@sudaca023 you are comparing a 1974 UFO version to Maiden's version, check out the UFO 90's Version below whenr I posted as a Response Video!
when UFO was playing like this old video, Maiden's were learning from UFO!
only people that were there have different opinion of yours, I love Maiden & I first seen them when they started way back, so no disrespect for them , but your comment is just your favorite version of Maiden ,that's all!
@AXEFLYERFV you know ... i will listenig the 90´s ufo re--version and will see what happend ... of course Steve Harris got the inspirations from this guys i respect that but in my opinon iron maiden are Godest each one when maidens go on an stage even they ´re getting older ... and they still doing rock like no one else whit all my respect to you up the irons and UFO ups rock and roll
@sudaca023 We all have are own favorites, opinions , but the fact is that every 10 years Rock Music or any kind of music has been Evolving just as we keep growing!
I appreciate & thank you for your cool reply & input!!
to mention UFO and Maiden in the same sentance is an insult to the groundbreaking brilliance of UFO and their wonderful songwriting. A more acceptable parallel would be Priest to Maiden, but again Priest dump on them from a great height :)
First saw UFO play this mid 70s in a venue that later became Barry Nobbles Nottingham Astoria. 2nd time was in the Nottingham Catholic Cathedral Hall with individual wooden chairs set out in rows for the crowd. Awesome !!
Michael Schenker is one of the most underrated guitar players of all history. He's such a beast, such a great composer. Thanks for your music! Michael! I've met UFO a couple of years ago and now's one of my favourite bands. That's why Steve Harris loves this band. because they are freaking big!
I've watched some of their videos and can say quite honestly, that today's metal bands need to get out of the doom and gloom business; most people just don't like this idea. Now, I know it's just a reflection of the current world, i.e., economic depression, etc, but, man, they need to combine that high level of energy into something positive. Hint: They can learn a lot from their forefathers in the above video. :)
Times have changed...at the time of this video I saw the following lineup at Winterland(SF) for $5 - Montrose, Journey, UFO. Also saw: Jefferson Starship, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas. What a time!
I spent a lot of hours playing to Strangers In The Night on guitar when I was in 11th grade.. Until someone borrowed it and I never saw it again. So cool to hear all of this again.
I always thought Phil Mogg was a mediocre singer and a douchebag for the way he treated Michael Schenker. On the other hand, I always thought Michael Schenker was one of the coolest humans on the planet and a fucking musical GENIUS. 'Force It' changed my life. That's my 2 cents worth ... fwiw
@smithdsmit Good question; there were issues, and Schenker wasn't always faultless, but Mogg was inclined to start throwing punches to settle shit (wrong answer), which drove Michael further away from the band.
@vampyros1 yes i kinda feel the same way mogg was a mediocre singer....and then you have schenker who had a very prolific career so you are thinking right.......
@vampyros1 You thought Phil Mogg was a mediocre singer?????? I've just phoned the clinc...they're expecting you. Phil Mogg's voice is one of the most electrifying in rock. Jeeze!
@vampyros1 I totally agree with you. Phil certainly doesn't have the best voice, especially now. Schenker is amazing. How did Mogg treat Schenker badly though? Never heard that story.
Schenker is Great ! You can hear him playing the @#% out of that V . Who has all of his Vs now ? Hey Gibson what about a nice Michael Schenker Model ? Danny
@snackersnew Are kidding me man, what world did you come from? UFO stole this song from Maiden??
UFO wrote this song, Maiden came out in 1979 ( Debut Album) this is 1975, UFO guitarist & singer ( Schenker wrote the music/Mogg the lyrics) released in 1974!!
Maiden recorded this cover song as a tribute to UFO for influencing them!! dig deeper into UFO history,,, the out of tune? ,who really cares ,
back then they didn't have your electronic tuner ,tabs & all that you just download
@AXEFLYERFV Well said! I should also like to add that as a music teacher, I'm absolutely shocked at the total lack of talent and incentive amongst today's youth who have ALL the (FREE) resources they could possibly wish for (in order to teach themselves) and yet this generation cannot produce not even one single virtuoso/composer on ANY instrument. It's almost as though their schools have taught them to be as lazy as possible. :( Man, I wish I had the internet when I was a young kid...

