  • I was in school in 1960. Wow! This brings back memories of those days of simpler times. If I had a time machine I would go back to 1060, park it, and live the 60's and 70's all over again.

  • compared to radio now, this is god-like.

  • yes yes yes WOW!!!

  • Knew the boy WELL!

  • @leadsquirter: Used to listen to Dick Biondi and Tommy Shannon from Toronto every night over WKBW radio in Buffalo. Every kid in Toronto listened to WKBW. Thanks for the memory.

    Ken, Toronto

  • As much as I love the Cruisin series ESPECIALLY my Italian brother Dick Biondi, sadly these broadcasts were not original. They were remakes. They used the ORIGINAL DJ's, and did a GREAT job. I mean back in the '70s when I bought these LPS I was floored. I thought they were the original broadcast. But recently I found out that all of the DJ's came back just to remake this stuff. But damn, its still SO good.

    2. Jack Scott - What In The World's Come Over You (1960)

    3. Rosie And The Originals - Angel Baby (1960)

    4. The Hollywood Argyles - Alley Oop! (1960)

    5. Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs - Stay (1960)

    6. Johnny Preston - Running Bear (1959)

  • One of my very favorites. Remember when they bogus fired him and he locked himself in and played all the songs he wanted. I think the thing started over censorship. They told him he couldn't play Elvis, "It's now or never." you guys remember this?

  • could you imagine hearing Rosie & the Originals for the 1st time brand new in 1960, amazing!

  • Wow...it's been 50 years since i started listening to Dick on WKBW while milking the cows on our farm in Juniata County, Pennsylvania. That year was 1959 and Dick and Tommy Shannon were the guys to " tune in" for a " Wild Weekend" after WKVA signed off.

  • what about joe niagara? mayb 2nd best dj?

  • I listen to Dick on WLS-FM now. "The True Oldies Channel"

  • I listened to Biondi from my home in Pennsylvania everyday when I was a teenager. We also listend to Tommy Shannon. I was at the concert in Reading<PA that he mentions at the beginning. What great memories. The Jordan brothers were local talent from Frackville, PA.

  • That's right. I read that, too. These are indeed rebroadcasts. And yes, Biondi is king.

  • Oh, wow!!! You put this on here!! Thank you so much!!! Actually, this sounds like it's from "Cruisin' 1960", but I appreciate hearing it on here too now.

("High 15 to 20--brrrrrrrr!" Actually, that sounds like something Dick would say now, too!)

  • Vicky...it IS from the "Cruisin" series......and I was buying these albums when I was about 17 (many years ago)....but I have recently found out that the "Cruisin" albums were "re-broadcasts" and they werent original at all. The commercials were original, but they got all the DJ's together to make the "Cruisin" album series. They "staged" a live DJ broadcast just like the old days. So what you are hearing really wasnt the "original" broadcasts, but it was a DAMN good re-make. Biondi is KING!

  • I used to listen to WKBW from 1970-73. They had a great DJ named Jackson Armstrong.

  • poor jack died last year at 62. best dj ever.

  • He was great!

  • @airjor1 he still IS great ! :-)
