Ed Norton is known to be egotistical and difficult to work with (as was the case when he filmed The Incredible Hulk...he wanted artistic control). He probably was demanding top billing over Robert Downey Jr. and maybe asking too much money. That being said, it would have been nicer if he played Hulk in the Avengers but I guess the producers just didn't want to deal with him after working with him in the last movie.

Ed Norton should act in the next movie "The Avenger" that it will be in movies on May 2012... and I think that for 2 power reasons: first, because all the actors of the other movies will be in the new one.... all them... so I think the logic is tha Norton should be there to. The most common complaint you'll find on the first movie (by which I mean the 2003 version) is that Eric Bana played Banner too tame and that his Hulk isn't really intimidating enough. Edward Norton has a much higher fanbase following him, and even though the plot is kind of thin, it's an ok movie. If you must compare the two, then I'd say this one is probably the better.