@gunlover93 One of Music biggest tragedies,I still wonder why myself, Schenker influenced so many guitarists ,they should've been one of the Greatest Bands to ever exist while others that were less talented made it big!!
@gunlover93 Because Michael Schenker had a problem showing up for gigs. It's hard to keep momentum going when the fans never knew what band was going to show up on any given night.
@blkhwkbob It also had to do with Phil's Mogg bullying Michael, as he said in an interview I posted, He warned Phil if he ever hit him again, he would quit UFO, Phil did it again & so he left for good, Phil also mentions on another interview that Michael had had enough of him!
Michael left right when they were on their way to the top, just too bad!
in this particular video Michael reminds me of Alex Lifeson from Rush...the same time period, i wonder if they knew each other back than.....o those good old days....
@0450marlin They toured together, Working man & the looks & tone from Lifeson was exactly Schenkers back then , that's why Working Man will always be my favorite Rush song, then they took a different musical direction but always loved Lifeson solos to date!
@AXEFLYERFV That's right ..the first time I saw UFO was Rush 2112 tour - I still have the ticket stub and a drum stick Neil Peart threw out, it flew right to me! I even have a couple of snap shots of UFO from that same gig. Back then I really didnt know any of UFO's songs but I became an instant fan from that show going forward.

Steve Harris has said a number of time that he was greatly greatly influence to even pick up the bass because of this guy and this band, Iron maiden actually covers this song in their boxset
@marlonmancilla101 They have played Doctor, Doctor from Strangers in the Night for at least the last 9 concerts I've seen them. Same reason they play the Monty Python tune "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" at the end of any show...because they f#cking well please.

@marlonmancilla101 Maiden play their own version of this at the start of a concert. It has Blaze Bailey on vocals and, even though I like UFO, I think Maidens version is actually better.
@gofindit4me As far as I know ,the cover was recorded with Blaze & it is play at the begining of a Maiden concert, not performed,I do prefer vocalists Dianno & Dickinson for Maiden,
I posted the UFO Doctor,Doctor new verion as a video response below, I don't agree that Maiden's version is better but then again I do understand we all have our own favorite Bands!
Little Kid? Fuck you you prick. Ive been following Maiden since 1979 when I was 9 years old. Oh, and at the concert I went to in Manchester on 28th July 2011 they played their own version with Blaze singing, just as they did at all the other gigs Ive been to over the last few years.
Now fuck off and go back to your 'Take That' records.
@marlonmancilla101 Maiden play their own version of this at the start of a concert. It has Blaze Bailey on vocals and, even though I like UFO, I think Maidens version is actually better.
Paul Chapman! Thanks to @Donna209Lewis! Couldn't remember his name to save my life! Also saw that B.O.C. tour with Travers. Several people shouted "Where's Michael?" And Phil Mogg, cool as hell, pulled the mic aside and said to us up front, "We really don't know!" Even without Michael, UFO rocked! Why are they never played on "classic rock" radio? Back in the day, "Lights Out" and "Doctor Doctor" were regularly in rotation!

@marlonmancilla101 they play doctor doctor when its time to go on stage, it's kind of a ritual i guess.

@marlonmancilla101 this song is the last to hear at live shows just before maidens entrance on stage:)

@marlonmancilla101 because Steve Harris was inspired by them

Steve Harris has said a number of time that he was greatly greatly influence to even pick up the bass because of this guy and this band, Iron maiden actually covers this song in their boxset
CONCHITA2011 9 months ago
@CONCHITA2011 Fuck the boxset. The cover version appeared in the "Lord of the Flies" CD single, 1995.

It has Blaze Bailey on vocals and, even though I like UFO, I think Maidens version is actually better.
gofindit4me 7 months ago
@gofindit4me As far as I know ,the cover was recorded with Blaze & it is play at the begining of a Maiden concert, not performed,I do prefer vocalists Dianno & Dickinson for Maiden,
I posted the UFO Doctor,Doctor new verion as a video response below, I don't agree that Maiden's version is better but then again I do understand we all have our own favorite Bands!
thnx for your comment

@gofindit4me
you must be a little kid they play the UFO VERSION!!!! NOT THEIR COVER WITH BLAZE
sleaze777 6 months ago
@sleaze777
Up the Irons.

Man, they really needed a rythym guitarist, and a faster tempo, not by much though. Other than that, fantastic.
