As did my father just this past Monday...and he's already home.. 66 year old man.. ..life of poor diet.. hog meat ad nauseum. eeek. Much much better today. Fascinating to see all of this.
thanks for the upload. this will be shown to him..and oh. that nasty bag of hog meat skins have been removed from his house....now comes the hard part.... cabinets filled with heart killing food will be replaced.. fingers crossed all goes well with that.
im about to have that for a left coronary abnormality which im told is vary vary rare. im skared as hell going into it but i trust my surgeon with it. its just the recovery that im whorryed about. i have no blockages of any kind but the blood is beeing pushed back up into the left lad

@thehitman736 it depends on what he is doing but often times it cleanses the area so he can see what he is working with clearly and distinctly. I know it looks like water but looks are decieving, (typically with the heart it will be a saline solution not just plain water) that way it helps solve issues instead of causing them. :D
My 80 year old grandfather just had this done today- a triple bypass. Took only around roughly 3 hours earlier than expected. He's doing well still on a breathing tube and stable and everything seems to be running very smoothly. I hope he pulls through with this. He's strong and I just can't bear the thought of loosing him.
My dad got this done, and they fucked it up , and he got mrsa and he has a scar all the way up his leg , and a big chunk gone out of his leg, he got it done 2 years ago , and his legs is still swollen and severly sore, :(
Stroke is the least possible complication that may happen in a patient undergoing cabg procedure. What are the possible causes for stroke to happen? And who is responsible
I had a double bypass June 08, at Johns Hopkins. I was in the hospital 30 days. I died and they brought me back, I had a total of 5 surgeries. I was very critical, but I am alive today and doing great. It is weird to see this video and know this is what I went through
My girlfriend's grandfather recently had a quintuple bypass. It was a surprise surgery - he went for a test one day, was hospitalized the next, and surgery began 6:00 AM the next morning. It was an odd thing going from walking around with him, with no problems, in the hot sun on a regular florida day. He's not even 60. And then he's under. My girlfriend has now decided to be a heart surgeon over her original intent on being a music teacher, and it's interesting to see what she'll be doing.
I had this operation 11 years ago and I am doing very well and living a full life. Thank God for the surgens who can do this wonderful procedure. They gave me a new life when I had none left !
My father just had quadruple bypass surgery Feb 12th, 2011 at Hamilton General in Hamilton, ON. What an amazing time we live in that these operations can be performed and save lives that would have otherwise been lost. Just amazing
Cardiac surgery is the most difficult and stressful medical specialty...On the other hand, there is nothing more important than saving a human life...

@bukakee1 The rib bones connect to the sternum, which is a bone in the upper-middle portion of the chest. During open heart surgery, the sternum is cut lengthwise (it's called a "medial sternotomy"). This allows the ribs to be pulled apart without breaking.
My dad had emergency bypass surgery 5 days ago. Normal, healthy 67 yr old never drank or smoked, ate healthy, excercised regularly with minor hypertension complaining pain in the arm and general physicians giving him pain meds.
Thanks to the new Doc who was replacing his regular Doc who ran an immdediate angiography and ordered surgery. This father's day is very special for me. Celebrate your fathers and be proactive with your health.
At 42 i had a triple bypass surgery. I was lucky and thankful of the doctors who has done the operation. My family who have been so patient and loving and friends who offered their prayers. My big thanks to Dr. Antonio Sibulo Jr., my cardiologist(St. Luke's)...every beat of my heart reminds me of God's wonderful blessings.
watching this video was helpful, i've been worrying since i did not know what exactly they do in a triple bypass surgery, my partner just had to have one last week, she's still in the ICU but they hope to move her out of that soon. But her case is different than most, as she also had really bad pnemonia when she had the heart attack, so they have been having to treat that as well.
My father just had one of these and it's amazing. I thank the powers that be that give these people such extraordinary gifts of intelligence, skill and coordination.
I just had triple bypass last week and home already... was in theatre for just on 6 hours! Worst thing is the post op pain from the sternum. Thank god for oxycontin !!! Is slowly getting less painful..another 6-12 weeks too fully heal... other thing is can sometimes hear the chest creak or crack... but apart from that....AAA+++
I plan on becoming a Surgical Cardiologist, but i am only in middle school, and i am 14, But I know alot about the heart and will be willing to save lives for people who need it.

