  • Yes but I stay with victorinox

  • @INTHEHONOROFROCK Fair enough!

  • I'm going for the pioneer just because ot has all the original Swiss army tools since the soldier 08 it was the victorinox soldier and the pioneer is a remake. I come in the woods often but with my grandparents and my grand dad always carries his victorinox camper which got the same tools as the farmer but replaced the awl with an small blade and on the back an corkscrew and the standard celidor model awl/reamer/punch

  • @INTHEHONOROFROCK Nice one my friend, Yes the difference between the Pioneer and Soldier is a lanyard ring on the Pioneer. There is also the Wenger Standard Model too.

  • Colin I've only just come across your channel. Absolutely brilliant reviews and I am going through them one by one. I think the Farmer is probably the best Victorinox tool ever made. Its just so useful and versatile and all the tools on it are top notch. I use it all the time. Thanks again for posting these excellent videos

  • @pebble888 Hi my friend, thank you so much for the kind words. Yeah the Farmer is a great tool, I am pleased I own one.

  • One person that have seen this video dont can buy a victornix farmer :)

  • @MrGamedude1231 Not sure what you mean by that dude.

  • @ColinOutdoors One person has dislike because he cant get de victorinox farmer :)

  • @MrGamedude1231 Ah, thats a shame, its a great tool :-)

  • another good review my friend

  • @schu740guy Thanks my friend, take care

  • In the store, I had one in my hands. Didn't buy it. Nice tool but I don't like the silvery grip. It's not 'Victorinox red' enough, if you know what i mean. Nice review btw.

  • @hornstra1 Thanks my friend, yeah I know what you mean, the red scales are Victorinox trait.

  • Just taken delivery of one of these beauties. I purchased it because of this video, so thanks, it`s a great little tool.

  • @byronlegend Nice one my friend, glad you got one, its a great tool

  • @ColinOutdoors colin, in my opinion you have the best reviews on knives, multi tools, pocket knives and so on. keep up the good work.

  • @Grunt922 Thank you so much for the kind words my friend, really means alot to me, take care and have a great day :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors my pleasure, and you have a good day yourself. :)

  • i love my farmer, best sak.

  • @Burson69 Nice one my friend, yeah its a class SAK

  • 6:20

It did come in other colors for a while (blue and red), but it was a limited run. The Farmer itself was supposed to be a limited run, but they only recently brought it back.

Great review, by the way. I got one of these working its way to my doorstep right now.

  • @murph9935 Thank you for the great information my friend, I would like to try and pick up and blue and red one in the future. Take care

  • girls are beautiful, the wheel is useful, now victorinox knives...they're just something else...just like sony products, all other brands make sales and have their own sense, but victorinox knives make an automatic stand, even if someone tries to argue against this fact, deep inside they would know.....victorinox has that something that makes it special, unique, nothing can be better, look all the new technology we have now every day,yet nothing has come up,to replace or even compete...

  • @polik735 I totally agree, thanks for watching my friend

  • I love that Vic, easily one of the favourites in my collection - beautiful knife.

  • @davidkenedy I agree its one of my favourites too, Thanks my friend

  • great reveiw on a great MT, you'v done it again Col, keep tem top vids coming

  • @TheDishD Cheers my friend

  • Nice vid. very well done

  • @TheAmishking Thank you my friend

  • Great review Colin......

  • @bushcraftbartons Thank you Mike

  • I carry the Wenger Std. Issue for EDC, pretty much the same as the Pioneer. It does have a large bail ring through the knife body that I prefer....Good review Colin.

  • @vulcangunner58 Thanks my friend, the Wenger Standard is a great tool :-)

  • great victorinox knifes friend, great video too, yhanks for sharing!!!

  • @faithgoshi Cheers mate :-)

  • Great video as always Colin, I have carried the Victorinox Recriut for several years and it has proved to be the perfect EDC for everyday, both at work and home.

