I just fixed this took it out side ran over it with my left front wheel of my car a few time I'm going to pack up the parts and ship them to one of those repulsive male CEO's that make like 100 million a year at sony and recommend that he shove all the parts up his, were the sun don't shine

The fix is to buy a new camera, it's the cable that gives the screen signal, it broke...

One other note...the new riboon won't look ANYTHING like the one your take off. If you're like me you'll say you've got the wrong part. The ribbon fold over on itself in a very unique way. Pay particular attention to how the the old ribbon is folded to get it right. Also watch out for the ribbon with the little toggle on it and where it goes. I'm still trying to figure that one out. The new ribbon does fit perfectly if you get it right. Again...patience is required...and very good notes.

It's the ribbon cable. You can buy one for $20. A word of caution, however. Replacing the ribbon is NOT an easy task. If you're comfortable with jigsaw puzzles then give it a shot. Take really good notes what came off of where/when and I'd recommend taking photos of each step or using another video of what you do so you can retrace your steps visually. I wasn't smart enough to do this so it was fun putting it back together.  It can be done though...and you'll save a $300+ repair cost.

The same problem on my camera... I opened it to see if I could do something to fix it (incredibly opening and closing a device may help with simple problems on electronic devices sometimes ). But it didn't make a great difference. However, I found that if you open the LCD (just move it as if you were going to use the camera, don't unscrew anything!) about 10 minutes before turning the camera on to record, it starts working better (not perfect).

So that is exactly what my camera suddenly started doing....I did not drop it or anything and I have a bunch of videos stored on it, plus I want to use it. What did you do to fix it??? Thanks!

@ralstongirl Same thing happen to me as well -_-.

You can still get your videos off the camera if you do this.

1.Put camera on the plate thing that connects to the computer.

2.Plug USB into computer.

3.Turn camera on.

4.On the top left; Press the screen and the camera will connect to the computer where you can access all your files. May take a few tries (You'll know if it work).

5.Make sure you cut and paste your files into a folder on your computer to give you more room to record.

Anyone tried doing this themselves. The flex cable itself runs for around 20$ on ebay. Just don't have instructions on how to open the damm thing :(

You have an internal connection issue. It can be the flex cable that should be changed. Sometimes, the flex cable can be cut and expose contacts by stipping the plastic isolation. The issue can also be a the connector level: either a bad solder on board that can be reworked with a soldering iron, or loss of pressure at the connector. In the last case, you can try to fit a paper or cardboard shim to fill the space to apply pressure.

I have a sony cyershot w210, just got in a few months ago, but it fell in the fround wile it was in its case! nothing broke, verything is working only for the screen is all blured and mulit coloured, you cant seen anything on it. Any suggestion please? i dont wanna but another one, i saved all year for that camera.

Sorry for writing late. I do repair these types of hardware problem. it costs nearly USD 125 including the spare parts provided the problem is due to the connecting strip only ( which is very common). If you wish to repair kindly let me know.

@kaestar yes you can fix it in USD125. It is because of half broken ribbon between the main unit and LCD panel

My mom dropped it and everything works fine.

But there is a huge crack in the screen....

and i can only see half of it.

So when I record, I have to guess...
