He's been around forever so it's easy to forget he's only 25....His best years are still ahead of him....A true halfback that can run and catch like a wide-out is a rare, rare commodity....
Bush was awesome in college but in the NFL has been very average for the most part. He can contribute though to STs and receiving out the backfield. But if you are asking for an every down back, absolutely not.
AP, Dmac, Rice, MJD, Johnson, Forte, McCoy are just some RBs that are clearly better than Bush.
i feel bad for reggie, the saints never really gave him a chance. once they got pierre thomas, he rarely went in. im glad the dolphins took him. and i hope when/if they play the saints, reggie scores 4-5 td's on em.
Reggie will always be a Saint. Exploded the myth that a player is only as good as his stats. Defenses had to plan specifically for him, keying with two or even three defenders, which gave Brees an embarrassment of riches as to where to go with the ball. Not tough? He took the hardest hit in NFL history (06 WC game vs. PHI) and missed one play. Stood up by TWO ATL defenders and WILLED himself into the end zone. The best? Maybe not, but undoubtedly the most exciting Saint ever.
reggie, i love you, but you only played good when you wanted to..you were just a long line of nil athletes, who only turned it on when you had to or when your contract was up...the saints did the right thing...i think mark ingram and pierre thomas will be enough...but you did help them win a Super Bowl, so i can't hate......maybe miami is what you need...
I totally agree that Vick is better (and if you'd watched Sports Science recently, you'd have seen that Vick's top speed is even higher than Peterson's, according to their analysis).
But to say that Big Ben is a better runner than Bush... I really think it's an overstatement.
bush's biggest enemy is himself once he overcomes his own mental barriers i think he could be a big part of any nfl offense. For now though, he just a specialist, put him in the slot and let him do what he can do while he's comfortable
To all the Reggie Bush skeptics out there, here's a bit of knowledge. For his pro career, Reggie has averaged 4.0 yds per carry, has 17 rushing TD's, and 10 fumbles lost(4 less than AP, in one extra year). And thats not including his receiving ability. The reason he isn't more productive is because the team is using him less and less, which I can understand given the talent at running back. But if you look at his stats, he is far from a bust.
@Crimsonshadows329 You can't compare Bush's fumbles to Peterson's. Peterson has twice as many touches offensively than Bush does. If you look at his stats, he's a bust for a 2nd overall player.
@Crimsonshadows329 - The difference between AD and Bush is that, AD is more consistant and has 4 consecutive pro bowls.. Bush has what? 1. More carries would help him in the season, but in the long run, don't think so.
OF COURSE he is not the best running back of the NFL!! He ain't better than Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson, nor even Steven Jackson. But I think it's ridiculous to think that he isn't a great running back when he's healthy. Maybe, part of the reason is that New Orleans has not been able to extrat his full potential, or he's not as comfortable playing for the NFL as he was in college. But I really think that some day he will be able to paly as good as he can, I just hope it won't be to late.
@losangelescardinals First of all Mike is alot faster than most in the nfl, second, how the hell can you compare Aaron Rodgers to Reggie...Rodgers is hella slow cant move his ass for shit...makes no sense dude
@losangelescardinals 2nd leading rusher on the team. Not only that he was in the top 3 for rushing TDs by a QB. I bet that he had better numbers than Reggie. And I don't give that shit about his injury. That's just another reason why he's more of a bust than a boom.
@losangelescardinals Going by that logic Roethlisbergher is a better runner than him =\
Reggie is by no means one of the best RBs or even comparable to a decent starter in the NFL now, but saying Rodgers is better than him is the dumbest thing I heard recently. So you're saying they can put Aaron at RB and he'll do better?
@jjdidit3 Well not Rodgers but Vick and Big ben maybe. Vick and Terrell Pryor were considered to play WR or RB, Vick - when he got out of prison. I'm not saying he has no chance of being a good RB. He has many chances. Better than most, but people do make excuses for him, which isn't fair. I know the expectations were put high out of college, "The Next Marshall Faulk" but it wasn't for no reason. He was a Heisman winner and a versatile back. Just play like it, not just a WR.
@mazerscreen So you mean to tell me that he's better than Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson. Wow thats like saying dog shit smells better than a flower
Well, with Pierre Thomas & Chris Ivory out for the rest of the playoffs, it now becomes Reggie Bush. He shall prove why he was the 2nd pick of the NFL Draft.
I don't understand why Bush has so much talent, so fast, so quick, so agile and can leap like a motherfucker yet hasn't had a 100 yard season yet. Amazing at USC no doubt but look at his NFL career. He's been through 4 seasons before this video was put out and all you can show is 6.5 minutes including footage of a 5 inch touchdown that was purely on sean payton, 3 different clips of the same 20 yard gain and 2 clips of a 15 yard gain. no hate on the vid jus sayin idk why he hasn't produced more