  • @MBlackford100 Thanks my friend, the Recruit looks like a great tool, hope it serves you well for years to come.

  • Nice one Colin, Great description as always.

  • @SillyBoyBlue83 Thanks my friend

  • Live Victorinox, I have several of their Swiss Army knifes and SwissTools. Their quality is fantastic. I broke one once, shipped it to them, and they replaced it.

  • @Abigsky Thanks my friend, I agree Victorinox are top quality, good data point on their service, thanks for sharing :-)

  • It looks like another knife was just added to my wish list (and I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing).

  • @theloudmouse1 Lol, thank you my friend, hope you get a Farmer in the future, its a great tool

  • @ColinOutdoors I was wondering about the soldier model actually, I can see the farmer doesn't have them :P

  • I prefer a straight blade myself as well.

  • @jasongiddensviper478 Yeah I think they are more beneficial. thanks for watching my friend ;-)

  • Thanks Colin. I am a big fan of Victorinox multitools. I will take a look at the Farmer. thanks!

  • @MongoWongo777 Thank you my friend, hope you add a Farmer to your collection, its a great tool :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors I ordered it last night from Amazon!!!

  • @MongoWongo777 Nice one my friend, hope you like the Farmer when it arrives :-)

  • G'day Colin, top review of my favorite SAK. The farmer was always a worthwhile upgrade of the "original" soldier SAK. The farmer is a superior choice for field work, but having said that my EDC SAK is an original soldier model as it is a bit lighter and this particular knife has a sentimental attachment for me as I was given it while an observer on a NATO exercise in northern Germany when British Army on the Rhine still existed and it has the NSN designation stamped on the side. Regards.

    Jeff

  • @labrat7357 Thanks Jeff, your Soldier has a great story behind it, thank you for sharing. Take care.

  • Good vid man.I have the 2008 soldier its the older model it looks like the pioneer minus lanyard attachement and engraving place :)

  • @TheValineurheilija Thanks my friend, the old Soldier is a great tool, I would like to get one for myself someday :-)

  • why do all can openers look like sharks

  • @aDAMPis1913 Lol, not sure, but they are affective :-)

  • Great review, Colin, very well presented. I may have to get the Farmer myself, nice piece of kit. 5/5

  • @TheSurviver72 Thank you my friend, I appreciate your support

  • Great little knife.. Thanks for the review Colin.

  • @gwynn1975 Thanks Trevor

  • Nice review. I bought a viccy forster model a while ago, it's no got the serrations. I like the pigs-tail for not just opening corks but using as a makeshift doorhandle etc. take care bud.

  • @soufflekingsize Thanks my friend, yeah the Forester looks like a great tool. Thats a great use for the corkscrew my friend, i'll need to give that a try

  • Cool vid,Thanks

  • @StrikerTripleThree Thanks mate

  • Excellent knives and a great review.

    I've always loved Victorinox.

    Cheers, Duane

  • @XDM50 Cheers Duane, I agree, Victorinox are great :-)

  • I have the soldier and I love it. Does yours have the toothpick and tweezers? Mine has philips and flathead screwdriver too. I like the spot for engraving on the farmer.

    Good review, thanks!

  • @loboisfuzzy Thanks my friend, no it doesn't have the toothpick or tweezers on the Farmer mode unfortunately

  • Read up on UK knife laws. WOW, theres no way i could handle such DRACONIAN rules. As if your gun laws weren't bad enough, no folding lockers allowed??!!! AAACCKK I thought we had some misplaced legislature. Nice job mate, keep up the good work!

  • @Glockster42 Cheers my friend, yeah the laws are a bit tight but its best just to adhere to them.

