  • So..., where is the documentary? Is it available somewhere in the net?

  • I am only afaid of life

  • Hello? It's been three years, and I would like to see this documentary before I too, pass into the great unknown. Any news on its release??? Thank you!!

  • Marcus Aurelius : Death smiles at us all, but all a man can do is smile back

  • this is pretty neat

  • did you finished it? I work for a tv channel I'm interested, how can I contact you?

  • We count days because days count. '

  • 'We count days because days count. '

  • pop philosophy

  • 0:41 0:50 arası şunu anlıyoruz ki bilgi herşeydir. seviyorum seni bauman !!! idolümsün olum...

    ccc bauman ccc :D

  • "It is because of mortality, that we count days, and days count."

  • "It is because of the knowledge of mortality, that we count days, and days count."

  • This video is highly laughable. There is nothing in what this man is saying that hasn't been said by some 13 year old who likes science fiction hasn't said. Bauman makes a caricature out of himself (the pipe-smoking academic), the style/dramatization of the segments between his interviews are poorly acted nonsense - style over substance, Richard Rorty is the best.

  • @Savorist

Most characteristic of North American students is the fact that they are "fans" of specific philosophers, rather like one is a fan of a sports team, and they think that because they are fans of Rorty, they must crap on all others. But, crapping isn't thinking, of course.

In Europe, students tend to be attracted to specific problems, not specific thinkers.

Consider this before you vomit in a public forum for all to see,

  • @laoq7654

look, this guy is a buffoon, not worth your time. what he is saying is not intelligent - just epic shit i said when i was 12.

and by the way, idiot, a specific philosopher usually focuses on a specific problem his/her entire career, so the two are one in the same. but if you'd like to compare europe and north america, i'd be happy to talk world war 2 any day of the week.

    bon vivant, asshole

  • @Savorist Your argument is actually made less attractive by your rudeness. I suppose you are entitled to your opinion, albeit a rather basic and naïve one. One thing I must take issue with though is that you seem to imply that Bauman surrounds himself with books and smokes a pipe for some sort of pretentious image.

  • @karmmanuel1

how has any of what i said been basic or naive, o holy one?

  • google Doe's Account, its mindblowing

  • Come on, guys, it's not so hard to understand what he is saying. Just pay more attention to him than to the tune.

This guy is amazing. Any book you read that's been written by him is bound to change your lives. For real - and bear in mind tha I am a skeptic!

  • Sounds like my Grandfather who was Polish so I have an idea what he's saying. Polish are usually a bit miserable (but in a nice way). But he's a very interesting thinker.

  • Bauman is definitely interesting, but not so much when it concerns this subject. And what's up with that Silver Mt. Zion loop? It's not really working out that well..

  • i can't understand a damn word he said.

  • I am laughing too hard right now. you are really keeping it real!

  • turn off the music in the background, can't hear him!

  • lol

  • Actually Bauman served in the Polish Army under the Soviets in WWII. He fought in Berlin and was awarded a Soviet Cross of Valour. He is a renowned sociologist and has published dozens of important books and articles. He is almost 84 years old. When he dies, he will be remembered. When you die, to quote him, "no one will remember you" (0:54).

  • hahaha..

  • He does not sound like a tough grizzled old soldier but some kind of dandified Nancy boy, who spends wars at home and he is indubitably no sea-dog but the sort of pasty landlubber I have always despised. I'll warrant the most exciting thing that has happened to this limpid prawn in a whole year, was the day when he forgot to put sugar in his porridge!

  • You are unbelievably misinformed, and to say the very least, pretty damn weird. "Sugar in his porridge" lmao....

  • @weezer91101: No chance! A good friend of mine persuaded me to read some text of him and then give my opinion about this some months ago and when I saw this video I could not resist revelling into the black humour of The Black Adder!

  • does anybody know when will this documentary be ready?

  • No idea but I'm waiting..

  • He was a great Polish.

  • After All, When will the documentary be ready? does somebody there know ?

  • He is a great Polish man.

  • only because he was born in poland doesn't make him "a great Polish man".

his family had to flee Poland.

  • Bauman is amazing. I hope some day he is better known.

  • Subtitles please. Soundes like it is worthed to be listen to throughly. [2]

  • look at: Doctor Aubrey de grey. please support him to save your self.

  • I´ve read his books, here, in Mexico. He´s my personal philosopher.

  • Waiting very much for the doc. Great!

  • the music its too loud. looking forward to seeing the whole film though. good luck in making it.

  • looks very promising indeed.. just hope the doc will be finished and published. As a fan of Baumans work, I´m keeping my finges crossed.

  • This looks incredibly promising. Having the chance to see Bauman talk so candidly is great, and your production values are copasetic. I have to admit the monologue's audibility is not so hot. Check out the Jurgen Habermas stuff on Youtube to see how this is troubling. While you're probably not keen to mess with the look of your documentary subtitles really would be helpful. Good luck with your funding.

  • Thanks, is there an emailing list or somehow I find out when it'll be coming out?

  • Is this documentary going to be screened anywhere in the UK? I'd love to watch it. Sheffield DocFest maybe?

  • Hi, this doc is not yet made, we're raising funds at the moment - we have more to film with Bauman and the illustrating strands.

  • @jorrismones Please do it as quickly as possible. Mr. Bauman is of an advanced age as it is, so catch him whilst he can still lend his own voice to his ideas! Not to be morbid or anything.... touch wood... just sayin'. Bauman is awesome!

  • @jorrismones

I hope you raise the funds...
