Great, great, great!....you musicians out there notice when the arrangement modulates a half-tone above and she nails it in the air with sheer easyness!. Great husky voice, great phrasing, very sexy, great musicianship, one of the best female singers, ever!.
wonderful to hear the great June Christie....and Stan the man.....my favoriates for many years....love them so thanks.......how about posting :;",something cool.'..by June
twenty years before she passed. She did an admirable thing. She raised her kids first before anything, that totally explains her absence in the music field, which i totally respect. She did all those lovely recordings. and I'm thankful for them.
I can't believe I have a collection of her LP's, I must be getting old but after listening I'm getting younger!!! I think I them autographed!! I have to dig them out>>>>
This arrangement really hurried June through the song. On the CD (The Misty Miss Christy), she does it with perfect pacing and enjoyment. This has been one of my top 10 songs of all time since I use to hear it on The Firestone Hour in the early days of B&W TV. It was the theme song of the program.
The real "Misty Miss Christy", unhurried, at her own pace, is on her CDs. The sensousness she attained in the sound studio is entirely missing in these videos. Buy the CDs. Hear for yourself.
I totally agree. This is definitely not her best version of the song, and the version on The Misty Miss Christy is lovely. I wish they had more of her songs on here. Seems there are only five or six and some artists have 20 some. She has an awesome voice.
I have also heard the her original version on Misty Miss Christy however I like both versions and like this one here better because her voice improved like fine wine in my opinion.
Thanks so much for posting this great clip. It's wonderful to see June in live performance as there isn't that much film of her. Please post more. Thanks again.
I saw Kenton and Christy with the Four Freshmen at Arie Crown Theatre here in Chicago. Was new in town and unsteady about driving there but did it as I knew this would be the last time I might ever see them together. She was in a word enchanting. She sang "Midnight Sun," "Something Cool" and much more with total magic.
Top rated of the Kenton singers along with Jean Turner and Ann Richards. Timeless music I'll take to that great big bandstand in the sky when my time comes. Many thanks.
This is also the title track of an excellent CD of June released by Jasmine Records. That version tops my list. Great vocalist.

Looking for anything on my father, the late Jimmy "Red" Borland, who sang with the Pastels in 1947 (Kenton's vocal group)...
