DEAD, and when she was resurrected she was a TOTAL bitch - she helped Naraku, didn't care whether anyone died, she just wanted to drag Inuyasha into hell with her. Kikyo may have become better as the series went on, but it's for the best that Inuyasha is with Kagome. She's much sweeter, whereas Kikyo allowed the bitterness to overcome her - Kagome has never done that, even if she's felt alone and betrayed.

@Feathertailforever actually, she didnt help Naraku, it was part of her plan to kill him. Yes, she cares if other people die, that's why she helps people. No, she doesn't want to drag Inuyasha to hell because she's been able to overcome the fact he didn't kill her, Naraku did. Kikyo has actually overcome her initial bitterness and, might I just add, being ditched by Inuyasha for a little while isn't the same as believing he killed you, stole your posession and attempted to murder your village.

Not sure why Inuyasha is getting a hard time. He has to deal with the fact that he failed to protect Kikyo from Naraku a second time even though he promised her that he would. Yes she might be "dead" but to Inuyasha she might as well be alive as well as his feelings for her. Even if he was offically with Kagome (which is isn't at this point) it's still a difficult pill to swallow knowing that someone you care about is gone because you weren't there to look out for them.
