Please go to "the3dstudio" and search for „Swiss Patriot“. It’s a free download and everything is included. Have fun, if you are going to build one. But you might have to change the overall dimension. Start with the monitor. It’s the biggest part. Also look for the right hinges. (Have a look in your kitchen.) Take an old ATX case and rip three sides away. Then look for alu extrusions by Adam Hall. When you fix the speakers take care, that there are no vibrating parts.
Hallo PyroGuideToHappiness, this PC was made for trainings and seminars. So I wanted to have sound in both directions. I used “lift off cabinet hinges” so I can put the speakers away and can use a microphone. I also build in a very good sound card, a PCI inside the case. But this was a real defeat, because the graphic card radiation can be heard in the speakers now. For really good sound I use a USB external sound card.
I notice that you guys are using a really thin lcd screen, is it from a notebook? In that case, how did you connect that to vga?
My project is a kind of a "wacom cintiq portable pc" all in one. But I need to solve the lcd weight issue. Among that, with a touchscreen kit from e-bay and a Via C7 or something I'm done.
I used a standard SAMSUNG Syncmaster 740B and I didn't change the case of the monitor. I fixed the monitor on a selfmade frame, which I jointed to the computercase using the same hinges you may find in your kitchen-cupboard. A Wacom Cintiq is a very good idea. It has more weight then my SAMSUNG, but the monitor is not the problem. Try to spare weight on power unit and cooler. Wish you good luck.
Where is the fun in that? I mean seriously, if you have the knowledge and skill to build it yourself why not? Besides if you build it yourself it is exactly what you want.
can I have the .dwg file please?

why are the speakers facing you when they are closed? they should be facing inward so that when you open it, it's facing you.

they already have portable computers. Theyre called laptops.

Laptops are boring me, because I have no time to wait and play with toys.
I am a professional CAD user and with this computer I can do my work.
Do you understand?

what parts did you use and where did you get them?
emilyisaturtle 2 years ago
It is pretty big, It could have been smaller and more qumpact.
SteamLocomotiv 2 years ago
Nothing than a normal ATX factor was acceptable. No mobile parts - only heavy duty parts. Because of that it works really great.

how did you mount the monitor?
emilyisaturtle 2 years ago
I made it very, very easy with kitchen door hinges, for appr. USD 10,--/pc. This works great.

What's the program you used to design that?
GridTec 3 years ago
AutoCAD 2007, without application.
agentlumino 3 years ago
Is it free by any chance? Or is there a freeware app similar to this?
GridTec 3 years ago
AutoCad can be very expencive... But theres a website where you can find all sorts of open source software. Go to: osalt.c0m and search for autocad.

Why did you choose ATX over MATX for portability?
haz939 3 years ago
ATX boards have flexibility. Also the dimensions of the case are based on the size of the monitor. It was the biggest part in this case.

we used AutoCAD 2007 for 3d- and 2d-construction and 3D Studio Max for visualization

You have to go to an authorized Autodesk dealer. If you are student, you will get a student-version, which is much cheaper.
