@TheeAldeen It has many names, including Tuning eye (which I think was the first name. Who made the first one of these tubes? We can always check out the datasheet for it's original name). "Seeing Eye" tube is a common nickname I cannot say I've seen on a datasheet. hehe And I see what you did there. :D Rack'ed? Cannot say I've seen a racked tube Viking/RCA radio.
@TheRoknemec Yep your correct. You really need an imagination when you have a Heathkit Capaci-Tester CT-1. It looks nice but it's not all that useful. That said I got it for cheap I can't complain, it's a nice show piece. But other then telling me it's a working capacitor (being tested), it's not at all useful (doesn't tell you if it's still a working capacitor still in tolerance of it's rating).
@TheKisho You should use this magic eye in a radio project. The magic eye was invented for one purpose: it signals the strenght of a radio signal (station). Be creative!!
@TheRoknemec But then my Heathkit would be less then a cyclops... Bind! har har. Besides the old Heathkits look so nice. Man I'd love to find a cheap local Heathkit or similar looking oscilloscope. Maybe if I pick another one (magic eye) up I'll add it to the old tube (RCA AM) radio I have. I'm sure I can work in when I design a new case.
