I loved being a merchant in this game, I just wish that the trading system was deeper so I could just set up a shop or something instead of having to go to other people to sell things. I also got the wasteland merchant clothes through a random event. By random I mean he charged at a deathclaw with a lead pipe, he was a brave man but ultimately it was a foolish act that costed him his clothes, his stock, and his life. It also cost me some ammo to take that thing down.

y are you so worried about rads. you need to go into that area for 500 caps, or good karma and an apartment (not both because you need to choose which side you'll take). you need to go into a radiated area somewhere else just to get one of the most powerful weapons in the game. and it takes a long time b4 you actually die of rads( it's not some type of acting poison, once you get out of a radiated area or eat dirty food, it'll take a few seconds and rad sickness won't get any worse

This was before I had a free way to remove rads. So getting radiated was like throwing away money that I had worked so hard to collect.

Actually, if you cut a deal with the guy at the water processing plant, you can fix a few pipes around town, and ten you can sell scrap metal to him for some XP and 10 caps each.

Elaborate, because frankly, keeping your weapons in the 90th percentile is quite useful, as it keeps damage up, keeps accuracy up, keeps the gun from jamming, and keeps DR up on armor. The only skills that may be more important than this is Small Guns and Medicine. Maybe lockpick.

You can get people to repair your gear , in fact nearly to completely repaired IIRC. I also have no medical skill whatsoever.

The most important skills are speech, lockpick, and science. Second most important are sneak, primary weapon type, and secondary weapon type.

The BEST repair to possibly have an NPC have is something like 75, and that's spending 700 caps for it. It's much cheaper and much more convenient to do it yourself. Medical is very helpful early in the game, and especially on the Very Hard difficulty.

Science is meh. You can get much more stuff with lockpick. As for speech, you can just save and do it until you get it. And sneak doesn't make a damn difference if you can simply blow the heads off of everyone in the room with an assault rifle.

I think you can get them up top 85 repair skill be pickpocketing better armor with repair onto them.  That results in nearly 100% durability from repairs.

But you still have to pay them, which sucks early in the game. Besides, I don't need to steal armor. I get the Ranger Battle Armor, arguably the best in the game, and I keep it going with Talon Company Mercs armor. I also keep extra weapons and armor at my lockers in Megaton for repairs. Cheaper, quicker than hunting Crazy Wolfgang down, and much more efficient.

Kinda. In terms of DR, it's right on par with the Enclave Hellfire armor. Personally, I like the Ranger Battle Armor, the Chinese Stealth Suit, and the Tribal Power Armor. Also, only shop keepers can repair the t51-b power armor, but if you want DR, take that armor, the Enclave Hellfire, or the Winterized T51-b.

You can repair a piece of weapon or armor if you got one identical piece that has a higher... durability(?) for free. Even without the skill, atleast from what I recall. My primary were speech, sneak and small guns.

But your Repair skill determines how well you can repair it. Say, for sake of example, I had two baseball bats. One at 40% and one at 50% condition. My repair skill is 60, I can only repair one to a maximum condition of 60%. So it's very important for Repair to be high so that you don't end up screwed in the middle of a mission. Like, I was doing Riley's Rangers and got in trouble when my XAR and CS wore down. I barley made it out.

Because in my personal experience you can go for quite some time between towns, and to be able to repair a weapon or armor that is nearly broken while you're in the middle of nowhere can be VERY convenient. Also when you start to aquire some of the more expensive weapons, like energy weapons or the Fat Man, it saves a LOT of caps.

The one poblem I find with this game is that (like Animal Crossing and Sims) it is hard to start the game over again from scratch once you have done so much in the game. Also, as a side note, the BB Gun is never going to get any better. I still keep mine for collector's sake. I also plan to collect one of each billiard ball and "The Break" pool cue weapon just for fun.

One thing u can do with scrape metal is give it to the Water Company in Megaton and u get 10 caps Per Scrape Metal + Karma Well u Can do this after u fix 3 leaks around the town :)

just an fyi u can kill the craterside supply owner and so long as no one gets out of teh store you can take all of the stuff she sells for free (ull get a karma decrease of course) but she wont respawn back for some reason none of the npc's respawn

That works for any merchant. However you only get what they drop that stocking period. If you don't kill them, you can get new stuff every new stocking period.