I'm 63 and had a quadruple bypass done on Aug 31, 2009. My wife took me to the urgent care doctor because I kept on coughing when I laid down to sleep. I was having a heart attck - no pain or "elephant on your chest" - just couldn't catch my breath. Since the bypass, I've lost 35 lbs in water because of congestive heart failure and I no longer take insulin for diabetes my blood sugar is normal with just a pill. I'll be out on disability for at least 3 more weeks. I just praise God I'm alive
I had a triple bypass May 18, 2009...I also got laid off right after the surgery, lucky me. I had bad shooting pains in my legs for about 3 months, and I STILL have issues with my collarbones...They just dont fit right and they hurt. Surgeon sez it will get better with time...On top of it all, I am now in the middle of a deep deep depression with a ton of anxiety. I'll get thru this, Im doing all the right things..but MAN, it is a tough thing to go thru. Hardest thing I've ever done.
@mrbunny5150 Never be anxious, when you are you miss what is the present and worry about the future. Worry about the future when it gets here. By the way, during times like this always remember the proverb: "The night is darkest before the dawn."
Hello. My mum got that operation done on the 26 09 2007 .and everything went well THANK GOD . I was very woried about it . i could not live without her so i think that this kind of videos are very useful for some of us because most of us dont care about our lives .But when i seen this video i can see how muck valuable our lives are ..thank you for your video ....
It is so sad to hear you guys talk about this. It was a definite scare when my boyfriend 26 yrs old went in for a bypass. I knew he had heart disease but this was like so incredibly I don't kno what it was. I just kno that I cried for a long time. More inside than out cause I couldn't show him. I wanted to be strong for him. After looking at this video, I just can't even imagine. He got through it and I thank God everyday for keeping him with me. I could not have asked for a better partner.
My 78 yr old Grandpa just had this done on the 29th of May. He was in the hospital for 6 days and although that was hard to see him so out of it and drugged up, he is now doing wonderfully and is healing beautifully. He is doing physical therapy 3 times a week and is staying healthy. He is so strong and my hero! Thank God for the surgeons who do this--they are amazing!
Thank you for this video.. my 55 year old dad is going in tomorrow morning at 10:30am for his quad bypass. He is healthy, active (avid surfer/runner) but his (and mine to I guess!) genetics are mostly to blame. My grandparents both died at 45 from heart attacks, and my 58 year old unlce (dads brother) has had 1 minor heartattack, and a quad bypass as well. Nice to see what will actually happen tomorrow morning if all goes well.... Prayin for the best!
During the 2nd week of recovery, I began experiencing excruciating pain in both feet.. The doctor said this is called neuropathy. Did you have such an experience? If so, what have you found to help relieve the pain?
Attention, everyone! After mild exertion, my wife (age 70) got breathless, with pain in her chest and arm. It quickly went away so she put up with it. I persuaded her to see the doctor, who suspected angina and referred her for tests. Result: admitted immediately to hospital, needed a triple bypass, which she had three days ago. It may have saved her life. She is recovering well. Be warned by her story - don't delay! Warmest thanks and admiration to staff at Southampton (UK) General Hospital.
Thankyou for sharing that renard. My dad is 71 and will be getting a trip bypass very soon. I feel a lil better hearing ur story about ur wife. I am very worried about his age for this type of surgery. But, he has to do what he has to do. Thanks again.
I had atriple bypass plus one balooning on April 2008 at National Heart Institute KL Malaysia all goes well and ends well but I hope this will be the first and the last .I am 51 now Thanks Doctor and Nurses keep good work
My grandpas is 82 and just had a triple 2 days ago and now has developed increased dimentia and cannot talk now. They are really not sure what is wrong,
my father had a triple bypass way back aug.2006 and was well and healthy now. Lucky enough that it the only problem and the doctors saw no complications. Our family is very thankful and celebrate his second life!!!
My mum is going in this morning for a quadruple bypass. She has been plagued by a bad heart for years, at least now there is hope for a better future - even though she is 72 :)
Does anyone know how long this op is effective for?
My mom is doing fine after the op thanks. She hallucinated in hospital post op from the medication, we thought she had gone senile - talking of dead people and strangers etc . We laugh about it now but I thought she'd gone over the edge. Shes still tired and frustrated for not feeling 100% but is improving daily. She has the odd pain in her chest but since her op, her sugar levels have stablized. Wishing you and your dad all the best for his op.
Im being told its good for 9 yrs or more. I have a coworker who had it nine years ago and is doing well today. He went back to his old lifestyle and is still doing good so far. Good luck
I had a 5 by-pass surgery in 2002 at 50 years of age and so far doing OK. six months p.o. I walked 13 miles in a mini marathon.Sometimes ,you can have sharp pains in your left chest p.o. from the harvesting of the left mammary artery.
My 5 by-pass surgery July 20 2009. I walk my block to both ends and back and I'm winded. I try to do this twice a day because and besides keeping my legs elevated it stops the cramps from the leg where they harvested the veins. But most of the time I'm tired. I'm 52 and the Dr says this is all because of stress and genetics. It's hard to believe things will get better and I am so greatful for your reports. Thank you.
Found myself on a operating table due, in part, on keeping my appointment to my regular doctor. He found abnormalities on my EKG & felt very uncomfortable leaving his office I asked him if I should go to the hospital, he said yes
After my heart cathe, One was 100% blocked & the other two only 60%.
My wife was told that the 100% blockage was normally called, 'the widow maker'.
Dr. Verma, you look terrific in this video. Brian, Johnson and Ali, you guys too, of course. Dr. Lin, they didn't mention about TEE guy.. but I do know how important you were for the whole procedure. Was the circulator Vanessa? Way to go, girl.
Awesome video for nursing students to see. i wanted permission to send a link on blackboard to our registered students at my nursing program...it is an excellent active learning experience for students to analyze the sequesnce of events and the impact on their pre and post operative care.
I showed your video at the beginning of a class on CABG, MVR, and Aneurysm Repair. I wanted persmission to use this as a link on blackboard for educational use...You are a great teacher...it is a great film to analyze and for novice nursing students to use to become aware of the surgical impact on their nursing care.Beautiful short video.
My Dad goes in next month sometime,we're all very scared including my Dad. All my family have heart issues on both sides so I have to be carefull. My Uncle dies at 39, Aunti at 52, Grandad at 47. These surgeons are amazing people.
hi campviejo your dad will be ok,i am 44 years old,and i had a quadruple bypass surgery february of 2007,i came out ok.i will say a pray for him tonight.just trust in the lord .take care.
Same my dad had triple bypass and he was only 45 and i was only 10 years old i had never been so sad but greatful in my life thanks to the surgeons at Townsville hospital in Cairns. unlucky for me though because both of my grandparents on bothsides of my family have had triple and quadtriple bypass and all of my great grandparents died from heart attacks. my dad also had a heart attack.
As did my father just this past Monday...and he's already home.. 66 year old man.. ..life of poor diet.. hog meat ad nauseum. eeek. Much much better today. Fascinating to see all of this.

