By The Beach'. NOT more than 25 people in the audience - I think the Dog ost money on that one. L to R -Gram, Mike Clark HIllman, Leadon, Sneaky. I stood dead center..point blank, The stage was about 12" high. Could have touched them. Mostly from the Burrito Deluxe Lp, One good song was Lucille. Gram sang wild horses w/ a Gibson J-200. Chris a unburst P-bass. They smoke cigs,

  • @Kramnosnits: Thanks for posting your memories. I didn't know that The Family Dog produced shows at venues other than The Avalon Ballroom, which by the way has reopened as The Renaissance Center--a much fancier place now. I'll bet it was a great show; wish I was there.

  • this is backed up by that book "20,000 roads" which is obviously about his majesty. while repetitive and tedious at times, observes just how bad a band this was on some nights - depending on his majesty's "state of mind" that night. don't believe me? check out chris hillman's account. not that he has an axe to grind. oh, he does? well, he damn well should have - considering his writing partner's behavior. but in the end (literally)... gram was 24 and his bandmates weren't any saints either.

  • if that's a little on the bitter side, it's only because they could have been a great band if not for a lot of needless stuff. or at least stuck around longer. but maybe that's not so bad.. look at the eagles. longevity ain't always a good thing (yawn).

  • Played with Chris Ethridge tonight in Meridian, MS. Known him since I was a little kid. Still a F'in GREAT bass player.

  • @jbeTV1 Chris Hillman really makes this song! The Burritos were the best of that time. Gram, you are loved, and never forgotten....

  • Father of country rock? Have a word

    x

  • awesome

  • ótima banda de country rock

    muito bom esse som

  • Have loved them for going on 40 years, thanks for posting.

  • Chris Hillman is so sweet and beautiful.I love everything about him!

  • Sneaky Pete Klienow is playing the pedal Steel...but could manage to make it sound like an electric Guitar. Just Like Clarence white strived to do pedal steel stuff with his B Bender Guitar. So the stuff here that sounds like a normal electric is in fact Pete........

  • Chris Hillman: Bob Dylan hair!!! LOL

  • Looks like Michael Clarke (Byrds, Firefall) on drums. Who's on steel guitar and bass?

  • Sneaky Pete on pedal steel & Chris Ethridge on bass

  • Beautiful song!

  • Coolest fucking guitar tone ever. Love the solo.

  • Wauw, this is simply great! No wonder Keith got inspired from Parsons.

Side 2 on Exile wouldn't exist without Parsons, and side 2 on that album is to my mind 1st class Stones.

R.i.p. and shoot all heroin dealers.

  • Great fuzz tone on the steel gitar...Never heard that before>

  • one of grams best songs. youtube needs more live burritos videos. i just uploaded a live video of them at altamont singing six days on the road with parsons. check it out if your a fan.

  • The Flying Burrito Brothers totally blow the Eagles away!

  • @MartyRotten what do you dream at night of?

  • @wambui37 Very strange and surreal things.

  • @MartyRotten I believe this immediately, so I can also understand the comment.

  • @MartyRotten all the eagles ever did was rip off the international submarine band, gram parsons, stone canyon band, poco. yes, i know some of those acts had members who would later find their way to the eagles. all the eagles ever did was make it generic = more commercial.

  • @johnrunion Yes! Thank you! The Eagles were just a watered down "mellow" version of the outlaw country rock of the late 60s and early 70s!

  • @MartyRotten yes. you are right. i agree 1,000%! the eagles were not dedicated to creativity. they were dedicated to $...to their careers. gram was the trail blazer. all the eagles did was follow the path he and others cleared before them. chris hillman shouldn't be under estimated either. glen frey wasn't even wanting to make country-rock at one point; he was wanting to make motown records!

  • @MartyRotten the byrds, the burritos, international submarine band, gram parsons, stone canyon band, poco, chris hillman that was the real stuff.

  • @MartyRotten Agreed!

  • thats a lovely song. thanks.

  • dwight yokam(?) the character he plays in sling blade rules the nation. I guess they'll be no dw. y. and pat. sw. movies not that that buetiful man has gone up to heaven (rip pat.sw.) any who thanks for the good video

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • thank you for posting this.

  • None of these guys would exist if not for Don and Phil Everly.

  • Very Well put. Chris said when him and Gram did the vocals for this song that is what they were shooting. They sang facing each other.

  • Humble enough to give credit where credits due. Class acts- not like these high minded undertalented and overrated assholes today.

  • Nice! Five stars!

  • I've seen Gram's Nudie suit at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. Very cool. Gram is much smaller than you would guess. He looks tall, but his bandmates are even smaller... Nudie has a lot of items in the Hall of Fame. Hopefully, Gram will be inducted one day.

  • Chris first, because he contributed so much more than Gram. The Desert Rose Band alone is reason to induct him - now.

  • mario84000

  • The suit Gram is wearing was designed by Nudie Cohn who designed suits for everyone from Buck Owens to ZZ Top.

  • Chris Ethridge on Bass and Michael Clark (original Byrd) on drums.

  • I like Chris Hillmans suit.

  • The suit is in the County Music Hall of Fame. I'm reading about it in the Gram Parsons biography, Twenty Thousand Roads.

  • Wonder where Gram's suit is now.

  • i think its because they are miming that gram is fooling around,

    great anyway thanks

  • Love this shit. Killer.

  • sneaky pete! the jimmy page of the pedal steel!!

  • Is it just me or is Gram kinda prima donna in this video. A little too much acting up for my taste.

  • it's just you.nothing wrong with having alittle fun in life.

  • Nothing wrong at all......until it kills you.

  • and what's wrong with that?maybe some folk aren't as nostalgic as you are.

  • Your comment didn't make any sense to me. What's wrong with what?