  • Wow, what a brilliant review, you outdone yourself this time :D

  • @VirtualCentral Thank you so much my friend, I really appreciate your support

  • nice review Colin.

personally i'd be going for the soldier and regrind the blade to a none serrated edge.

the camper was my fist swiss and did me so well from making a cheese butty to whittling and repair work, but she is now a back up for my wave.

    stay safe pip

  • @PiPphiltitley Thanks Pip, thats a good idea about regrinding the Soldier, perhaps I will do that in the future. Got to love the Wave, great tool. Take care

  • coll

  • @fgh976 Cheers for watching :-)

  • nice one colin

  • @bricardiff1969 Thank you my friend

  • Hi Collin, like that farmer. My favorite SAK is the Hunter. has a woodsaw as well, and they are realy great tools. But it also has a lock on the blade, so maybe not allowed in the UK.

  • @leftie4all I like the Hunter, it would be allowed in the UK just not in public places. Thanks for your support my friend

  • Super Review! Great knives, thanks for showing, Colin. Happy weekend Sepp

  • @Waldhandwerk Thank you so much Sepp, take care

  • The pioneer has been used in the dutch militairy for decades, great knife, easy to sharpen, nowdays they use the soldier.

  • @happymark1805 Thanks my friend, yeah the knife blades are great as you say very easy to sharpen

  • BTW, totally agree with you about the saw option. Especially if the knife is going to be as long as the Farmer, the saw is a must.

I remember growing up, these knives were four or five bucks at the local PlanetMart. Now they're collectibles. I've just got back into these. How long have you been acquiring them?

  • @sabr686 Yeah I agree, the saw blade is a valuable tool. I have been collecting Victorinox for about 6 years I think :-)

  • victorinox knifes rock, I always carry one as my EDC. great vid =)

  • @phili676 I great, they are superb knives, thanks my friend

  • Hey Colin! I just bought two Victorionox Cadets (Autumn Gold & Gunmetal, scaled aluminum siding) a few hours before I saw this vid! I hope you got as good a deal on yours as I did mine, friend. Thanks for a nice vid, and as soon as I get to know my Cadets, I'll post a vid for you!!!

  • @sabr686 Nice one mate, you got a couple of great colours on the Cadet, looking forward to your video, take care :-)

  • Nice review Colin. I recent got a Victorinox Solider and I really like it. I haven't seen the Farmer before, but it's an interesting step up from the Pioneer (which was the previous standard issue in the Swiss army prior to the new Soldier model, I believe). I'll have to keep an eye out for the Farmer!

  • @BaronVonReservoir Thanks my friend, I appreciate your support

  • Excellent Video, Going to pickup a Farmer instead of the Cadet. Thanks Colin.

  • @RoninX4 Cheers mate, hope you like the Farmer when you get one, its a great tool

  • My girlfriend carries the cadet in her purse. She likes it a lot.

  • @flabeachcomber Cool, yeah the Cadet is a great choice

  • I recently purchased a tinker..Now I wish I had gotten the farmer, regardless a great book that shows you how to modify the blades and do some whittling of spoons and forks and various other things is "The Little Book of Whittling: Passing Time on the Trail, on the Porch, and Under the Stars" And comes Highly recomended from this old Egale Scout.

  • @MrEhud77 Thanks my friend, I will look into that book, sounds like an excellent piece, take care

  • Nice orderly review Colin. So when can I get a glimpse of Colin Vs Wild?

  • @LeonRFpoa Lol, thanks my friend, hopefully some day in the future :-)

  • have it and love it, great knife.

  • @pmprydr Nice one my friend, thanks for viewing

  • I carry a similar knife in my edc as a back up good knife. thanks for the review.

  • great vid! i love seeing new knives, i edc a victorinox! however im still not sold on the swiss style army knife almost never do i use anything but the knife blade or scissors if there are any! p.s. how often do you use the other parts to your multi-tool?

  • @Killahofosho Cheers my friend, I use the saw blade and awl quite a bit.

  • @ColinOutdoors I'm glad to hear you actually use this wonderful swiss army knife! I am ashamed to say i don't use any of mine anymore :(

  • Thanks !

