Good thing he's not aggressive, family is a big part of that. You don't know how many times I've been pinched, wacked up side of the head because that's all they now. Not from me! I wouldn't hurt a fly. Now if there's an Autistic person showing signs of pacing frantically and biting there palm. I bee line it out of there. Good luck Jamie and Mom, your good people.
@christinachase1997 Probably some sort of self stimulation. It looks like they are either playing music or transmitting white noise. That's to help his ears which are probably extremely sensitive to common noises and would most likely send him into an overwhelmed state causing a meltdown. Therefore with the headphones he can enjoy himself!
I was born with autism, but now I am a full grown woman. I function well on my own and I can't say how thankful I am for where I am today. I have seen so many people struggle with autism. It is truly heartbreaking. When I'm out of college I hope that I can help be a voice to these people who do not have the ability to have their own.
@wintersphyc It sounds like you could be a great person to work with autistic people. It's always nice to hear from higher functioning autistics who are willing to be a voice for those with more severe autism.
I'm glad you share these videos as well, to few of people really grasp what autism is. I see it everyday so I know I go through some problem solving to figure my kids out, because unlike you the parents of my kids don't give me all the necessary information I need such as likes, triggers, food preferences, what to do when they are in crisis. I really wish all parents were like you; And i wish he was one of my students he looks like a super fun guy to be around.
He is such a cutie ! Your a beautiful and inspiring person! He's made progress because of you bring so open and patient with him. It's beautiful that you care for him so much! It makes me so sad to see parents who find their autistic child has a burden, although I'm sure it's hard many times, it just amazes me and inspires me so much that you, you can show him and help him understand life in a way no one else can.
If he was my age i would so Have him as a boyfriend. He is so cute and I love people who are Autistic because they are so beautiful. And With my aspergers we would do well. I want to be a Social worker and help kids/teens like him feel like they can be themselfs and not be scard of the world.
@YourNumberOneSource If God wants to heal Jamey he will, but it won't be from his "autism" it would be from the self abuse and seizures. His autism has never been the problem for us, though the self abuse and seizures are rooted in autism. I guess I'm saying I just want the head punching and seizures to be healed because it's so physically and mentally painful for all involved.
aw that's so cute, your son really is amazing. hey do you think maybe he is having migraines? is that maybe a reason he is hitting himself? also i know that you probably have people giving you ideas about how to stop him hitting himself all the time and r really sick of it, but i have one and i'd feel horrible if i didn't share. maybe try 2 pringles cans and reinforce them wiith tongue depressors on the inside, and put foam inside. put those on the lower part of his arms that way he can't bend
I have been working with special needs children for years now. They truly are little angels and such a joy. This is a wonderful video!! Thank you so much for sharing.
hello i have a 3 year old son with autism he scream so much n hit him self when he mad, break things its so hard.just want you to know you are doing a wonderful job you r a good mom bless you always n your son too.
i have watched most of your videos and your are an amazing mother i wish more moms out there were like you .. jamey is soo very lucky to have u in his life ... u guys are amazing! and his smile at the end melted my heart .... he is amazing! ur guys are amazing! words alone cannot describe how much i admire you for your courage and strength and the amount of love you have for your son!
You are a beautiful person all around. I believe people like your son experience more of the spectrum of reality than we do and it is sooo difficult to handle with their type of body that they go into sensory overload. I really believe from my studies of autism, fractality, psychology, and spiritualism that people like your son are immensely valuable and powerful souls trapped in a body somehow not suited to the tuning in of their increased perception, knowledge, and electric energy.
My Caleb is in the spectrum and being 11 is starting to want to be on his own. Now, I must deal with others' comments, unkind remarks within this medium and others. It is hard not to backlash. Thank you for all you give us with your amazing James. And thank you for you for you are an amazing mom!
This is so much like my son and he is called James too. Only my son is obsessed with hair so instead of grabbing that lady's hand he would have grabbed her hair and sniffed it. Thanks for your videos, they're great. Much love xx
@MrPhillipsamuel1992 He has a rountine of walking with me or nurses, so he assumes if you're there, you are ready to walk with him, too! I was just so happy he reached out, it shows how innocent and open he is to people, which is a far cry from his earlier years when all he did was avoid eye contact, people and isolate himself.
@kp996 I have seen on another Video that he does have S.I.B and he likes to punch himself in the head and has hurt his ears pretty badly, i am wounderning if that might be why and also to block out all of the noises that might cause him to get sceard or aggravited. I hope this might help
@dunoon Jamey has been tested for gluten, casein, etc...allergies. The tests are negative. So please if gluten is your deal, more power to u. I like gluten free foods for Jamey cuz they are easier to digest, but they aren't a medical required issue.
what kind of a diet is james on? i saw a previous video taking place in your kitchen with all kinds of food autistic people shouldn't be allowed to have. seriously... cake? apple bread mix?
@longfellow477 Jamey has siblings. They eat food, too. They aren't autistic. And any cake or apple bread mix we have would surely be organic and something good.
This is another one of your videos that I love. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him reach out to that customer. She seemed like a really genuinely nice woman who didn't mind befriending Jamey for that brief moment. And the fact that he reached out to her is nothing short of a miracle, in my book.
Thanks for posting these wonderful videos. They truely enrich my life.
@mikeymou im just going to feel free to give an autistics point of view to the answer you allready had (maybe you dont care anymore, but i do right now! :P).
sometimes someone "radiates" trustworthyness and/or kindness, if you have autism your especially sensetive to this. that may be (in combo with his routine) why he reached out to her.
I love your courage enough to share and explain thanks so much I truly understand how we must cherish these rare precious moments that others can not appreciate. The 35 seconds of tenderness, or joy or cognitivity that push through in a hiccups amount of time or frequency cannot be short changed and can sometimes put a warm blanket on this cold reality of autism and all its peacock feathers
@abitanah3 You R a good descriptive writer! Wow. Love it. Thanks for kind support. Blessings to you. I appreciate the encouragement. Sometimes I feel as if walls are closing in all around me. And then there are precious moments and comments from people like you that bring joy. Thank U.
i am touched by your uploads my linda is 14years old she requires alot of care it touches me to see iam not alone i know that but sometimes i lose sight and think nobody knows our love has given us strength beyond belief to care when it seems no one elese cares peace and blessings lots of love to all your family

I love your videos. Very educational and meaningful. Thank you for putting a face and a heart to autism.