Hi Chato,
where the system failed me, is that there is no automatic screening procedure.
My own dad had a triple bypass and died aged 65.
I always thought because I was fit, it would pass me by.
Get your cholesterol screened and insist on getting tested, otherwise, like me, you'll be leaving your kids too soon.

I'm 41 and had a quadruple bypass last year.
If anyone needs more information on the operation and subsequent convalescence, hit me up.

I am in my 3rd week of recovery from a triple. How long did it take for you to completely recover?
ssuit 2 years ago
You'll feel better every day.
You'll feel better than you did before the op in about another eight weeks.
Just take things slow and progressive.
No naked mud wrestling for a while ok?
Seriously though.
Patience is key.
It takes time.
If you have any 'wound' issues, get somebody to get you 'manuka' honey.
Happy to answer any questions.
osummuso 2 years ago
During the 2nd week of recovery, I began experiencing excruciating pain in both feet.. The doctor said this is called neuropathy. Did you have such an experience? If so, what have you found to help relieve the pain?
ssuit 2 years ago
Anything "neuro" is to do with 'nerves'.
I'm guessing that you had leg veins removed.
I'm a bit unusual, in that I had the radial arteries of both arms removed, instead of leg veins.
I've been left with a bad hand tremor, which may or may not be nerve damage depending on who I speak to,
Could be something similar for you?
I'd guess it kicked in as you reduced painkillers?
Anyway's, good luck with it.
It's not funny!

1. Cover your mouth with your hand.
2. Make a wish.
3. Close your hand(make a fist).
4. Hold your hand to your heart for 5 seconds.
5. Thank GOD and JESUS for every thing they have done for you.

Warmest thanks and admiration to staff at Southampton (UK) General Hospital.

my father had a triple bypass way back aug.2006 and was well and healthy now. Lucky enough that it the only problem and the doctors saw no complications. Our family is very thankful and celebrate his second life!!!

My mum is going in this morning for a quadruple bypass. She has been plagued by a bad heart for years, at least now there is hope for a better future - even though she is 72 :)
Does anyone know how long this op is effective for?
ronyagt123 2 years ago
how is your mother? hope shes doing alright. my father has to go in for a tripple in a couple weeks... let me know.
Wyrehedd242 2 years ago

I walked 13 miles in a mini marathon.Sometimes ,you can have sharp pains in your left chest p.o. from the harvesting of the left mammary artery.
woodsorangebo 3 years ago
My 5 by-pass surgery July 20 2009. I walk my block to both ends and back and I'm winded. I try to do this twice a day because and besides keeping my legs elevated it stops the cramps from the leg where they harvested the veins. But most of the time I'm tired. I'm 52 and the Dr says this is all because of stress and genetics. It's hard to believe things will get better and I am so greatful for your reports. Thank you.

I had a triple bypass December 30th, 2008

My grandmother underwent a triple bypass yesterday and is doing well thus far.
I must say, this was very interesting to watch and informative...
First, because now I know what happened to her during those long 6 hours.
Second, because I hope to work in the medical field one day in the future.
Thanks alot for posting this video! :]