  • @MrMADMOFO Thanks for watching

  • I have been looking for the right SAK and this has everything that I am looking for, plus I have always liked the Silver Alox Finish on Victorinox knives. Great review.

  • @titan90000 Thanks my friend, hope you get one, its a great knife

  • Nice knife. I think I might go out and get one. Thanks

  • @sk6mix Cheers mate, hope you get one, you'll really like it

  • What's your view of the Spyderco UK Pen Knife? With the whole "non locking knife" BS you've got to deal with, does it seem like a high value piece?

  • @NathanDewey I really like it , I have owned one for about a year now, well worth the money in my opinion. Thanks for watching

  • @NathanDewey I really like it , I have owned one for about a year now, well worth the money in my opinion. Thanks for watching

  • Great knife!

  • @SNAFU111999 Cheers mate :-)

  • Great review, as always!! I carry a pioneer as a back up, always paired with something with a sawblade.

  • @investigator76 Thank you so much for your support my friend, the Pioneer is a great SAK

  • Nice Colin, Would you reccomend the soldier plain blade over the famer?

  • @ihikearoundcom Well I really like the Farmer, I haven't seen the new soldier in plain edge. Thanks for viewing mate.

  • @ColingOutdoors - Nice knife my friend. Thanks for showing it.

  • @1776SonofLiberty Thank you my friend, I really appreciate your support

  • Great video!

I like that soldier blade shame it don't lock!

I've had the rucksack model for 7 years now & it's never let me down & it has been abused I would recomend it!

I love the fact that the 3 & a half inch main blade locks & it has a saw!

  • @fatturdburger Thanks mate :-) I like the look of the rucksack model and it has served you well.

  • @CarolinaCountryGuy Not that I know of, I find a little bit of oil helps and they tend to loosen over time. Thanks for watching my friend

  • those vivtorinox saws are just the bast they dont make them thick and are very easy to use.

    great vid.

  • @f18esuperhornet13 I agree, the saw blades are superb. Cheers mate :-)

  • Nice knife, very functional options. I can see why it would make a good EDC knife. Good review.

  • @thawkins426 Cheers my friend, yeah its a great EDC choice

  • if it only had scissors it'd be perfect.

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 Yeah thats probably the one key tool its missing, thanks my friend

  • @ColinOutdoors NP my friend. good review on the blade. I can't remember the name but Victorinox makes a knife just like the army model minus the serrations. The Wenger Mike Horn edition is my EDC. also a great blade and has pliers.

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 Cheers make, the Mike Horn Wenger is a good tool. I really like Mike Horn as well, a great explorer.

  • You should just get a Cold Steel Trailmaster...

  • @MovieTheaterHead Perhaps in the future, it seems a very nice knife, thanks for watching

  • @ColinOutdoors You're welcome! I enjoy your videos quite a bit.

  • @MovieTheaterHead I really appreciate your support my friend

  • nice..peace..

  • @jmg1957 Cheers mate :-)

  • great review i have a cadet now i want a farmer for like you said a saw blade is everything

  • @tangochaser79 Thank you mate. The Cadet is great, you'll love the Farmer when you get one. I have enjoyed mine very much.

  • Awesome review Colin! I have spent nearly $2,000 American on my knife collection and yet I have chosen the Victorinox Farmer as my edc for the past few years. Everything you described I agree with 100% and can't emphasize enough the quality tool the Farmer is. I got it for $25 on Amazon, exact same model as yours. I also have the Soldier, and all kinds of multi's but none pack the punch for size ratio that the Farmer has. I used the awl on leather and it worked superbly, very clean holes.

  • @Commentboy5000 Thank you my friend :-) It sounds like you have a huge knife collection. Very cool. Yeah I totally agree with you, it sure does pack a huge punch for its weight, one of the best out there.

  • I've had one of those for about a year now and I'm loving it.

  • @jntroisi Yeah its a great SAK, thanks for watching my friend

  • @BigYankeeTacticool Cheers buddy :-)
