First time seeing this video. Okuri Eri Jime or sliding collar choke. Very nice set up. He had it sunk in before Damian slid out of half guard to his feet. Watch his arms at :46, he gets his right arm through and under Maia's left arm, then goes with his left hand to the cross collar to the nape of the neck to apply the choke...he has it sunk in before Maia gets to his feet and he drops to guard cause he knows he has it set. so subtle, love it.
Xande is a great fighter with the gi! And there is not alot I can say bad about him. But when he fought Roger its not really like he was engaging aganist him after he scored on him. Xandes jiu jitsu is as crisp as his teaching. Incredibly detailed,, Also one hell of a nice guy. I like Braulio and Romulo's sweeps. Its awesome to tall guys roll, you learn alot about leverage because its easier to see and alot more space than say a marcelo body type.

i have the utmost respect for xande. but the best has to be the best in both worlds, with the GI and without the GI. Roger has done just that and Marcelo is beginning to dominate the GI as well. and he's been out for a while.

maybe in no gi submission grappling.
a lot of different factors. like not being able to use the gi for a choke. or playing a lot of different guards that require gi grips.
drysdale seems to think that he can beat roger gracie in their upcoming super fight in the ADCC 2009. can't wait to see that.
but i'm routing for roger.

the only way to definitively measure the best can only be evidently based through accomplishments. not through whether who defeats who.
arguably the best grappler TODAY based on accomplishments is definitely Roger Gracie. consistently finishes 1 or 2 in the mundials.
and arguably the best pound for pound in no gi submission grappling, would be marcelo garcia. 3 straight years in his division in the ADCC.
