Hi. I registered my copy of SeaTTY about two months ago, and mostly use it for RTTY. I still use WXsat for fax, which also features auto start/stop/save/record on the start tone. I still use it because it also decodes the polar orbiting satellites (NOAA 15, 17, 18, and 19). Wxsat can also decode in the 'No Data 8' mode for the greyscale satellite HF rebroadcasts, Im not so sure Seatty does that.
I also have the 394. It was junk IMO till I did all the mods for it. I cannot believe the difference in doing those mods. My question is, why in the world didn't they "do it right" straight from the manufacturer. Great receiver IMO.
Hi mate. I had problems with 'slant' at first, the slant was so bad the image was barely discernable. If you have the same problem go to PARAMETERS, click COMMON and change the FS CORRECTION number. If it slants top left to bottom right then the number needs to be higher than 1. Top right to bottom left slant it needs to be less than one. I had to change mine to 1.006935 to get rid of slant. Also, you are tuning 1.9kHz down from the given frequency arent you? Good luck.
Wow amazing stuff, I also have a DX-394 and interested in receiving weather fax. Tell me, What kind of software and hardware do I need to decrypt this signal ?
You only need a lead to connect the 'Ext Spkr' output on the 394 to the 'Line In' on your soundcard. Download and instal 'WXSAT 2.5'. Read the tutorials... and away you go.
Give SeaTTY a try, it has auto start/stop on the tone and auto slant correction as well :)

Alright i did not know that.
Now, for NOAA i use WXtoIMG it's prettymuch THE best piece of software for NOAA images, even the free version is kickass :)
Have you tried it ?

No, I havent, but I did read quite a bit about it. In the end I stuck with APTdecoder, the full version is free.

The only thing i need is a better rx for NOAA as the F817 seems to wide on 137MHz i tried narrow mode and it helped a lot tho.

Acording to the download instructions WXsat isn't compatible with VISTA

Hi, thanks for watching.
My aerial is just a longwire. Its about 65ft long, 25ft off the ground, and running north/south.
Nothing special is required for HF fax.
