@EarthSuperDragon The G5 Mac Pros have older IDE cables I believe, make sure you can get a BR drive that has IDE interface.

Only a video/3d editor will have a use of such a setup..

Otherwise it's a overkill..

@batezippi Why only an editor. That's pretty wrong in every aspect. How about Developers/Graphics Designers... A Developer would most-likely be running many virtual machines at once. That requires a lot of GPU/CPU power. As with, raw memory bandwidth. Don't limit yourself to one kind of profession.

Hi --- firstly, I found your video very helpful, even though I don't have a MP (I am waiting for sandy bridge processors). I thought that os x did not allow blu ray playback, and because you did not actually play back Hurt Locker, I am now confused.

I know that BD playback can be achieve on Win 7 via bootcamp, which is what I had planned to do once I purchased my MP.

@kdisjubjubmobile There is an update due for the Mac Pro's as it has been 10+ months since the last update. Might be worth waiting for. Hard to know what they will change, maybe new CPU options and thunderbolt?
