Chiu blindly believes Chen will be his saviour and Chen will remain in the position of power of some sort after 5.20. Chiu is desperately trying to cling onto Chen because he's lost his ability to live outside the false sense of security the ugly power generated. The same goes to Chen and his wife. I'm tempted to say the same for the vice president Liu as she is polluted to a certain degree too.
