Well by all means keep blowing those farts toward Poland! Just kidding! Are you Czech or an expat living there? I lived there also between '98-'03. Love the place!
Ha, that's great. You eat all that great Czech food, vepro/knedlo/zelo, Svickova, klobasa then you dump it on Poland! Your killing me! I lived in Prerov.
Not my passport, but we did have rationing from time to time.
98% of Cold War propaganda was bullshit, unfortunately there are some who still think the Cold War is still on the go! (Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck................)
@mghills You got that right- Uncontrolled Capitalism has fucked the US up, and now it has spread to Europe. I remember seeing the results early on, when I saw homelessness on the streets of Prague. This was back in '94.
Ironically, I was born in Silverovice (18 km north of Ostrava on the border with Poland) which was also the home of the Rothschilds. Their castle is still there and used as a hotelliers school.
Old man Rothschild earned a great deal of respect as he made sure that he knew every one of his 3000+ employees and their families, and made sure they had no worries even in the hardest of times.
What other employer would do that now? Of course Hitler fucked that up.

@mghills I know! It's the 1960's all over again! What fucking idiots Beck and Palin are! When I was living there, a lot of people spoke about surge of nostalgia for the "Good old" communist days. Mostly elderly people, from what I heard. I am glad to see The Czech Republic still independent. And that asshole Sladek (aka Mr. Bean) has gone back into obscurity. Was he ever a nutter!

During the years 1995-2003 there were many CD reissues of classic Czech beat music. Nowadays not so many and alot of those CDs from '95-'03 are tough to find now. I just found one that took me 10 years to locate! Some stuff like the Matadors and Blue Effect are still in print.
Thank you. Unfortunatelly I don't understand the story, but the film is very interesting, and the music is avesome. Viewing this movie seen what I knew: the Czech people is a people of talent. Respect!
I just came across this & it's pretty neat. Glad it survived all those years. My dad's side of the family is Slovak & my grandparents & an Aunt & Uncle were born over there. So this kinda gives me an idea of where they came from.
Hello friend. Yes I lived in Prerov for almost 5 years. I visit there every year around November. I hang out at Bukacku and also 3 titties pub on Palacky ulice. Cheers!
I remember watching it years ago on czech tv / I am czech/ and I do dj on college radio here in Berkeley / KALX/. I would love to play this stuff ,so if you can posted it even without picture I can rip it from my computer...
I'm quite amazed that this was even allowed in the 60's behind the "Iron Curtain"! Very fascinating and humorous! Thanks for putting it on YouTube djanchovy! :__)
Hallo, I am director....! I made The Road That Leads To Nowhere {Cesta ktera vede nikam] in 1969 after invasion of Soviet Army. 20 zears it was on the black list i Czechoslovakia. For the first time "on air" in 1990.
Hello, nice to hear from you. I love this movie! I lived in Prerov for 5 years, 1998-2003, my Czech friends taught me alot about great Czech big beat music; Blue Effect,Matadors,Atlantis,Beatmen, etc. I love the Czech Republic!!
Watch my video of Czech group Mancuso[my friends]!!! I worked at a school in Brno. There used to be a good antiqvariat in Brno across from the hlavni nadrazi, but I think it's gone now. They had many good old records!!
First of all, I really enjoyed watching this movie. I would like to ask you a question: why is the film entitled "The road that leads nowhere"? I don't understand czech language so if the reason is explained in the film, I would have missed it completely. Thank you and I wish you all the best.
Thank you very much. I'm currently writing an history of the 60's and 70's "eastern" rock (in Italian!) and it is just fantastic. If you can help me more with news let me know! Alessandro

Now that the Czech Republic is coming up to 20 years of independance, there is an upsurge of nostalgia (more of a tsunami, in fact)
BTW, I'm from Krnov, so I can fart in the Czech Republic and Poland gets to enjoy the smell!
The best (and cheapest) beer on earth - 1 UK pint costs around 80 pence, a pack of cigs 2 pounds.

I was born here in a little town called Šilheřovice.
The house is in the Czeh Republic and the outhouse in Poland, thus you needed your passport every time you needed to "knock a brick out"

Jaroslav Sladek - to call him an asshole is to insult Glutimus Maximus!
The (2nd) worst PM we had was Stanislav Gross - an ex-train driver.
What I can say that those who deride "socialism" don't even know the meaning of the word.
As for "Communism", what was practiced here was communist in name only and was just another way of the elite to control the plebiscite.
Now we have a different "them" but the same "us".
All political systems are prisons, only the bars are different.

The name "The road which leads to nowhere" had political sens (undertone). It was made in april 1969) - after invasion of Soviet Army in Prague.