FOR SALE: Used Running Back/Former Heisman winner. Low, and I mean, LOW Mileage. Runs better in reverse. Sorry, Heisman Trophy & Kim Kardashian no longer included. Only $8 Million this season. Hurry before 2010 contract runs out! Call 1-800-BUSHSUX.
man people sleeping on reggie...he gonna have a breakout season next year!!! him getting hurt was prolly the best thing for him. Its gonna make him hungry!!!
haha i think reggie does a bag of meth before he plays XD Nah but reggie is good at what he does because of his work ethic in the off season too. Im tired of hearing hes a bust because look at what he can do!! Look at vince young, mr 2006 rose bowl hero....now thats a bust.
reggie bush is a present-day version of red grange: he's sparked interest in football, just as grange did in the 20's. for haters who talk about stats, consider this: red grange is only credited with a little more than 500 rushing yards FOR HIS CAREER
I love reggie bush It took for him to get out of that selfish stage , and to become more of an team player to win a superbowl , along with a great team..
I don't like it when people call Reggie a bust. He might not be the superstar he was expected to be, but he's still a good player. 32TD's in 3 1/2 years (missed games). A bust doesn't get into the endzone that many times. Guys like Jamarcus Russell are busts. Guys like him make no positive impact on his team. Reggie does make a positive impact for the Saints.
Everytime reggie has a big run it's because he's running through a huge hole in the line. Everybody says that defences pay a lot of attention to him but they really don't.
Defences care about Peirre Thomas and the saint's passing game not reggie bush.
@ChrisJohnson2K - Just focus on him finally getting a 1,000 yard season before 2,200. 700 receiving yardage, probably, but it's already taking half a career if he only breaks 1000 yards his 5th season IF he does it this year
I wasn't even basing my opinion of him on this video, I didn't watch the video because anybody could look good in a highlight video.
I've seen him play several times and defences really don't pay that much attention to him, when they run play-action fakes to him the defence doesn't even respond.
@kattyclaire reggie bush is a 1000 yards all purpose every year. now we just need him to be 1500-2000 yards all purpose and then people can get off him.
Reggie Bush has only had one season with 1,000 total yards from scrimmage and it was back in 2006. Most teams have one guy who RUSHES for 1,000 yards in a season and Reggie Bush can't even do it when you combine his rushing and receiving yards.
Joseph Addai has proven to be a more productive running back than Reggie Bush and Addai is not even considered to be an elite player.
@kattyclaire 2006- 1523 total yards, 2007-1010 total yards (4 games missed) 2008-1114 total yards (6 games missed) 2009- 855 total yards (3 games missed)
@kattyclaire LOL is reggie bush a power back with 20-30 carries a game? didnt think so. dont compare two totally different running backs to try and make a point. yea over 4 years with 12 games missed "dude" thats practically an entire season. so let me ask you, who is your team?
That's my point, Running Backs like Bush that are too frail to carry the ball over 20 times a game will never be as valuable as running backs that can carry the ball over 20 times a game.
Also, let's compare him to a similar running back that plays in a similar offence- Joseph Addai: 43 touchdowns, 4756 yards Reggie Bush; 32 touchdowns, 3,874 yards.
@kattyclaire bush was never that back at USC. sure he carried the ball more and had a lot of yards but that is college. joseph addai and bush are not good comparisons. addai doesnt make the plays bush can, jumping six yards in the air for a TD? i dont see addai doing that. and still, those number arent that far apart anyway. give reggie those 12 games he has missed, and i bet you those number would be matched.
@89bteal "addai doesnt make the plays bush can, jumping six yards in the air for a TD? i dont see addai doing that"
I don't see Bush having 1,000 yard seasons, Bush may be able to jump higher but in the NFL the only thing that matters is productivity. It doesn't really matter how pretty the plays look, I would rather have the player witht the more production and that's Addai. .
@kattyclaire yea your right, but we have never asked reggie to do that and quite frankly, we dont need reggie to be that guy. we are a pass heavy team with multiple backs and that fits right into what we want reggie to do, catch the ball and make plays that no other player in the NFL can make.
@ChrisJohnson2K the thing is that it can happen. Im sorry I used the wrong word, please let me correct myself. The thing is that it will happen. Much better :)
He's been around forever so it's easy to forget he's only 25....His best years are still ahead of him....A true halfback that can run and catch like a wide-out is a rare, rare commodity....

89bteal 1 year ago
32 career touchdowns really isn't that impressive over a four year span,
Maurice Jones-Drew was drafted 58 picks behind Bush and he has 54 career touchdowns.
If you can take a break from "laughing out loud", maybe you should consider that less than ten touchdowns per year is not remarkable.

@kattyclaire you have heard of this chris johnson guy, right?

@311gotgrassroots Yeah of course, why do you ask?

@ChrisJohnson2K That sounds more like chris Johnson than Reggie Bush.
